9/11 shook the world, and the world responded with universal support and condolences. When the United States launched its war on terror, no one was against it. But in the past ten years, that sympathy towards the United States has been decreasing, notably in Germany. Factors such as media, books by reputable authors, and the US starting the Iraq war have affected the opinions of German citizens on the events of 9/11. Doubt about who was behind the attack and the accuracy of the information given has become more common. A distrust of the United States Government, especially regarding foreign policy, has begun to spread across Germany.
The media has had a large effect on the German opinions of the events of 9/11 in the past sixteen years. One controversial media portrayal of 9/11 was ZDF’s documentary, “Sept 11, 2001 – What Really Happened.” This documentary showed what was claimed to be “never before published documents and footage” and information from “well-known skeptics, experts and eyewitnesses to the attacks.” (Broder) In reality, the documentary showed mostly known footage, or footage that could have been easily have been faked. It entertained conspiracies such as American involvement. The TV station took a survey of who the viewers thought was the perpetrator of 9/11, and the results show that a majority of people did not believe that the attack was led by Osama bin Laden. Fifty percent of voters believed that the United States government or George W Bush was at
September 11th 2001 there was a surprise attack on the United States by terrorists. The terrorists allegedly hijacked four airplanes. One was meant for the White House, one was meant for the Pentagon and the other two were meant for the twin tower which fell and many lives were lost. However some say it was not terrorists and that it was the United States government and that the government set a bomb and that they had several motives to do this.
Explain in your own words how the threat, the attack and the response to the September 11, 2001 attack moved American policing into the era of Homeland Security
One of the the most terrible events that happened in the US was 9/11. 9/11 caused so many lives and injuries to many people. Many families have had to deal with the tragic losses that happened that day. There was many other things that led up to 9/11 that a lot of people may not know about. Many may not know but 9/11 was an inside job that has been planned for months and maybe years.
Nearly everyone in America remembers this day and the significance that it had in their life. Just the mention of September 11th (9/11) is enough to instill certain feelings in Americans. Those old enough to have lived through that day almost certainly can remember where they were and what they were doing when they heard the news on September 11th 2001. The terrible images playing on the televised news reports for days and weeks and the images of the attacks are burned in all of our minds.
It’s crazy how something as small as someone’s beliefs can cause one of the biggest tragedies worldwide. All it took was more than a dozen terrorist, two planes, and a well thought out plan to create the catastrophe we call the 9/11 attack but they call a tremendous heroic event. This was simply an act of being at the right place at the wrong time. 9/11 could be seen all the way in space but was felt by the people in the smallest towns to enormous cities. Although the crashes on 9/11 happened in the amount 102 minutes the aftermath lasted about 99 days yet will never be forgotten among everyone everywhere. Those were truly 102 minutes that shook the world and for some it will never stop shaking.
Many people, including myself, would consider the terrorist attack of 9/11 as one of the most horrific events in US history. This event had changed and affected not just America but the entire world. .
Every American citizen can remember exactly where they were on the day September 11, 2001, this day was burned into the mind of American because the biggest terrorist attack in American history would occur. Two Boeing planes hijacked by a terrorist organization named al-Qaeda who would crash the planes into the world trades centers, sending America into shock(Pizzo,2016). There have been countless laws and regulations passed in America since the awful terrorist attacks on 9/11, has it been effective or a failure. The attack on September 11, 2001, will forever be a turning point in American history, it raised one of the most important questions in American society today what is more import for a citizen freedom or security and the law put in place to combat these horrific terrorist attack ultimately would be ineffective and tear American more apart on political issues.
September 11, 2001, the start of terrorism in The United States, and the end of innocence in our lives. Some of us are lucky to never know the fright of that horrid day. For others though, the events that transpired on September 11 will live on forever in their memory.
The attacks on the United States on September 11, 2001 were the direct result of the failure of US agencies, ranging from the White House to airport security, to recognize vulnerabilities present in the various symptoms. The reason why these vulnerabilities were not acknowledged and repaired is that these various agencies were trapped in a cognitive dissonance cycle of thinking. After the Cold War, terrorism was seen as a regional problem (9/11 Commission, 92). The majority of terrorist groups were either groups sponsored by governments or militants trying to create governments (i.e. Palestine Liberation Organization). As a result, the tactics used for fighting terrorism were centralized mostly in the Middle East and were restricted to
Throughout the years that have passed many changing have been going on, either good or bad depends how people take it. Since 9/11, there have been different profiling due to that fact. For example, Detention and questioning at airports, Investigation of Muslim charities, bullying at schools, and workplace discrimination.
Nearly three thousand people lost their lives due to this horrible tragedy. That evening, President George W. Bush stood unflinching as he condemned these acts of terror and reminded us all that “America has stood down enemies before, and we will do so this time” (CNN). Within the next few days, Osama bin Laden and Al Qaeda were accused of orchestrating these acts of ‘terror’. Fast forward twelve years to a poll sponsored by ReThink911 where they found that ten percent of Americans do not believe the official government account of September 11th, and thirty-eight percent doubt the American governments official 9/11 story (ReThink911.org). This begs to wonder why so many Americans do not trust what the government has told them. What reasons would the United States government have for lying about September 11th 2001? The connection between the Bush’s and Bin Laden’s, the actions of Donald Rumsfeld, misinformation in the official 9/11 report from the U.S. Government, and a history of the United States utilizing false flag operation’s to justify entering a war are some of the reasons Americans questions the official record of September
Most Americans remember the hardship from the events that took place on September 11, 2001. It was a very hard time for many families; loved ones were passing or saying their last words over the phone. It was hard on more than just those people though. Through it, all heroes stepped-up and terrorists were overcome. Damage was done, but memorials were built to remember the good, not the bad. September 11, 2001, is a day that terrorists tried to bring America to its knees; however, heroes arose to act as true patriots to save hundreds of lives including Flight 93 and the Pentagon.
America’s viewpoint on the Muslim group of people was significantly prejudiced by post 9/11. The entire Muslim community was vision negatively as of the events that was taken by Al Qaeda an international terrorist group formed by Osama Bin Laden. Soon, subsequent to the bombing of the twin towers, primary awareness of Muslims habitually originated from labels relating to the Middle East as a whole. According to “Affective Politics after 9/11” Todd Hall proposed that 9/11 was a sensitively prominent event that created an emotional shock wave. He believed the original place of influence were the countless effective reaction of people in the United States who has watched the series of terrorist attacks unfold and causes Americans to view Muslims
The dreadful occurrence of 9/11 is in and of itself a horrible reality that is a fact of American history. However, the Bush administration attempted to alter that reality by turning that event into something else. According to Nuzzo, the only way the Bush administration could have made it seem as if America as an “absolute victim,” free of any fault, was to mark the event as the beginning of conflict between the two sides (338). To say that 9/11 was the effect of unprecedented evil was the only way that Bush could use 9/11 as a cause for invading Iraq and hunting down Hussein and bin Laden (Nuzzo 338). The messages and propaganda put forth by the media and government following 9/11 and leading up to the 2003 invasion of Iraq persuaded
Many bad things happened September 11, 2001. Also many people lost family members that work at the World Trade Center. Also people lost family m in Arlington County, Virginia. The Twin Towers were the tallest buildings in the world. Many families were sad for their lost ones on 9/11 in New York and Virginia.
