When people hear the word “college”, many panic inside at the thought. But, when I hear the word “college” I think about Illinois State University. In early July, I attended an Open House at ISU for my very first official college visit. As I stepped onto campus, I couldn’t but help to feel like it was my future home. Many aspects of the tour made me draw nearer to choosing this college after finishing my High School career. Illinois State University seems to fit my personality very well, has an amazing program for what I want to study, and is an outstanding campus for my academic strengths and weaknesses.

Ever since I was a kid, I have always dreamed of being able to go to UW-Madison. From it being known as the best college in the Midwest to the amount of opportunities and variety of subjects it has, UW Madison has always been my dream college to attend. As a Wilmington resident of seventeen years, my choice to attend the University of North Carolina Wilmington is ‘without a shadow of a doubt’ an easy one. In eighth grade, I began to seriously decipher through colleges, and attempted to decide which one was meant for me. UNCW wasn’t initially my first choice, but as I got older, matured, did extensive research, and with my college years growing nearer, it became very evident that it was where I needed to be.

With what people believe to be the rising cost of tuition, the question “Is college worth its cost?” is on many American minds. The answer is a simple and clear ‘yes’. Of course, with this higher education, it has a high cost and a reputation for it. About 1 trillion dollars of student loans will be granted to students across the nation from the federal government. Another 100 million will be from privately owned banks (Student Loan Debt). With these statistics, theoretically, one student of the 21 million will owe $47,619.05. This value may convince people that college isn't worth the financial investment. My recent decision to enroll in a university to continue and complete my pursuit of an undergraduate degree was not especially difficult. Selection of and commitment to a particular university was not as simple. Multiple factors including, but not limited to, price point, reputation, ease of access, and career relevance were weighed. Whether that range from the arts to the conscience. It is this very effort that makes me think that Northwestern is one the best universities for my persona. Its diversity in schooling is something that I am very keen to. The university has a school of music, a school of arts and sciences, a school of communication and many more. This appeals to me because my interests range much like the schools that are at Northwestern. I love singing my heart out with intense vibrato but compassionate tone.
