Anatomy of a Murder receives a three star rating. The acting in Anatomy of a Murder is one of the reasons I give this film a three star rating. I felt the actors did a phenomenal job at portraying their characters’ emotions throughout the whole film. In the movie, James Stewart plays a lawyer who is defending Ben Gazzara’s character, Lt. Manion. Throughout the film, James Stewart was able to make it seem as if he was a professional lawyer. He was able to portray his feelings effectively, regardless of the situation he was in. The writing for Anatomy of a Murder was very well done for the time period. I enjoyed the idea of the plot, but I think it was, at times, too hard to follow. It would have been better if the plot did not jump around
When it comes down to a film or television series that is known as a popular hit, most people may consider something along the lines of a comedy or drama. No one, in my opinion, gives much thought into viewing a film such as a documentary. A person may say or hear the word ‘documentary’ and particular stereotypical views such as elderly-people-sitting-around-on-a-Sunday-afternoon-with-nothing- better-to-do, or the history channel perhaps come to mind. Not many individuals give documentaries a chance, but I would encourage the viewing of the Academy award-winning documentary, Murder on a Sunday Morning, also known as Un Coupable Ideal, directed by the French-film maker Jean-Xavier de Lestrade.
Serial murder is one of the most baffling crimes that occur in the U.S. and all over the world. Knight (2006) defines serial murder as the killing of three or more people over a period of more than 30 days, with a significant cooling-off period. The cooling off period may be weeks, months or even years long. Researchers have proposed various psychological, biological and sociological theories that offer a partial understanding of the nature of serial murder. Some propose that the basis for criminal behavior is a predisposition to violence as well as a mix between environment, personality traits and biological factors. Serial killers are predominantly male. Only 3 percent of serial murders are committed by women (U.S. News and World Report,
I think that that Customer C killed Fannin. The first piece of evidence that proves Customer C killed Fannin is that that the cash register had been rung up to 8.75 this is the exact total of Customers B, C, and D. This had to have been done before the murder, because the heel to toe footsteps that belonged to Ernie show that he walked to the cash register after mopping (footstep trail Y.) This was done before the robbery, because the only two reasons that he would’ve opened the register would be to either check someone out, or to give someone money during a stick up. We can tell that he wasn’t getting robbed, because the money’s still there. This allows us to rule out customer A. The second piece of
Doug finds himself in a very difficult situation and he cant decide whether to do what he knows is right and not except this foolish trade, or what he wants to do because of his longing for Ralph’s friendship. When Doug begins to him reminisce about these memories we see he’s changed a little bit. He hated himself as if it was his fault back then and now as things have gone on that anger has built up substantially. The difference is now that anger has redirected almost completely at Ralph. He tries to solve this conflict within himself by blaming everything on Ralph. This only makes things worse by reversing that anger to Ralph causing Doug to decide to kill him.
The National Geographic film, A Portrait of a Killer, examines the types of stress that living beings can endure, and how it can thus affect the rest of their bodies. Severe chronic stress can lead even lead to the destruction of brain cells. Dr. Robert Sapolsky is a neurobiologist of Stanford University who has been researching stress for over thirty years. In order to study stress and its implications upon nonhumans, he went to Africa to study baboons. This species has only three hours of stress caused by eating, and the rest of their daily routine is consumed by about nine hours of free time. Much like Western society, baboons socially stress out one another, as they have social hierarchies to regulate how them interact with one another.
The detective genre is recognizable by the mystery that it represents or establishes. Every word of a fiction novel is chosen with a purpose, and that purpose on a detective novel is to create suspense. The excerpts from The Big Sleep by Raymond Chandler, Murder Is My Business by Lynette Prucha, and Devil in a Blue Dress by Walter Mosley, create an atmosphere of suspense and mystery. Even though they all fit into this category, there are some differences that make each novel unique. The imagery that the authors offer in the excerpts helps the reader to distinguish the similarities and the differences.
How the author described, how Alexis found the body was definitely unexpected and it felt so real. I enjoyed the way to author explained how the girl’s body was found. April used descriptive words that could help me envision how the body was, almost like I was watching a movie. When she found the body, that is what really stuck with me throughout the entire book. The were two quotes that stood out to me in this book. “If the cops are wrong, then right now this guy is looking for his next victim.” This quote stuck out to me because it meant that if the teenagers don’t find out who the killer is, then the killer is still out there waiting for his next victim. “It was all like a fairy tale. And bad things happened in a fairy tale forests. Witches and wolves lay in wait.” I thought that this quote was similar to the other one, and I think that it really shows how they needed to find the killer, so that more people wouldn’t be
but it is connected to money. There is no victim in it but the villain
Murder on a Sunday Morning is about an African American boy who was wrongly convicted of murder. He was only fifteen years old when his life changed forever. While first watching the documentary, it seems to the audience that Brenton Butler, the convicted boy, is guilty. Mr. Stephens, husband of the victim, Ann Stephens, claims that Butler came over, tried to take Anna Stephens’ purse, and then before she could comply, he raised his gun and shot her in the face. Sadly, Mr. Stephens was the only eye-witness, which is a major red flag, as he is connected to the victim. After being forced by the detective, Butler confesses. Once defense attorney, Patrick McGuinness is involved, he has Butler tell the court of his innocence and thus beings the criminal proceedings for Brenton Butler.

It had been thirty-six years since I had last seen him, yet he was the same height. Compared to me, he looked like an elf you would expect to find working for Santa at the mall during Christmas time; he was all scrawny and short. His hair was whiter than snow (Metaphor) found in the mountains. He looked like he was in his eighties, although I knew he was only about forty eight. I snapped out of my train of thought, “why did you never come get me that one day, or even call me!” I said in a hurtful tone.
The author did a brilliant job of putting together all the facts of every aspect of what happened but at times I felt bogged down with all the information. Therefore, the prose was not badly written it felt overwritten also containing an overabundance of
