The quote is right it says “ultimately, the Civil War reduced sectional antagonism and made the United States truly ‘ one nation”, yes the Civil War was a turning in U.S. history it ended “slavery”, it led to “military innovations”, and it “brought the northern and southern states together”. The 13th amendment ended slavery it freed all the slaves in the United States. in 1860 Abraham lincoln was against slavery. He dreaded to see the existence among the people of the southern states that by the rise of the Republican Administration their property and their peace and personal security are to be endangered. Abraham Lincoln had no purpose, directly or indirectly, to interfere with the institution of slavery in the states where it exists.
