Although a large amount of people have heard of her, many don’t know a lot about her life, what she did, and what she accomplished throughout her life. Audrey Hepburn was born in Brussels, Belgium on May 4, 1929. Her father’s job had her moving moving between England, Belgium, and the Netherlands. She was sent to a boarding school when she was five. The next year her father abandoned her and the rest of her family. In 1939, she moved to the Netherlands along with her mom and half-brothers. The Netherlands were invaded by Nazis in 1940. During World War II, she suffered greatly from malnutrition and was forced into hiding. She continued to study dance during this time and often offered dance lessons out of her home. She and her family moved to Amsterdam once the war was over. In Amsterdam, she studied ballet. To earn extra money, she modeled during her free time. In 1948, she got a small role in the film Dutch in Seven Lessons. She also moved back to London that year, where she was given a dance scholarship. Since she didn’t have much training in dance, she decided it wasn’t the right thing for her. In 1954 she got married to actor Mel Ferrer, but they divorced in 1968.
