“Despite the negative press covfefe” (Donald Trump). What does it mean? Who or what is covfefe? Why was this said? Was it an accident? With all the questions, it seems there was only thing everyone can agree on - it was a quite unique tweet. Donald Trump, much like his tweets, is the very definition of an outlier. With no political experience, this man rose in the polls and was able to become the president of the United States, beating out Hillary Clinton, who had years of political experience under her belt. This is the same man who lives in a penthouse New York apartment. The same man who has repeatedly walked out on interviews, where as most people would have stayed for the free press, because he believed they were unfair questions. The list goes on and on. Donald Trump is in no way an average person, much less an average president. He is more, and defined much by his previous experiences. However, there are a couple of factors that really stand out in making Donald Trump an outlier. Donald Trump’s views on free speech, his self confidence, and his unique business and marketing strategies all help to form Trump’s identity and make him into the outlier he is today.
One major factor that makes Donald Trump and outlier is his views on free speech. "The way I see it, critics get to say what they want to about my work, so why shouldn't I be able to say what I want to about theirs?" (Trump). This quote shows that Trump has the right to say whatever he wants to whoever he wants. This quote makes him an outlier because most people, regardless of popularity, would avoid saying negative things towards the press since the press are the ones who distribute the information about you. Another great Trump quote that reveals is further evidence for his views is. “ I think more people should have that (speak up) attitude, and I think you’d find a lot more accurate reporting, including yours.” The CNN Interviewer proceeds to ask for examples. “It doesn’t matter, I don’t think your viewers would be very interested in it nor do I want to embarrass you. … You know what, do this interview with somebody else … frankly, you’re a very negative guy, and I think it’s very
Wouldn’t you like to go to sleep knowing that you are safe? Donald Trump would like to keep you safe. I would vote for Donald Trump because he wants to take care of serious issues such as immigration, Isis, and the current gun issues. Donald Trump is a fearless leader who isn’t afraid to say what's on his mind. He says the truth whether it is a brutal reality or not. I feel that Donald Trump will take care of us with these ways and more.
With the media reporting on the presidential election coming up and the running candidates, there is a bias when the newscasters are reporting them to the public. Goldberg stated “CBS News—which claims to stand for fairness and objectivity—allow words like ‘scheme’ and ‘wacky ' in what is supposed to be a straight news story about a legitimate candidate running for president of the United States.” Goldberg’s statement is true today with running candidate Donald Trump. There is a lot of negative views on Trump but for reporters to place their own opinion on him when reporting the news is not right. Newscasters are to report in a straight objective way and inserting their views on the candidate is not being objective. No matter what the public is thinking about Trump, the reporters should not be putting their view on him or any other candidate when reporting. Trump is very egotistic but for a newscaster to state their opinion on this trait of him is not being
Trump is a name with a lot of history and a lot of connotation that only continues to grow as Donald Trump runs his presidential campaign. With all the backing that he proclaims, Trump still shows alarming qualities for a man that could be rising to power. He shows inconsistency which alludes to a weakness of character that makes him a poor presidential candidate. He is widely known for his aggressive arrogant ideas, which appeals to come people, but major concern arises from Trump being unable to defend his own ideas and, when he is questioned about them, he turns tail and flip-flops his opinions. Being able to clearly and concisely present ideas and then defend them seems like an elementary concept of how to build a solid platform, yet it
There is much dissention and controversy surrounding the political opponents and the upcoming presidential election that will occur in November 2016. Many candidates, both Democrat and Republican, along with their supporters, are setting precedence with their abusive and abrasive behavior. In many instances they are disrespectful, dishonest, uncooperative, and un-American in their pursuit of the highest political office in our country. The most aggressive and unprofessional candidate of all is Donald Trump. When I’m president, I’m a different person. I can do anything,” he said. “I can be the most politically correct person you’ve ever seen.” In my opinion, this man does not belong in the white house and should not become the president of anything.
Donald John Trump is currently one of the candidates for the Republican nomination for the President of the United States in the 2016 election. He is having no trouble winning numerous state caucuses and is currently the leading candidate with the most delegates among his republican peers. In the media, he is a candidate that seems to have the most air time compared to all of his contenders; his saturated exposure can be considered one of the major contributor to his rising popularity. Trump delivers simple but effective rhetoric about tax cuts for the rich as well as the poor, anti-free trade, tough immigration reform, Nationalism, and other topics that naturally draw in support from the average right-winged conservative individual. His crazy
In order to change the mind of someone, something big needs to happen to grab their attention, and what better way to do so than doing something unexpected and/or outrageous. For President Trump, any press is good press, which means to him there’s no such thing as bad press; therefore, unexpected and outrageous are part of his charismatic persona that many people seem to flock to.
