Ever since I was little, I’ve found difficulty in the most simple tasks. Talking to the server at any given restaurant, asking the teacher for a bathroom pass, or even getting up to throw something away at lunch. I had a really hard time talking to people or having attention drawn to me. I couldn’t communicate with anyone, and every time I was left alone I always thought something would happen. I would always worry about drawing too much attention, or looking a certain way, or getting the worst possible outcome no matter what I try to do. I thought that all of my fears were dumb and that I was being over dramatic about everything. I was always worrying about something, and it was futile. I got nowhere making myself worry
According to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America, roughly 40 million American adults suffer from one form of anxiety disorder or another, with only about one-third of those sufferers getting treatment despite the fact that many of disorders can be treated with pharmaceutical drugs. For example, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) like Prozac and Zoloft are two of the most common forms of drugs used to treat anxiety-related disorders, along with tranquilizers such as such as Valium and Xanax. Not always effective, these drugs can have adverse effects and tranquilizers can be extremely addictive. These factors have created a void for alternative forms of treatment, and this is where cannabis comes into play. The non-psychoactive
The difference between social anxiety disorder and other disorders is that a person is capable of enjoying themselves. This is because they are not impacted as severely physically since their fear is only stimulated in the event that they will have to be
A common misconception that so many people are under is that panic attacks are the result of someone just "being dramatic". The fact of the matter is that there is a large stigma against getting treatment for mental health issues in America. This is an issue because suicide is the nation's 10th leading cause of death currently and many people wave off serious issues by claiming that someone is being dramatic. Overlooking "small" things like panic or anxiety attacks could be the difference between life or death for some people.
Long term anxiety can cause any or a combination of symptoms such as the following:
Anxiety is something that everyone experiences to some degree. Unfortunately, for some anxiety completely controls their lives; this is referred to as generalized anxiety disorder. This severe anxiety can cause panic attacks which can make one think they are having a heart attack. It is amazing that our brains have the ability to make our bodies experience all the symptoms of a heart attack. This extreme anxiety is exceedingly dangerous and treatment is vital. Learning what triggers one’s anxiety is the first step. Sometimes just being able to talk to someone about one’s problems, be it a friend, family member or a therapist will help one through these rough times. The person I am researching is Vincent Van Gogh. He is a notable painter who is most famous for his self portraits and the painting called the starry Night. The psychological disorder I am researching is Generalized Anxiety Disorder(GAD). This disorder is “experience excessive anxiety and worry, often expecting the worst even when there is no apparent reason for concern. Anxiety is considered a mental illness, which consists of a feeling of worry that some cannot control therefore a type of treatment should be provided right away. It is difficult for patients suffering from anxiety to reduce it if they don’t look for a solution or help to their specific type of anxiety. There are a few effective ways to control anxiety or even cure it, such as medication. In the other hand any type of treatment can help, and for many anxiety problems “therapy is a good place to start” (Smith). Therapy has proven to be very effective overall treatments available and should be the first choice for all patients.
First of all, when you feel an attack coming on, stop and slow down your breathing, just close your eyes and take slow, deep breaths. The second step you should do is to be okay with your anxiety symptoms and not try to fight them. In this moment, remind yourself that these symptoms are the product of anxiety. So, try to avoid telling yourself that you have to control the symptoms because this is such a wrong idea and this can make the panic
