Intro When I first entered the dig site I saw a military officer hart, a skeleton, two swords, two old cameras, a Russians wooden doll, and two old newspapers. The first thing I noticed was the skeleton on the ground, along with the two swords. Our teacher asked us to make hypothesis on how the person may have died, and to fill out this packet for homework. We were also to not to touch anything, as it was old and fragile. I observed the find by sitting down on the ground to take a better look and to see if there were any broken bones. I wrote down this packet what I saw and that is how I documented my findings. To research artifacts I used my plan of using the Internet. Part II The first item I decided to research was …show more content…
I found out from my research that the cigarette case is made from metal, and is a map of Germany. At the top of the case is a town called Kassel, and at the end of the case is a place in Germany called Salzburg. Inside of the cigarette case it has a spring that keeps the cigarettes in place and releases the …show more content…
The Kodachrome came out in 1935 by the Kodak Company. It was being sold by process paid and stopped in 1954. Then the film could be processed anywhere a place processes film. Many photographers used it in media and for lots of years. Since the processing of film was complex it helped digital photography. Kodak stopped making the film in 2009, and stopped processing film in 2010. The sixth item that I researched was the Norfolk newspaper. The first Norfolk newspaper is not known, and the oldest one is from 1865. Having business troubles in 1873 the company changes the name to The Norfolk Landmark. In 1906 two companies (Norfolk Dispatch and The Public Ledger) come together to create The Ledger Dispatch. The company still makes newspapers to this day, and has their own website PilotOnline.com becoming one of the first online newspapers. After Looking at all of the artifacts I first believed that this person was someone from the 1940’s. They were taking a walk one day in the wilderness, and got lost and starved to death. The reason I suspect this because the skeleton had not been damaged and was in perfect condition. Also I had found a newspaper that shows the end of World War 2. I also believed he was going to take pictures as he had Kodak film and cameras with
Electronic cigarettes have been around for about a decade. No one is sure of what havoc they can cause yet because of how new they are in existence. Throughout the past years more and more issues have been arising from this product that was originally assumed to be harmless. Now we are faced with the question are they really as safe as we thought or should increase investigation to see what they are really capable of. So far researchers have discovered many issues with the electronic cigarettes and every month more and more issues begin the surface the air. From explosion to toxic material. These issues will not only affect their
Science plays a major role in assisting archaeologists and researchers reconstruct the past. In the case of Ötzi, scientific research resulted in magnificent findings and continues to make great finds and extract evidence from the body and the equipment found with it.
Imagine that you have been called to an area where bones have been found. What would you do at this spot to help you better understand what happened?
Forensic anthropologist examine skeletal remains for elements of a skeleton that can give clues to the person it belongs to. The Kennewick man’s skeleton was found in surprisingly good condition meaning the damage to the skeleton was done in his life, not due to deterioration. The skeleton showed a projectile point lodged in his hip, five broken ribs that did not properly heal, two small dents in his skull, and a bum shoulder. These wounds show an insight to the lifestyle
How do we recapture the lives of people who left no written record? If a pot is found in the middle of the woods, how do we determine how it got there? From what clues can we unlock the history behind that pot? Are artifacts a reliable source of factual information? It’s through artifacts uncovered, put together with written documentation, that we can tell the story of the way people lived. With the Jamestown Rediscovery, artifacts are analyzed and put together with written documentation to piece together the story of what happened to the people of Jamestown. Through such artifacts such as clothing materials, the bones of animals, and the remains of the teenage girl names “Jane”, we can scientifically couple the evidence to learn about the early settlement on the James River.
This essay is aimed to explore, analyse and discuss smoking in adults. Smoking is a public health issue as such is one of the major contributors to high mortality and ill-health in the adults which is preventable (Health and Excellence Care (NICE) (2012). The United Kingdom (UK) is known to have the highest number of people with a history of smoking among people with low socio-economic status (Scriven and Garman, 2006; Goddard and Green, 2005). Smoking is considered a serious epidemic in the UK and the National institute for Health and Excellence Care (NICE, 2012) stated that 28% of adults with low economic status are tobacco smokers compared with 13% of those with economic status or having professional

One breezy fall afternoon, as fido and I were strolling down an ally. Fido leaped off the leash and rushed over to a pile of garbage behind a old rusty brown shed. I followed after him shocked by what I saw next. There lying in a hole that Fido had dug was a skull, collarbone, and pelvis of a human. I don't know what provoked Fido to dig a hole, he's a moose. I sure glad he did though. My next move was to call the police and explain the crime scene, then I started my work. My good friend Billy Bass said in an article, “Dead man talking”, “when you first start off, you want to look at that crime scene and say, ‘what does this scene tell me?’” The first thing I noticed was all the grass around the hole was dead, and the trash next to the bag seemed fairly fresh. The bones on the other hand looked like they were in fairly good shape. This told me the person who lives here didn't know the bones were there and these bones have been there for a while.
Cigarettes are poison this planet in several ways, the air with the toxic smoke, out lungs, causing cancer and not even just the ones smoking them, the streets with the buds leftover thrown out. Then there’s the fire hazard, of throwing them out without putting them out. Solution to ending this? Phase out sales.
During 1956, a skull was found near River Ouse. It was found near the village of Ricall, Yorkshire. A farmer was happily digging his crops until he felt something solid and hard. He scraped the soil and found a human skeleton! He called the police but the police decided the bones were not modern bones so they decided to call the archaeologists. They found sixty-nine more bones. Some questions to consider is:
Howard’s research team of 200 people took twelve years and 6 million dollars to analyze the 419 bodies that were exhumed from the site (Blakey, 2010, p.64). The knowledge gained from the remains was disseminated to the public through three comprehensive reports. Rothstein (2010) comments,
A body was found by two German tourists near the east ridge of the Fineilspitze in the Ötztal Alps on the Austrian–Italian border. At first the Germans thought that what they found was just another body of an unfortunate person. However, when scientist’s got their hands on it, it was actually and 5,000 year old corpse. Due to the body being found in the Alps mountains, they named it Ötzi. From research, Ötzi had lived during the Neolithic Era and the beginning of the Copper Age. During this time it was said that it had a very violent characteristic.

Tobacco use is a major threat to public health. Lung cancer and heart disease are the major causes of mortality and morbidity among smokers. In addition to that, second hand and even third hand exposure to tobacco smoke represents a risk of cardiovascular disease developments. With the increased awareness of these risks, a trend towards smoking cessation started years ago. As part of this alteration electronic cigarettes were initially introduced to the U.S market in 2006 as a healthier alternative to conventional tobacco cigarettes, and as a smoking cessation aid. Since their introduction to the market, e-cigarettes had widespread success among smokers, non-smokers, pregnant females and even youth, their sales increased by 1437% since 2008.
