A Necessary Evil, “Animal Testing”

The word “animal testing” refers to any experiments or actions performed on living animals for purposes of investigation into basic biology and diseases, assessing the effectiveness of new medicinal products, and testing the human health and environmental safety of consumer and any pharmaceuticals. It is true that animal test tends to be essential to most of the fields related to human body. Since the procedures of the test have a high potential to cause physical and as well as psychological harm to the subject animals, animal test has been a controversial issue for a long time. As the industry grew more and more throughout the nineteenth century, the number of animals used in tests increased along with the number of tests themselves. This fast increase in animal testing resulted in the development of numerous agencies aimed at stopping animal testing while also sharing their sentiment with the greater public [1]. As time went by, the rift between the supportive side of animal test and the opposing side continually deepened and even now still there’s no such a distinctive common ground have found. Not just because I am pursuing biomedical engineering study, such experiment on animals for ensuring human’s good seem to be a necessary evil for me. Even though I agree with that each experiment should avoid unnecessary harm on the animals and minimize their suffering, I can’t deny that the use of animals for test is inevitable. Before take