There are any reasons why hillary clinton should have won. Im am going to state only a few reasons why donald trump should have lost. Hillary even won the popular vote and still lost the election to a rapist a sexist and a racist. And the many other horrible things that donald trump is. Donald trump violates a lot of the constitution not letting people have the same rights. Deporting people who are citizens just because they look wrong to him. He's a jerk and bully he doesn't care what other people want just what he wants. When he says he will “make america great again” no it should be he will “make america bad again”. All he ever does is criticize people around him. He doesn't care what they think all he cares about is himself. He goin got cause a war with someone (most likely iraq).
I donnot agree that Trump stood out in this debate, he did not show the same strength and toughness than in previous debates. Trump seemed confident since he leads the national polls. That is why the mogul did not strike back at the attack of his opponents, he probably did not want to say anything that could damage his position of front-runner, and he just let his opponents fighting
Downgrading. That is this election in a nutshell. I have not felt more annoyed with politics and media outlets than ever before, since Donald Trump announced his candidacy on June 16, 2015 ,with those empty four words "Make America Great Again" , we learned that Trump is nothing, but a whining child that erupts on any ounce of criticism from either side. Why did he gain the support of voters with such minuet substance, like building a wall or banning all Muslims? I believe voters fell into the same trap as Bernie supporters , by appealing to people with on the spot ideas without any real consideration. The validity of free college is equivalent to building a wall paid for by Mexico, both are incompatible in the real world.
Because his audience consists of individuals who are discontent with the way government affairs are conducted, they seem to appreciate the way Donald Trump boldly expresses his opinions and ideas with little filtration. By directly addressing the issues that anger people,
In today’s world, the most controversial politician in this era is the president of the U.S. How did Trump possibly get to the point where he was able to lead the republican party, even with overflowing controversy? Can anybody with immense wealth/fortune and/or credible political connections become the frontrunner of the presidential election? Regardless of one’s answer, after this presidential election the outlook on the set up and landscape of politics will change drastically. The accusations of assault, moral dishonesty, and racism towards Trump has brought more turmoil in the political world, feuds among the people, and rambunctious protests within communities than any other presidential election this century. Even though degrading controversy is associated with Trump, he was still able to use highly effective sarcastic and hyperbolic rhetoric, which translated to entertainment, to capture votes and overcome accusations of assault.
Trump administration is becoming more dominant than others major corporation. However, I believe that the U.S citizens do not have a word of their own opinion. In order to have a voice or an opinion, its must require being very wealthy or own a major corporation. No doubt President Donald Trump is building an Autocracy government for an example in the article "Washington issued a temporary restraining order freezing enforcement of Trump’s immigrant and refugee ban"(1) this shows the example of what kind of power the president have. According to the constitution, Donald Trump is violating the rights of Muslims because of their religion, President Trump has a sensation that all Muslims are bad.
In conclusion, Donald Trump is both charismatic and holds himself in high esteem, he is eager to explain how exceptionally well he did in the election and does this in great length in his speeches. He even has a framed map of the 2016 election results displayed in the White House (Lozada, 2017). In his recent speech in Poland, Trump made reference to the ‘West’ ten times. Beinart (2017) argues that in this context the West is not a geographical term, but a racial and religious one. Trump is unlike his predecessors, who acknowledged that democracy and capitalism were not Western, but the universal aspiration of humankind. Previous leaders of the US discussed globalisation as a process where America improved the world. However, Trump describes globalisation as a process by which the world cheats, weakens and threatens America. His words, ‘The fundamental question of our time is whether the West has the will to survive’ (Trump, 2017), only makes sense if non-white, non-Christians are seen as invaders. Thus, this implies that anyone in America who is non-white and non-Christian is a threat. Trump, by describing that being Western is the essence to the US’s identity, is defining the US to be in opposition to many of its own people.
While spending time trying, as Trump suggested, to figure out what "covfefe" means is a waste, it's far more worthwhile to take a big step back and look at the situation that leads to the President of the United States tweeting, poorly, at 12:06 a.m. about the bad press he
Using The New York Times news page I found an article asking, “is it possible for Trump to be a good president?” (Painter) This article states many reasons why Trump has made it this far, and why he might have what it takes to be a successful, loved President. Many ask, “what happened on election day?”(Painter) as it was quite shocking that Trump had won the election. Finding sources on the media responding to Trumps positive and smart decisions seems much harder to find rather than negative comments nearly everywhere on news pages. There seems to be tons of the past confrontations, bankruptcies, crimes, and transactions in Trumps records that create a large number of anti-Trump supporters. Although the people may not enjoy it, Trump is still sitting in the
