I don’t agree that pro athletics should get paid more than soldiers. Pro athletics all they do is play. Soldiers are who fight as part of an organized land-based and some lose their lives. The athletics should not get paid more cause they play with different teams in the fields. The athletic they can take a day off and soldiers can not. Athletic can get vacations like Thanksgiving, Christmas. The players get played like 4 million dollars. They do not need to get pay more than the soldiers. The soldiers save our lives. They go and fight for our country. They should get paid more than the athletic players. Some soldiers are homeless. They fight with guns and bombs and they go to the military to learn how to shoot the enemy. They lose
Why should sports players get paid more than soldiers? Sports players risk not only their lives, just as soldiers do too, but also the future of their career. Imagine risking your life, your future, and your whole family on a everyday basis. This is the life of all sports players. Most people are always biased on this topic because they have friends or family members serving in the military or simply because people are willing to go into war for the love of their nation. Although most people may be biased, there are many reasons why sports players should be paid more and why they are paid more.
But why should a student athlete be paid in the first place? Their just athletes right? They go to school just like everyone else? What makes them so special? What makes a college athlete different than the average student is the amount of revenue that they help bring to their selected colleges. This type of revenue is made up from ticket sales, merchandise, media rights and contributions. “USA today” reported that the University of Texas generated $167.7 million dollars from their athletic programs, and that’s just one school. With this in mind, imagine just how much money other colleges are making from their athletics. Sure one can make the argument that they should not be paid because they are not professionals, but one can’t ignore the fact that they are bringing in millions of dollars and seeing none of it.
This isn’t an argument that proposes colligate athletes should be paid just because they work hard. The reasoning extends far beyond their work ethics. First of all, colligate athletics is a billion dollar industry. On average, 44,367 fans attend a college football game. Imagine that a university such as Ohio State holds 7 games at Ohio Stadium as it did in 2003. 105.000+ fans can occupy Ohio Stadium at one time. At the least, one may find a ticket for $50, if they are lucky. During one Ohio State football game, at least $5.25 million will be made. This is just one source of revenue the university receives. Not to mention, merchandise, concessions, and BSC appearances. All are major contributors to the lucrative business of college athletics.
For years, there have always been talks about should college athletes be paid. That conversation stirs up a huge argument it never fails. College sports such as Football, Basketball, and baseball bring in massive amounts of revenues to the university, but the players are not allowed to get a portion. Division I football players say they spend over 40 hours a week practicing or playing their sport, and fewer than 40 hours on academics. The athletes are working a full-time job when involved in sports. Not being allowed to have a job to have money for extracurricular activities. College athletes put their bodies on the line every day, risking minor injuries or sometimes even career ending injuries. In my opinion, college athletes should be
Not everyone in this country fights for our freedoms and protection.Soldiers are the heroes who risk and give up freedoms for their country and they are brave people who don't just care for us to be entertained. They give us protection and freedoms so that others can entertain us like athletes. The world is not just about athletes entertaining us but about the freedoms we have in this country thanks to soldiers.I believe soldiers should be paid more for all that they do for there country and people living in it.Can you imagine life without freedoms.Well thanks to soldiers we don't have to worry about it.
While most people disagree on whether college athletes should be paid, there are several factors that should be taken into consideration when debating this topic. Because basketball and football bring such a profit to colleges, the money earned pays for smaller sports within the college (ex. Volleyball, Soccer, and Lacrosse). If these big sport players were being paid, small athletic teams would be cut due to the lack of profitable money (Anderson). It’s not fair that these smaller teams would be terminated. An
The reason why should be paid. College Athletes should be paid based on team success. The NCAA has highly profitable sporting events yet the players in the game get nothing. NCAA make billions but athletes don't get anything they deserve for making the money. College athletes should be paid.
College athletes should not be paid. Getting paid to go to college to play a sport is unfair to other students that don't play a sport. If a student is good at a certain sport they should just get a scholarship nothing else.
Life isn’t fair, but we all know that. Instead of the athletes sharing in the revenue they create, it’s just the fat cats who benefit. The NCAA has multiple billions of dollars in revenue every year. but the athletes don't see a pretty penny of that. Lots of people believe that college athletes should not be compensated monetarily. by the means of money. They think that a scholarship is enough compensation for the athlete’s work. However, But what people do not know is that not all athletes get scholarships, and not all scholarships include things like food and clothes. So college athletes should be paid extra money for three reasons: the players put in lots of work, the NCAA makes billions of dollars every year, and the NCAA acts as an employer.
I think that teachers, doctors, firefighters and law enforcement should get paid more than professional athletes. I think this because teachers provide education for people who want to become something like a professional athlete. A teacher educates people. Doctors and firefighters help people and even save people's lives. Also they all have to go and pay for college a lot longer than a professional athlete would have to. Being a professional athlete does not have very many benefits. If anything it is a more risk of getting hurt. It is entertaining for some people to watch and
The difference between how soldiers and athletes were paid is that most athletes, instead of money, were given a place to sleep, food, and other athletic essentials. They would be paid monetary values if they won and this
A life of a soldier is hard, but through all the pain they go through they still get paid a small amount of what an athlete makes. Also when a soldier dies he gets various of benefits like “death gratuity" of $100,000”,ent-free military family housing for up to a year or an allowance for
Soccer players should also get paid a lot more money than soldiers because they give tickets away to the people who come to watch the game, also they should get paid more because they are doing something that is interesting. They may have some injuries but
It is practically absurd that our country is willing to pay the NFL players more money than the people who are making it possible for them to get paid in the first place. Without our military force, our country may not even be in the state where these football players get paid as much as they do, yet the soldiers are the ones suffering from this. A quick look online can find hundreds of people talking about how sickening it is for our veterans and current active duty soldiers to be paid so little, yet almost nothing is done about this. Although, how could something truly be done, our country is centered around business and the economy, and our military simply does not fit into that. Our country was built around the idea of business, and with that comes a price, which is that our military cannot receive as much of an income, no matter how immoral it is.
Hello everyone I stand here before to talk about money issues between the soldiers that are sent out to protect our freedom and the pro athletes here for our amusement. I know there are many sports fans in the audience today. I am not saying pro athletes are essential to our way life. But what I am saying that we need to pay a little more to the men and women in war right now.
