Did you ever go home to be pounded with homework? Is there just to much you can’t focus and do it all. Kids have sports and other activities to do too. Maybe children shouldn’t get as much homework as they do each day. Homework is proven to cause sleep problems, bad grades, and physical health problems. Studies prove that too much homework is actually not good for your health. One reason children should not get a lot of homework everyday is because of their physical health. According to CNN they say that,” Migraines, stomach problems, sleep

Believe it or not this is actually true. An article on “Daily Mail” says,”Youngsters who spend too much time studying after school were likely to underachieve in the same way as those who do very little.” This proves to readers that kids who spend too much of their time studying actually don’t get a great grade. Kids that study more actually get worse grades than kids who study for a couple minutes. This website also states that girls spend too much time on homework and studying that they get worse grades. This shows that maybe kids don’t need as much homework to succeed in school. All of these evidence shows why children and teens should not be receiving a lot of homework each
Kids shouldn't have homework. Kids have stuff to do like sports, spending time with family and working. Instead of doing 6 or so hours of homework every night. “homework came in behind not only socializing but also exercise or sports as well as working for pay.” (Gazette, par. 24) I agree because some students have to rush to get their homework done at lunch or before school because they either have sports or have to go to work everyday.
Kids as of now go to school for eight hours and their brain tends to shut down, causing health complications. It’s not safe for children to inherit these health complications at an earlier age. They will not be able to accomplish the academic success that they intend to do. Homework is suppose to increase the learning capacity of the student and not disservice them
After a long day of school, students are tired, stressed, and overworked. This is often something that is ignored when it comes to students of all ages. Homework provides a heavy load that can add additional stress and time on a student’s shoulders. Schools should be making sure that students are receiving enough work throughout the day, to make sure kids do not have the worry of homework when school is over. Students who receive lots of homework, may not have enough time in the evenings to be around family, friends and enjoy the rest of their day.
In the article “ When Homework Takes Over,” by Merri Rosenberg, she quotes ‘ A new study finds that heavy homework takes negative impacts on the lives of high school students, resulting excess stress, physical problems, and little time for leisure. This shows that excessive homework can lead to high stress levels and physical problems for teens and children. Rosenberg also states ‘Teachers handing out more assignments than ever is making kids stressed, their sleep
Studies show that homework can cause sleep loss and other health problems. In Ontario, schools teachers should not be allowed to assign homework to students because kids are busy doing sports or other events. Also, parents want to see their kids after school. Another reason is kids are tired and might stay up late trying to finish.
The quality of students’ homework is much more important than the quantity of students homework and data collected during recent studies has proven that homework is not making the grade. “. . . American students are entangled in the middle of international academic rankings: 17th in reading, 23rd in science, and 31st in math according to the most recent results from the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA)” (Murphy-Paul). Students should not be given an excessive amount of homework because the pressure of having to complete excessive amounts of homework every night is quite daunting for most students. Knowing how much homework is the right amount correlates with age and grade. An 8th grade student should not be given a myriad of homework that would keep her awake past midnight completing assignments. In any case, there should be a limit on the amount of homework all teachers give to students because an excessive amount of homework would eventually cause students to become uninterested in school and learning, which could result in poor test scores and low ranks in international academic rankings. In order for students to carry out daily activities throughout the day restfully, teachers must be able to provide homework that does not exceed the appropriate amount of time needed to complete it, which is based on grade level. If teachers are too clueless of a students health due to excessive amounts of homework, many students will develop cases of sleep
New York University did a study to see how homework has effects on student's health. They found that students don't have a balance in life, they don't have much social time, sleep, and some use drugs to calm down. I even stay up some nights from homework, and then the next day I am really exhausted.
Surprisingly, too much homework a night can result in stress. According to “Homework can have an Impact on Kids Health,” more than 30 minutes a night can cause children and teens to become more stressful the next day. In addition to so much homework, parents get stressed with their kids having afterschool sports and afterschool activities knowing they have homework to do. For this
Now that you have a list of sources and have written down some basic evidence, you need to make sure that you find information from those sources that relates to and supports your claim and your reasons. One of the most basic ways to find information from your sources is to first look for examples. Can you find an example of what you’re trying to claim? Can you find an example of your reason?
The next reason too much homework is harmful to students is that studies show more homework to cause lower test scores. One to two hours of homework a week does not cause a major change in test scores (Wolchover). There is no evidence of homework having any academic benefit in elementary or middle school, and the academic benefit found in high school is very weak (Kohn). Homework is not shown to help students academically until grades ten through twelve (Wolchover). There is also no proof that homework increases good study habits in students (Kohn).
First, kids of many ages go through some type of stress throughout their lifetime. If kids have stress, they tend not to do so well in school because their either being buried in homework, or they just don’t try at all. Lisa Morgues , a mom of seven in Fullerton, California, who is against any homework says “ Kids are tired after that and need to unwind and engage in nonacademic activities -- many of which are just as valuable in creating a well-rounded person as academics are.”. Another example would be a dad who tries to do his eighth grade daughter Esmees’ homework “ I am surprised by the amount of reading. Reading and writing is what I do for a living, but in my middle age, I’ve slowed down.”.All kids want to do, is do their
Persuasive Writing Prompt November 2017 “People never learn anything by being told, they have to find out for themselves.” This quote was from Paulo Coelho, a lyricist, and novelist. This quote explains why I want to experience Sano Japan. I want to know what Sano Japan is like, I want to experience its culture, atmosphere and more. I want to go because things like books and YouTube videos, just don’t show what it is really like there. The only way you can actually experience it is by being there in person like the quote says. I have grown up in Lancaster for all my life, I grew up in a family that wasn’t as great as others. My parents both were people who really wanted to go to college, but the cost was just too great for them. This however

In a survey by the University of Phoenix, they were seeing on average how many hours of night a normal student has. High school students typically have about 18 hours of homework each week, which means that on a daily basis a student has around 3 hours of homework (Lauren H). If students are in school for around eight hours a day, then have three hours worth of homework to do when they get home, it doesn't leave much time to do leisure activities, or to bond with your family and friends. With students not having a lot of free time, it makes it hard to maintain healthy relationships with those around you such as family and even yourself. A study was done to see how homework affects you outside of school. “The results offer empirical evidence that many students struggle to find balance between homework, extracurricular activities and social time” (Parker). Students already have limited time to do activities they enjoy throughout the school day, but after school students should be able to play a sport or go see friends, but often times students have to drop extracurriculars in order for them to be able to get their homework completed. Teenagers should be playing sports and other teenager type activities, and it is not fair to take those opportunities to develop in other areas of life away. Often times, students feel like they have to pick between sports and schoolwork. Many students feel that they have to choose school over working on their other skills such as sports. It is a very difficult task to balance school with other things. Students are pressured to excel in school and sports at the same time, but for some people it just isn't possible to have both. Students should not be forced or feel obligated to choose between school and other
