T.V show awkward vs. High school July of 2011 my favorite tv show aired for the first time. It’s a tv show about high school and exactly how fucked up it is. Awkward is not based on true events but it could’ve been because it is 99% accurate.
The tv show Awkward has definitely shown me the side of high school that doesn’t exist. These things include parents being okay with boyfriends staying the night, and parties on Sundays. Awkward also shows parents fighting then apologizing to their kids, when in reality parents will make you feel like crap then never apologize. Actual high school is usually filled with studying until 1am, losing your best friend (and not getting her back), living off of redbull and constantly fighting with your parents.
High school is always considered some of the best years of life. Students live with their families, see their friends almost everyday, and participate in the activities they love with the people they love. It has enough freedom for the student to decide how hard they will try, but it also has just the right amount of restrictions that parents can step in to make the student work. High school also gives students many opportunities to succeed and keep letting them try again if they fail. For example, a math teacher may allow a student to retake two test throughout a semester, but if the student proves that they are trying in the class then the teacher may allow them to retake a few more tests. Also, schoolwork is not tedious or lengthy,
High school, the best times of our lives. But in every situation others don’t experience it as the time of their lives. In specific, the so called, “Loser, Nerds, Outcasts." Sometimes the perception that most high school movies convey for this certain group are the reality. In this article "High school confidential: Notes on teen movies" by David Denby, He describes the functions of an everyday American high school. David Denby uses very effective language and rhetoric to provide the minds of the opposing side. A sample of the rhetoric skills he uses is stereotypes, ethos, and pathos.
In ‘Abolish high school’ by Rebecca solnit, she writes “High school is often considered a definitive American experience, in two senses: an experience that nearly everyone shares, and one that can define who you are, for better or worse, for the rest of your life.” which means high school isn’t wonderful for many people, it has a lot of challenges for teens and some of them may be ‘kill’ by pressure, it would effect your rest of life. The high school is not a wonderful place for everyone. People should skip it and escaped it don’t be suffered by it. However i disagree with her, because i believe high school is a wonderful and kindly for everyone. It is a place for teen to meeting friends and a place to learning. I believe the environments would definitive teens who they are. For example, the parents is most important for kid, they would shape everyone’s identity, make you more stronger to face challenge. For example, in my childhood, when i was lived with my parents, i was
High School is a time when many teenagers get into trouble and have many conflicts and struggles. Without all of the struggles, high school is supposed to be four terrific years. There are many struggles for teens like peer pressure, managing your time, fitting in, and many more. Most high schoolers will get pressured by their peers at some point and can cause some serious problems. About fifty-five percent of students play a high school sport on top of having a job, keeping your grades up, and just overall having fun, which can be very hard to do. During High school, students are going to want to not be themselves and want to fit in without being judged by their peers. High school should be a time for you to have some great years in your
Movies that are supposed to replicate the lives of the average teen try, but do not succeed. Producers and writers of movies set in a high school are not looking to make a documentary of the life of a teenager; they are working toward a dramatic and comedic version of a teenage life.
If you were to ask everyone how high school was for them, everyone would have a different answer, but people in the same cliques would have similar answers because sadly high school is classified into popularity. Starting off at the bottom and working your way up is a difficult and confusing journey, but after high school is finished you are on your own and the real world
High school High school is a very crucial part of everybody’s life filled with many learning moments and also times that most would like to never redo. This being said we all go through this time and we can all relate to the stereotypes that come along with high school. Some were on the top and others were on the bottom, but everyone had their specific place.
Although there are some aspects of truth in the way movies portray high school, movies tend to stretch the truth and exaggerate situations for the sake of entertainment.
My high school experience was overall a mixture of being scared and growing to become who I am today. When I was in my first years of high school, it was just high school nothing more. I had seen teachers as teachers and friends as friends. I just
As a kid, I grew up with movies like High School Musical, which clearly showed the divide between the popular kids, the jocks, and the theatre kids. As we grew up we watched Mean Girls, and The Clique. The social hierarchy of high school became very real. We watched shows like Hannah Montana and Zoey 101, we saw all types of different schools and all different cliques.
A true high school has no happy ending. There is no “happily ever after”, there is no good kid who stays out of trouble and ends up becoming the most popular kid in school. There is no ugly kid who ends up dating the most popular girl in school. All of that is a fantasy thought up to keep middle schoolers from being scared of growing up. Because no matter where you live, highschool is a dark place.
At first glance high school seems to be a fun and relaxed time. A time that you get to hang out with friends and participate in extracurricular activities. Some of your most treasured memories will be made in high school. However, high school is a cruel and unforgiving place. In high school individuals get judged by their appearance, the way they act, and who they hang out with.
High School Musical, Mean Girls, and Hairspray; any of those ring a bell? They're all classic high school movies that our generation has grown to love. Although each of these movies present the obvious cliques of the populars, jocks, and nerds, is it really all that similar to today's society? I had the chance to interview a few students here at SouthEast Tech about the stereotypes of high school and defining what is true and what is just a movie myth. When asking freshman, Anthony Gomez about something he's seen on the silver screen that he can compare to what he’s seen on campus is the sight of the crowded hallways. “It's all pretty similar”, Anthony stated “The hallways are usually crowded with people and it's hard to navigate sometimes.”
The high school experience is something that will forever dominate the psyche of most American adults. It was an unforgettable time of fun, rebel-rousing, summer loves and parties. It was a time of warm summer days at the pool and chilly autumn nights, watching the football team and wondering were the party was going to be that night. School dances and hotel parties. Seems like all I can remember are the good times. High School is a very emotional time for many teens and everything matters. The insidious problems that I had to face are but a smudge on my memory, things like too much homework, zits, mean people, gossip, and algebra. The social atmosphere that permeated every aspect of high school could
Now high school can be a big pain in the butt, but in reality, what would you be doing at home if you weren't in school? Probably just sitting down and eating. High school is a big responsibility and a big change. Teacher's don't mean to scare you by giving you a ton of homework they're just getting you ready for the rest of your life because that is their job. You do get a lot of freedom, stress really kicks in and the people in the hallway can get on your nerves, but in the end High School is a great
