I really liked the last paragraph of the essay when Bullock talked about how he got a gift from his grandmother, just as mine got me an important one. The biggest moment to me in the essay was when Bullock asked for the menu when he was at the restaurant because it showed that he was able to order for himself, instead of his parents ordering for him which showed that he had a lot of power at his age. Bullock is able to get power because instead of having to order on a kid’s menu he is able to order for an adult’s menu. This is the main reason my he was so connected to his grandmother because she has taught Bullock how to do so many things that kids his age would not
The article “The Writing Revolution” by Peg Tyre is a piece which aims to address the problems in school systems often associated with the way in which writing is taught to students. Tyre’s article conveys the different arguments presented in the course of teaching writing to students, which have been shown to be on opposite sides of the creative and analytical spectrum. These different perspectives of how to build the foundation of writing for the children of America as well as other countries are backed similarly on both sides, though the debate still continues. “The Writing Revolution” instead of focusing on all aspects of writing, highlights the effectiveness of analytical fundamentals over that of creative writing in helping to
In Chapter 1 "A Writer 's Choices", of Andrea A. Lunsford 's book Easy Writer, she outlines the choices that writers need to prepare for in academic situations. Lunsford explains the differences between social and academic writing and that it is important for a writer to effortlessly transition from informal to formal writing conditions. Lunsford continues with informing writers of the expectations in academic writing. To write with authority, directness and clarity are necessary in any high-quality academic writing. The author claims that having these items is so vital that she even lists several strategies within the chapter to meet this goal. While, it is important to have a clear text Lunsford also tells writers to consider an assignment and the reasoning behind the task. Lunsford requests that writers analyze an assignment to better understand a professor 's expectation; so the writer will be successful with the intended project. Next Lunsford explains how to choose a topic for an essay; however, she claims it is best to let it choose you by picking a topic that interests the author. After selecting a topic, Lunsford goes on to help a writer focus the text of an essay to reach their targeted audience. Lunsford wrote a list of questions a writer can ask to ensure their ability to communicate effectively. Now Lunsford asks writers to take into account their stance and tone. Once a writer knows the position in which they wish to approach a topic; at that point the writer
It was two days before Christmas, when Josephine opened the door to her 12 year old son’s room. Chay was the oldest of her four children, and the one she related to most. As Josephine sat down on the edge of the bed, Chay opened his eyes slowly. The dim light that seeped through the partially opened door revealed tears in his mother’s eyes.
In Andrea A. Lunsford 's book Easy Writer, she describes how to conduct research and evaluate source material. In addition to informing the reader of the proper ways to incorporate source materials into an article, and concludes with how to write a researched paper. Lunsford begins chapter 37 "Conducting Research", with a detailed explanation of how a writer should start to the research process. First, Lunsford informs the reader to analyze the research assignment, research a question to answer, and then to form a hypothesis. Then, Lunsford details how to perform each of these steps, beginning with the questions a writer need to ask themselves vital to the research process. These questions include information on the purpose of the research project, the target audience, and the interests or assumptions of the audience. After that, the author asks the reader to question their own attitude, feelings, and influences on the topic. Some other questions Lunsford advises the reader to answer before beginning a research project include the amount and types of evidence needed to influence their audience. As well as, questions related to the time and length of the research project. Next, Lunsford explains to the reader how to formulate a question and hypothesis for a research project. This process is begun by finding a topic and, then narrowing it down to an issue from which a question and hypothesis can be generated. Lunsford recommends that writers also plan out their research
At some point in your lives you probably have come across the cartoon of the Roadrunner that says, “Meep, meep” then takes off and races against his rival the coyote. Well, when Stephanie Santos was describing her life to me, specifically, when she bounces between work and school, that’s what popped in my head. I was taken back by how much this girl can handle and how much energy she still has in her! Between drastic life changes, work, home, school and maintaining a relationship, it was exhausting just listing those aspects of life, never mind living them.
Laurel nodded her head when she heard that Zinda would be willing to aid her in her efforts of keeping the city running smoothly. “With that attitude I think Ryder will love you.” She stated with a small laugh, her head shook from side to side. “Even before the outbreak I always had a hard time sleeping.” She reached her right hand up and placed it against the back of her neck, rubbing at it. “So it really doesn’t bother me all that much.” She nodded her head. She knew what Zinda said was true, that she should try and sleep more but that seemed easier said than done. She really tried to sleep at night sleep just seemed to elude her, it was never there when she really need it. Like the night they got back from the Farmhouse, all she wanted to do was fall asleep and forget the whole events that had taken place there. Sadly that didn’t happen, she stayed up all night thinking about how she could have done thing differently, that she should have stayed with Kate.
If he had been human, everything would have been easier. Hal's life would have been so much better; he wouldn't have been forced to fight, or be controlled by the code in his head. He would have grown into a different, maybe better person. But then, they would still be stuck in the compound, still there when the bots had malfunctioned, and they may have not even escaped. Perhaps they would have died an untimely death and not have escaped into the wastes and would be left to rot in the desecrated compound, forgotten, and the only sign they were there were their desecrated skeletons, and even those would be ground away by the sands of time until they eventually became nothing. It was a pity that they would meet that fate regardless; Dirk would

“The sea and the sky are the same,” uncle always said. At the time he had laughed, but looking out that morning; the cold sea mist clinging to my clothes, I knew he was right.
It was dark when I arrived at the village. People were going about their nightly chores before they retired for the night. They quickly escorted me to the wigwam of a woman who was in labour.
I was here I was walking threw the amazing wooden doors into the most fantastic park. I was standing on the floors of the GREAT WOLF LODGE. I was there with Amanda, Lyla, Calista, and Kira. We all quickly walked over to the check in desk so that we could get our wristbands and bust over to the water park. There were about one, two, three, four five people standing in front of us. While we were standing in line there was an amazing window that was huge and we could see every person and every ride in the park. We saw one of the biggest slides there we say the most crazy slide it was called HOWLIN TORNADO. We finally got to the front of the line and we were ready to get our wristbands on. The manager slipped on a teal waterproof wristband the said “GREAT WOLF LODGE”
Liam woke up late one night to his phone ringing. Groaning he turned on the lamp and grabbed his phone from the night stand. Who was calling him at this ungodly hour? Liam shielded his eyes from the light. After a couple of seconds Liam’s eyes finally adjusted to the brightness.
Victoria Alice Layman flows nicely doesn’t it? Well, my parents thought that it did too. I would love to be able to tell you that I was named after my grandmother or an aunt or uncle, but that’s not completely true. Leatha Alice was by mother’s beloved grandmother’s name. They loved her middle name but know they needed a first name for their new little girl. There was only one name in mind Victoria. But what about a nickname everybody had one well I had several.
Upset I was, a dreadful mid Monday sitting in a feeling of peculiarness and hot boiling room while sitting in my pink pajamas and warm room, staring at the dust particles, you usually see when you’ve just dusted, float around with a comforting sound of the gentle birds chirping. With everything it was like I had been a mime for about four days of my life, except I did not have the white face paint or a funny french hat, I just could not bear to stay in that awful home of mine. The feelings I had were like a million to one I had felt like my thoughts were literally racing as if they were on a Nascar track. From the time I felt like I had been in silence for long, I was mentally in another blank world, but there are things
