Animal Testing Needs To Stop Essay

The majority of people believe animal testing is dreadfully wrong. As animal testing becomes a popular conversation argument, the main altercation is how unjust and crooked it is. Companies especially those in the makeup industry, have gained popularity and admiration for wiping out animals testing for their products even though the products have actually been tested before put out on the market. Animal testing is now grasped as an abhorrent business, but what others do not realize is that without animal testing, the medical world and other productions would not be as advanced as it is today. Even though it seems as though the cons outweigh the pros, there is definitely a balance between them. Animal testing can save human lives and the medications tested on animals can also become a medication for animals if it works; however, some animals contract diseases easier than humans and can suffer because of this testing.

Over the last couple hundred years, this world has expanded beyond its horizons and the new equipment and technology has allowed humans to advance in many areas, but has also damaged the basic ethics and morals of some. Today on television, one will see the over dramatized body spray commercials or the famous celebrity advertising their most favorable shampoo and stating its claims, but what most do not know is that a couple or couple hundred, animals were killed to approve, by law, of that product. This act is called animal testing, and its method is used in many companies for their products to be released. I do not agree with this practice simply because it harms innocent animals for products that we do not need to survive or remain with. I believe animal testing harms and tortures, innocent and helpless animals, by containing them in tight spaces, with chemicals drenched on their skin for several hours to see how they might react or the effects to analyze what worked and what did not work. My claim on this topic is that animal testing should be not be legal in any country or required for products to sell because I feel that their are alternative ways and I see many

Animal testing is a common practice in current life that is necessary to ensure the safety of the humans that will be using the tested product. There are many good and bad aspects of animal testing, but the pros clearly outweigh the cons. Animal testing has been around since ancient times when animals were dissected to gain knowledge about the body and organs. The animals killed from animal testing make up a tiny percentage of the total animals killed every year. When just considering the animals used for food compared to the animals used for testing, testing animals make up a mere 2.6 percent of that number. Public safety far outweighs the lives of the small amount of animals killed.

Although many people agree with testing products on animals, they ask ‘Who else are we going to test our products on?’ Nobody! Don’t add harsh chemicals in the products and then the animals and humans are both healthier. Beyond millions of animals that die and are captured every year just from animal testing alone. Treating an animal cruelty is never okay, especially when they’re torturing the animals with harsh chemicals due to testing. If people would stand up and try to protect animals we’d be saving certain animals from becoming extinct and we’d also save a ton of money.

I understand that there are different forms of animal testing. There is medical which I can agree with. Then there is the testing for the "name of science". Then there is animal testing for cosmetics. To me that is downright wrong. This testing on animals for cosmetic purposes is a problem that needs a major solution. Even though there are the benefits, there are the cons to it, the horrible effects done to the animals, the countless lives lost, there needs to be a solution.

Picture yourself in a testing laboratory; needles, drugs, and knives pointed in your direction with you having no idea what’s going on around you, this is how animals everyday are treated, we have to stop this now! Millions of animals are killed in laboratories everyday with no chance to object to what the testers are about to do to them. Animals feel as much pain as humans do so why does it make it okay to test on them when they are so alike to humans? Every day people test makeup, shampoos, and medicines on animals, the strange thing is that animals have different skin, hair, and internal organs than humans have. Since the animals have different internal organs than humans only 5-25% of the testing results are agreeable between animals

Everyday cosmetic products that many people use, such as lipsticks, shampoo, face wash, etcetera, are verified to be safe using animal testing. Chemical burns and other short term ailments are very serious concerns that plague Americans and the knowledge that the products they use will not harm them and their families is possible because of animal testing. Did you know that the shampoo you use was probably forced down the throat of a rabbit, cat, or maybe even a dog? Each year, millions of animals are used to test how safe and effective products, such as cosmetics, are. They are genetically modified, force-fed harmful chemicals, blinded, scalded, and maimed. How could one not object to this awful cruelty? Animal testing should be banned because it is cruel, unnecessary, inaccurate, and expensive.

Test animals are subjected to intense pain and suffering like burn, scrape and infection. A perfectly fine rabbit is shaved and chemicals are rubbed onto its bare skin or eye irritation tests is performed by dripping chemicals into its eyes without any pain relief. Repeated oral force-feeding studies are conducted to look for signs of general illness or health hazards like cancer or birth defects. Sometimes these animals are also forced to swallow massive amounts of chemical to determine the maximum dose that can cause death. The saddest part of this is these tests can take weeks or even months to come up with a result and these poor animals are tortured every day to get to that result. At the end of the test, most of the animals are killed either by neck-breaking or decapitation and in some cases if they can be reused for other experiments, they are abused

Much progress has been made to end this testing, gearing the world into the right direction of animal testing free procedures, though, not everyone is on board. The United States have yet to hop onto the train toward a free animal testing future. The United States continues to test on animals for cosmetics even though there are numerous ways to test, without using animals, that are more efficient and effective than animal testing. Animal testing should be felonious. The only exception should be for finding a cure for a disease. There is no reason for us to test our products on wretched animals; for they have no say in this. The fact that humans test on animals, thinking that animals are exactly the same as humans, is vacuous. The blind leading the blind. The phrase ‘animal testing’ refers to the procedures being performed on living animals for research of biology, diseases, environmental safety, cosmetics, drugs, and industrial products. Animal testing puts the lives of animals on the line for cosmetics and other unimportant inventions. There are many animal rights group such as PETA that fight to end animal testing all together. Animal testing must be prohibited because it is not the best way to test products, it wastes a lot of money, and many animals are harmed in the process.

Testing cosmetics on animals is not only cruel and inhumane, but it has been proven to produce inaccurate results. Testing on animals has become an every day occurrence and routinely happens in the cosmetic industry. It costs billions of dollars each year and produces ineffective results. Animals are treated inhumanely during testing, as they are shaved and have chemicals spread onto their bodies and chemicals sprayed into their eyes. Animal species are different just as animals are different from humans so test results vary and provide inaccurate and unreliable results.

Testing on animals in order to create a cure for AIDS is one thing, but testing on animals for human vanity is another. Animal testing is used to test the safety of a product. It has kept some very unsafe substances out of the cosmetic world. However, in this day in age, animal testing is not the only way to test the safety of a product. Animal testing in cosmetics has decreased over the years. However, it is still used by many companies in America. Animal testing is not only cruel, but it is also unnecessary in today’s advanced scientific world.

Throughout the decades, animals have been used in medical research to test the safety of cosmetics including makeup, hair products, soaps, perfume, and countless of other products. Animals have also been used to test antibiotics and other medicines to eliminate any potential risks that they could cause to humans. The number of animals worldwide that are used in laboratory experiments yearly exceeds 115 million animals. Unfortunately, only a small percentage of countries collect and publish data concerning animal use for testing and research, so the various animals used in experiments are unknown. (Author, Year). Whether animals should or shouldn’t be included in medical research has been a heated debate for countless generations. Many American’s value the achievements that animal experimentation has provided, but new understandings about the nature of animals have caused people to reconsider the ethics of using animals for human gain (Driscoll and Finley para 1). Despite the numerous benefits of animal experimentation, there are many negative aspects. Animals shouldn’t be used in medical testing because they are abused, many drugs that were tested on animals weren’t safe for humans and lastly, there are alternate ways that are cheaper and effective in testing the safety of products.
