This week in class we dissected a frog to learn about its anatomy. We cut the frog open with a scalpel and observed its organs. Some people got females and some people got males. Going into this lab I thought that the frog's anatomy would look very different from a human’s, but I have now concluded that frog and human anatomy are very similar. Frogs and humans have similarities in their anatomy, but there are also many differences. One difference is that humans have a 4-chambered heart with 2 atria and 2 ventricles, but frogs have a 3-chambered heart with 2 atria and 1 ventricle. One similarity is most of their entire digestive system. Frogs and humans alike have a stomach, small intestine, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, and a large intestine.
In chapter 1 of The Descent of Man, Darwin explicates the similarity of man not only to “higher” mammals but many other species. It’s clear to Darwin that the bodily structure of humans follows under the same principles of other mammals. Bones can be compared congruently to the bones in Monkeys and other creatures. Darwin continues to explain the similarities in anatomy by indicating the liability for mammals to contract the same diseases such as cholera, herpes, syphilis, and etc. This proves the similarity in blood and tissue of mammals and other species. A perfect example of the close evolutionary relationship is the embryonic development of species, which shows that all mammals arise from the same fundamental method, which closely resembles
All animals with limbs have a common design. If a batwing were to be formed from a person’s hand, make the fingers extremely long; a horse elongates the middle fingers and reduce and lose the outer ones; frogs elongate the bones of the leg and fuse several of them together. All in all, despite radical changes in what limbs do and what they look like, this underlying blueprint is always present.
Have you ever contemplated about the differences between a human and an animal’s body system or even more interesting, the anatomies of any two animals? Most important, people can explore how an animal sustains and grows itself. Also, you are able to learn animal management, which is useful for people working in a range of industries. Additionally, a body system consists of various organs which work together to carry out a special job, which is vital to living a healthy life. Most important, researching the anatomies of both, pigs and frogs, every system has its own composition of organs, functions, and its own purpose.
2. Discuss the anatomical differences between frog and human hearts. The frog heart has a single ventricle and two atria.
The worm, crayfish, and the frog have many of the same distinct features as well as some that are not. Throughout the dissection days, i’ve observed many things that relate to the human body system like the digestive system, respiratory, reproduction, etc. But, there are also many things that don’t match with one another. There are many things I can talk about the similarities and differences between all these animals to the human system, but i'll keep this short so it won’t be a whole 7 page essay. I will be talking about mostly about the similar and differences to each one that is compared to the human body system or mostly compared to one another.
They were little, and a light brownish color. The function of the lungs is to take in oxygen and release carbon dioxide. The heart was the next organ we took out. It was located under the rib cage of the pig. The heart is from the cardiovascular system, it's function is to pump blood to the lungs to pick up oxygen to the digestive system to pick up nutrients.
“Hop-Frog,” composed by Edgar Allen Poe, begins as a classic fairy tale that many are familiar with, but “Hop-Frog” takes a dark and brutal turn as the jokes and humiliation reach a certain extent. Poe introduces Hop Frog and Trippetta first as victims of the king and his seven cabinet council men; due to their physical features and status as the king’s slaves for entertainment and humor. As the reader proceeds to read the great detail given by Poe, the reader begins to understand the abnormality in Hop Frog’s thinking and actions when he becomes fed up. Hop-Frog has no intention in causing any harm or brutality, but there needs to be an end to the torture and embarrassment caused to Hop-Frog and Trippetta. Hop-Frog’s act of revenge is the act of a sane man, but this is due to the abuse of power and authority by the king and his seven council men which lead to the devastating end.
to Garrett, “That’s him!” “Quickly as possible I drew my revolver and fired, threw my body aside, and fired again” claimed Garrett.(p.3) The Kid was dead. Pat Garrett was with John Poe, Thomas McKinney, and Pete Maxwell when he shot Billy the Kid.
No longer a frog… but a collection of dead organs. No longer a dogfish… but a specimen.
(A cadaver is a dead human body donated for scientific research and study). I already knew such desires of mines could not yet be fulfilled by a young adolescent me. Instead of taking such a far-fetched approach, I chose to approach my desire by dissecting a dead animal, and it just happened to be a coincidence that I had to dissect a dead cat for my Anatomy and Physiology Class. Of course, a cat is not the same as a human being and a dead cat is even farther from an a human being. Nonetheless, I was content with a cat because according to Animal Corner, “A cat’s skeleton is very similar to that of a human being” (1).
“Jumping Frog” Essay Throughout the story of “The Notorious Jumping Frog Of Calaveras County” there are many undercover jokes that are used in a serious manner. Mark Twain tried to hide his comedic remarks by using a more serious tone. Through this tone he is using, Mark is able to convey a story that has a lot more depth to it. There are multiple occasions where Mark has slipped in a joke while using a serious tone. In this essay I am going to point out a few of the times where Mark Twain has made a joke while using it in a serious context.
For the past two-hundred years, dissection of the human cadaver has been the gold standard for teaching aspiring medical professionals the networking and layout of the human body. Surprisingly, cadaver usage has had a rather curious history.
Both Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s, "I Have a Dream Speech" and the closing argument from To Kill A Mockingbird use various forms of rhetoric to help the development of their ideas on racial injustice. MLK uses rhetorical devices such as repetition and metaphors, while both MLK and the closing argument excerpt from To Kill A Mockingbird uses various forms of allusions. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s, "I Have a Dream Speech" is most effective in the development of his ideas on racial injustice because he uses rhetoric appeals such as ethos, he includes various forms of metaphors, and he uses multiple allusions.
Compare and /or contrast the anatomy of the White Rat with that one of the Human body.
The Rana pipien is a frog more commonly known by the name Northern Leopard Frog. They are characterized by dark spots on their dorsal side and dorsolateral folds and considered medium sized. This strong jumper is difficult to catch during the day. It emits startling “warning screams” when jumping into the water and when grabbed. The frog may also release urine to discourage potential predator and reduce weight for jumping. The Rana pipien eats a variety of invertebrates. During winter, they often spend it under under submerged logs or rocks in small streams or marshes where large numbers may congregate.
