I chose my project by understanding that I love to sew and help others. I could have made blankets as well but I believed that the children in the care of lutheran family services would appreciate the stuffed animals more. The organization that I donated to helps kids who are refugees, kids in foster care, homeless kids, and even run a adoption program. These kids will come into these programs with little to nothing to hold close to them, in fact they are alone with no parents or with parents who have no money and are incapable of caring for them. My goal for this project was to make the kids who have nothing feel that they have something. Give them a chance to feel loved, and have a friend who will never leave them behind. Also, I …show more content…
My project will be displayed by a poster board, and pictures at the project night. With the poster I will also have the original rabbit that I made, it is the one thing from this project that I will be keeping for myself. On the poster it will explain my process through the whole thing, and how to make the animals yourself if you would like to. My passion relates to the community because I can use my skill to help people to be more happy in the life that they are living. Also I can create other projects for older people, I can create quilts, clothes, and as shown in this project stuffed animals. To achieve my goal I created six stuffed animals at the best quality that I could and donated them to the best place that I could find. Also I had to adapt to the challenges that I faced such as finding a new donation site. Another thing that this project will affect is the other children in the care of the organisation, this is because the president told me that any time I have more stuffed animals I can donate them. The global context that this project most effects is the personal and cultural expression. This is due to the fact that I am expressing my love for the community and people while improving the happiness of children who may not be so happy in
My projects for the year included Leadership, Market Beef, Visual Arts and Crafts, Photography, Woodworking, Shooting Sports — Air Rifle and BB gun, Girls Buymanship, Clothing Construction, and Foods & Nutrition. I enjoy
Many animals throughout the world that go homeless, yet many more die in animal shelters because these facilities become overwhelmed. Humans buy animals from animal shelters and then return them within a matter of time, because they no longer want to take on the responsibility of taking care of them. Most animal shelters have a policy that if the workers can not find a home for the animals within 72 hours from the time they are brought in, they have to euthanize them, or “put them down” (Akita Rescue Mid Atlantic Coast 26-27). Unless the shelters have enough space, or the animal is a breed that a lot of people desire, the end result is to usually put down the animal. Every year, a total of nearly 7.6
Passion Project was something I was scared for, yet I was excited to see what would happen in the year-long process. My Passion Project was Hunger in Northern Illinois. I wanted to know more about hunger in my community, and was eager to try to help solve the problem. My essential question for my research was, how can we decrease the amount of people suffering in Northern Illinois effectively? I chose this as my passion project because of my motivation to be able to directly help people in doing my food drive as my final product. I also have spent a lot of time in the city, and have seen many people homeless and hungry on the streets, so I wanted to be able to help them. I also had been to Northern Illinois Food Bank, the organization I donated
My project was to help the community through a hospital by supplying them with raised garden beds
This specific project idea was sparked when I volunteered with the Saint Alphonsus registration department last Christmas. One of the employees had organized a secret santa and my mom, knowing I really wanted to volunteer over the holiday season, signed us up to adopt one of the residents. The residents gave a list of things they wanted and we were to purchase
Vazquez visited the sanctuary and fell in love with Gordic and wanted to know if it is possible to get updates on him. I thanked her for volunteering her time and referred her to the new stories website where she can read regular updates on all of the sanctuary animals, including Gordic.
My friends and I were walking down a dark alley we heard screaming, fighting, and a lot of movement. When we looked in the alley all we saw was... If you are aggressive to the pets they will be aggressive back and will be worse for you because they can bite, scratch, or even make you bleed. Animals should not be kept in cages. When animals or pets are stuck in cages they don’t have fun in their life they don’t play, run and not even do anything in a little box. The only thing they can do with a little box is eat and drink water or milk. Imagine you were that animal kept away from your natural home used for money.
My project took about 12 weeks to complete. The first couple weeks in my project I focused mainly on researching about leadership, therapy dogs and things it takes to be a leader and/or start a club. I did most of the researching in school. During those first 6 weeks, I learned a lot about therapy dogs and how they can comfort anyone. They even can lower blood pressure. On the seventh or eighth week, I finally got to go to Edgewater with Shadow. It was a great experience being able to see all different people. Some of which had already seen Shadow before. The people at Edgewater loved seeing shadow, he just brought a smile to their faces. During this project, I did not quite stay on track. I did not accomplish this because I had no time to. Until eventually I found a free Saturday and we went.
All throughout this project I learned many new things about me. I finally understood how one person can change the world, whether it is a small act or a large one, one person can make a difference. I learned that people looked up to me. I learned that I can be a role model to other girls. I also discovered the amount of patience that I had and that I had the qualities of a leader.
An outside group can contribute to Pet Assistance Foundation by getting people to volunteer in many things they provide like Pet Care Volunteers (Feed, clean and socialize orphan pets at one of our Petco locations), Hotline Volunteers (Pick up calls from the public and assist pet guardians in finding affordable ways to spay and neuter their pets), Adoption Volunteers (Help Set up tables and cages for animals at one of the adoption locations). We would have to persuade people to volunteer their time, but if they don't have time to spare we would have to persuade them to donate money. Also for the pet lover, we would have to persuade them to be foster parents for an orphan pet. Most importantly we as a group have to inform people about what Pet
In Communities, our freshman year we had the first opportunity to personalize a project of our own. We were let loose to select anything that interested us about the human body. Instantly my first idea was to work on a project somehow related to Autism. I had literally lived with this topic as my younger brother, Ansel, has Autism. I was passionate and excited about something for once, causing me to be a bit idealistic. I had ideas undoubtedly too large for myself, so I joined up with my friend, Ally.
Since my project had an emotional pull for me, I payed more attention to what I was learning and absorbed more. I learned a lot about my family history while making this project. My project focused on my grandfather's experience as a Jewish WWII soldier. It was very fascinating to research my grandpa. I got a better understanding of what it was like being a soldier during WWII. I was able to also learn the soldiers' perspectives and what information they were told about the war.
Adopting or rescuing an animal will be one of the best things anyone will do. Each year, thousands of dogs and cats are euthanized simply because they cannot find a forever home. How can anyone pass up the cutest cats and dogs in a shelter and not bat an eye? Adopting an animal will save many more lives in the process than shopping for one will. It also helps to fight the war on puppy mills and other mass breeding industries alike. Rescuing a shelter animal is very rewarding up front and in the long run. Adopting animals from a shelter is better than “shopping” for one in a pet store or other place.
To begin with, I started off with creating my project using a sheet that was passed out to everyone and we wrote down our ideas/interests and then problems that were present throughout the world. Hearing my and other people’s ideas helped me to begin to formulate a project. It was definitely not easy to come up with or pick a project because there are millions of ideas for this kind of broad project. To become final with my idea I talked it through with my mom and she told me it was doable and a great project. To add, my elevator pitch let me know you Mrs. Wunder, were okay with my project.
The project involved my friend and Nursing center that provided a support me and given me the opportunity to volunteer at the center. My girlfriend was also a volunteer in seem center, that was encourage me of
