Anti-semitism, according to the Oxford Dictionary means hostility or prejudice against Jews. Although the word was never used until the late nineteenth century, which was coined by Moritz Steinschneider (1816-1907), the ideology dates back through many centuries. Nevertheless, antisemitism in Germany can be detected from the time of the reformation, by the reformer himself, Martin Luther. Since Luther’s antisemitic treatise “The Jews and their Lies” German Christians and people in general, began to harbor antisemitic feelings towards the Jews.
