The Story of In Search of April Raintree
Written by Beatrice Mosioner about a young protagonist named April Raintree and her antagonist sister Cheryl. Even at an early age, April was a kind, loving big sister to Cheryl. She often took her to the park to play in the summer, and made snow houses with her in the winter. Even while April and Cheryl were at the orphanage with the nuns, all April could think about was Cheryl. April always thought about her mom and dad as well and why they had to be away from them. Eventually, the girls were placed in separate foster homes and were apart for a long time. April finally got her wish; she and Cheryl did finally get together as foster children to the DeRosier family. Unfortunately their being

Identity is the key to life. Some go many years without knowing who they really are, some question themselves everyday, some pretend to know who they are and some know who exactly who they are. April Raintee pretended to know who she was, Thomas King knew exactly who he was and Ellen questioned herself about life and who she was and wanted to be.
It is evident from the very start of the book that April, the older sister of the two, is the motherly figure to her younger sister Cheryl. Continually, it is also apparent that April is the fairer skinned sister and wishes to be fully white. The situation in chapter one, when the white kids and native kids exchanged argumentized words. Cheryle is confused at first, in other words she is still too young to understand racism and fights back with her own efforts. As well, it is also quite clear that Cheryle is still too small to understand that the medicine that the adults drink is alcohol. To go furthermore it absolutely crushes Cheryl when she finds out the truth in chapter fifteen. That her parents were both severe alcoholics and were not in fact actually “sick”. Causing
It was a rainy and bustling night in Downtown San Jose, California. There were people at every corner scurrying away in search of a restaurant to eat or for some, their hotel room to sleep. I was part of the plethora of people in search for a restaurant that fit my party’s mood. It wasn’t but half a mile from our hotel in the rain that we unanimously agreed to settle for a small, but busy Mexican food stand. The man under a floor umbrella behind the food stand appeared to be elderly, but lit up with delight as we approached. Upon arriving our party had ordered 3 quesadillas, 4 tacos, and a burrito. Energized with the power of money, the old man started the process of making our food. Our food was finished after what had seemed like a few minutes. The smell of the small area we were in was mouth watering. Everyone eager to taste it had taken their first bites and described it as the best street food they’ve had. Personally this food alone wouldn’t have made a trip hundreds of miles away from home worth it. People travel for a lot of different reasons, but only a small percentage would travel hundreds of miles to experience a videogame tournament.
My mother was on her way to come get my sisters Lauren, Alecia, and I for the weekend. My parents haven’t been together since I was six, and I go to my mother’s house every other weekend. We were on our way to my aunt’s house to visit her and her little munchkins. My aunt is like my second mother, she helped raise me, and I used to live with her at one point. Her children are like my little brothers and sisters. I can’t see life without them, they always know how to put a smile on my face.
