Anne Frank is a well renowned representation of how horrible and dehumanizing the holocaust really was. Her only passion was writing, and her dream was to one day become a writer. Her diary would eventually become an inspiration to millions everywhere. Upon captivity, the writings of Anne Frank ceased. Through her journal entries, people worldwide have received insight of the struggles Jewish families had to face during the holocaust.

Anne and her sister Margot died in 1945 due to the typhus outbreak in the camp. When all the surviving Jews were liberated from the camp, the only one left from the Frank family was Otto Frank. Among returning to Amsterdam, the diary of Anne was returned back to Otto by Miep Gies, a family friend who found the diary. Anne’s diary was then translated into over sixty languages and released to the world so others could learn about the dangerous measures the Frank family had to go through in order to try and survive. Many believe that “Anne Frank remains the most recognizable victim of persecution, oppression, and genocide…” (Foray, 330). People who have read Anne Frank’s diary, can visualize how extreme and tiring it was to be forced into hiding and cutting off all connections to the outside world. The struggles that Anne portrays in her diary, shows that even though any hardship one faces in life, they can be overcome. Anne even states in her diary “Despite everything, I believe that people are really good at heart.” She found a way to forgive even those who have belittled her as a human.
