How The Greasers are Honorable Are The Greasers honorable? The Greasers are a gang that steals and injures other people but sometimes save another gang members live. The Greasers are a gang from The Outsiders by SE Hinton. This essay will prove that the Greasers are honorable because they save other people’s live. First, The Greasers care about other people. For example, Johnny and Ponyboy saves children from a burning church. The quote that shows this example is “I jerked loose and ran on” ( 91). This shows that The Greasers are honorable by saving other people’s lives and risking their lives for other people. This means that The Greasers are honorable by saving some else’s life and risking theirs for others. Furthermore, The Greasers would
“I am a greaser. I am a JD and a hood. I blacken the name of our fair city. I beat up people. I rob gas stations. I am a menace to society. Man do I have fun!” exclaimed Ponyboy. The Greasers play the role of the unlawful “hoodlums” in their community. They are considered wild and unruly. When a Soc sees a Greaser, they assume they are dirty troublemakers and white trash. The Greasers were
I am a greaser because they stick together and don’t pick on other kids. Greasers may be poor but they stay as a family. The difference between greasers and socs is that the socs pick on greasers, they are rich, and they are very rude. The greasers, on the other hand, are nice, poor, and they try and hide from socs. The greasers have long hair that is greasy and they are the middle class. The socs are the upper class and they have really nice cars.
They also get in fights and some of the Greasers jump people also. An example from the book is Dally. Dally is sort of a bad example of a good person from the Greasers in this book. Dally used to jump people and he has gotten into many fights and brawls before. Another example is Johnny. Little innocent Johnny had committed a huge crime which was killing someone. During the Greasers and Socs battles nobody has ever killed someone before, but Johnny did for a good reason which was to save Ponyboy. This is still a major crime that someone should be punished for and Johnny later did in the worst way possible, death. Darry has also got into a few fights before like the one during the fight between the Socs and Greasers but everybody did include Sodapop and Ponyboy. So not all the Greasers are perfect, but could you really blame
Imagine being dumb, stealing and carrying blades everywhere you go, and being unable to feel deeply, those words would make people think of Greasers. Most people when they think of gangs they think, that they fight, steal, and do not care about what is going on around them. Those statements that Greaser's and other assortments of gangs are dumb, criminals, and unfeeling may not be true, Ponyboy, the main character in S.E. Hinton’s book The Outsiders, opposes all of those statements.
In the novel, The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, there are 3 Greasers that are heroes. Johnny is a hero, for many reasons, he is courageous, brave and he risked his life to save a lot of people. First, he saved Ponyboy from drowning in the fountain. Also, he saved some kids from the church that was on fire. Finally, Dally is a hero, for reasons just like Johnny, he saved Johnny from dying in the church. Also, Ponyboy is a hero,he also saved the kids from the church that was on fire.
In The Outsiders, we see the respect and honor among the lawless. The Greasers develop honor among one another due to the struggles they face not being treated equally to those like the Socs, that hold a place in the upper level in society treated equally in the law”(Adamson, 58). The Greasers don’t have many people there for them, the rest of society, but they now have to stick together (Hinton, 176). According to The Outsiders, some of the boys in the Greaser face different problems. Darry became responsible for his little brothers, Ponyboy and SodaPop since their parents died, they fight all the time, and throughout the story try to reconcile and come to an understanding of knowing they need one another. (Hinton, 176). Even though the Greasers are stereotyped, and face different problems, they all share a bond of honor that holds innocence and love. Johnny may seem to be a horrible person for killing Bob, but he saves the children in the burning church, which meant he still had
The Greasers were really poor people that can’t afford anything in their life so they do bad things. “We’re poor than the Socs and the middle class.”(pg.3). The Greasers were poorer than the middle class, which means they are very poor. Greasers almost can’t afford anything because they describe themselves poorer than the middle class. “Greasers are almost like the hoods; we steal things and drive up old souped-up cars and hold up gas stations…”(pg..3). The Greasers would even rob stores just to get money. The Greasers describe the hoods like themselves that is why people think they are
A greaser is really a hood “gang” that no one really cares about but they get into a lot of trouble and go to jail a lot. A soc is in a higher class and are very smart and talented yet are very mean and brutal to the greasers. I would personally be a mean tuff greaser than the little rich kids that lose fights. The greasers and the socs have a war between them, neither of them like each other. The greasers get jumped by the socs all the time, and they are more scared of them because they are older, at least most of them. Quite a ways through the book, towards the end, the greasers and socs have a “rumble” it is kinda like a HUGE fight between everyone! All though the greasers won that doesn’t make any less of the socs. The greasers are all
When Ponyboy was getting his head shoved in a fountain and held there by a Soc, Johnny had jumped in to save him. Johnny may have killed the Soc, but he did it to protect himself and Ponyboy, but Johnny is a greaser so he looks guilty to the police either way. “ I killed him,” he said slowly. “I killed that boy.” (Hinton pg. 56). I don’t know if you would call this heroic, but I think it is. The greasers stand up for each other so, if you roll with them you better be willing to die
The greasers were poor than the socs or the middle class. This may give away the fact after their parents died they couldn’t afford everything alone, so they decided to live together and split the pay. “Greasers” were like family since
Some people see the Greasers just as delinquents, but others see them as heroes. The Greasers from The Outsiders are honorable because they’re not selfish. Also, they have each others back and don’t leave anyone behind. In the same way, they help each other in any way they could. To conclude, even though many people can make carefree choices, changing one act can show a different perspective of that
Most people think of the lawless as bad people, but, is it possible for these “bad people” to have honor? In the book The Outsiders by S.E Hinton, a gang called The Greasers go through a tough journey. During this journey there is a lot of pain and even some deaths. However in the end, they still stand together. This essay will be proving that The Greasers, who break the law, are still honorable because they help each other, risk their lives for others, and defend each other.
To begin, they (the Greasers, outlaws, criminals, etc.) stand up for each other. For example, when Ponyboy was drowning, Johnny killed the Soc (who was drowning Pony). “ ‘Yeah.’
In the book, the greasers are looked upon to be muscular and like the bad guys, so Johnny would be a great example of selfless and loyal, and not trying to be the bad guy. It takes a lot of courage to do something out of the ordinary. Normally, Johnny does not go out of his comfort zone, but he has done some pretty extraordinary actions. To refer to, loyal
They show many ways of loyalty they’re there for each other no matter what. From the begging to end they were there when Johnny, Dally, and Ponyboy were in the hospital. However Dally was loyal to Ponyboy and Johnny because he wouldn’t tell Sodapop or Darry where they were no matter what. Dally gave them money and a place to run off till things died down. The Greasers are loyal to eachother because they share the similar backrounds so they relate to each other
