The Civil War took place from 1861 to 1865. Perhaps the most influential war in American history, the Civil War was fought between the northern states and the southern states of America over slavery. Shortly after Abraham Lincoln was elected as the president on March 4, 1861, South Carolina Seceded from the Union. Other states followed in suit, forming the Confederate States of America with its capital at Montgomery, Alabama, its president Jefferson Davis. As controversy flared higher as a result of this event, the Confederates took Fort Sumter. Soon, the Union joined the war. The northern states were referred to as the Union army, with leaders including Ulysses S. Grant. The Southern states were referred to as the Confederate

Throughout the Civil War the South was Favoured to win the War because of certain advantages; but with certain new unknown types of battles that started such as naval battles, and improvements to the ships of the Navy can be linked to why the North became the victor of the Civil War. For centuries before the Civil War, large naval battles had not changed dramatically. Battle in the times before the Civil War were fought by wooden, sail-driven ships carrying as many cannon as possible, which would shoot at each other until one of them became so damaged that it could not keep up the fight. In the decade before the Civil War, however, major developments in naval technology forever changed the face of naval warfare. Even though the South was thought to have the advantage over the North the North was able to take advantage of the new technologies that were coming out to actually bring them a victory that set precedents that would last till the present day.

The Civil War began in April of 1861 and came to an end in 1865. It was a U.S war fought between the Northern and Southern States. Although there were various controversial differences, there wasn’t only one reason that pushed the outbreak of war. What caused the Civil War? The United States was divided by geographical lines, modernization, and slavery.

These issues often came up in the presidential debates between Abraham Lincoln and Stephen A. Douglas. Abraham Lincoln and the North believed that all slavery should end, while Stephen A. Douglas and the South thought that every state had a right to choose if they wanted slavery or not. By the time the Civil War started, people were as furious as they possibly could be at each other. The war officially started when Southern troops attacked Fort Sumter, South Carolina. When the battles started, the Northern states and Southern states were both fighting for what they believed to be right. Although the North had more men and supplies than the South, it was still a hard fought battle. Countless people died during this war and, the most gruesome battle was the Battle of Gettysburg. The war itself is not considered quite controversial, but the issues of it are and there are many reasons as to why.

It was between the northern states called the Union, and the Southern states called the Confederacy. The Civil War changed America in many positive ways. The war brought us together by bringing our economy together and making us the country outputting the most goods. None of this would have been able to happen if the civil war had never happen. The brave soldiers of the Civil War made it possible for us to have an amazing economy, end slavery, and show how we could reconstruct our country. He dreaded to see the existence among the people of the southern states that by the rise of the Republican Administration their property and their peace and personal security are to be endangered. Abraham Lincoln had no purpose, directly or indirectly, to interfere with the institution of slavery in the states where it exists. He thought states should compose new unions as to produce harmony only and prevent renewed secessions? He said we are not enemies but friends.

From 1861-1865, the American Civil War began. It consisted of two big parts the North and the South. North and South have very many good and bad strengths and weaknesses.
