Moving to America is the most significant event in my life. It was like I have to start my life from beginning. New people, new culture, new school, and everything that surrounds me was new and different from the one I have been used to. From day one I was a confident girl, who can outcome any situation. But still I was little scared about how to fit in in American culture and how to express who I am. Even though the main reason why we moved to US was not education, but my main focus was on study.
My high school experience was overall a mixture of being scared and growing to become who I am today. When I was in my first years of high school, it was just high school nothing more. I had seen teachers as teachers and friends as friends. I just
Growing up from a Caribbean background, moving to America and getting a better life has always been a strong influence for me, it has taught me that there are a lot of opportunities here, in America, that I should appreciate and that I should try and tackle headfirst. From seeing my parents stress the importance of knowledge and education, to seeing some of my family members waste their time and not become anything of their selves, I have a special look at both sides of how coming to America, the land of opportunity, can make or break you. This influences me to strive and take any opportunity that can help me become a more knowledgeable and woke individual and use it to my advantage.
Immigrating to America, no matter where you are coming from, has its fair share of trials and tribulations. Immigrants have to go through weeks of traveling to finally get to America and then completely rebuild their lives in this new country. While most immigrants went through similar experiences when migrating to America, , such as, traveling by sea, fighting illness, and enduring medical checkups upon arrival in Ellis Island, their ultimate reasons for leaving their home country varied, by economics, politics, or warfare.
Proceeding to a different country is in, step forward to your life, but it can also be different from your original habits. If I were to travel to a different country, I would move to England for its good community. In that location would be trials for me to overcome my different habitats. Becoming a citizen will be a struggle to adjust to but it's not impossible to surmount.
I always grew up wondering, I don’t want life to change! I always thought that life was a perfectly planned event. I wake up, do this, go there, and eat that. But little did I know that my life would have a new, and very big change. Wonderfully big. I was only at the tender age of nine when my parents bought me the horrible news, or so I thought at the time. But life changed. Wonderfully. I remember the exact words.
My parents were born in Hong Kong. They had to dropped out of high school because they knew they could not afford higher education. There was no opportunities for them to have a comfortable life so they decided to move to the United States for their kids to have the opportunity they never could. I have helped around their full sized restaurant, which is ran by just my parents, but they were only able to save enough for my first year of college. I was lucky enough that my parents moved here because I owe them everything. I absolutely love Iowa State and I am proud to be the first generation to have this amazing opportunity for a higher education. My parents are starting to experience health issues that causes them to be dismissed from working
Moving to a new country and start a new life is hard. Before I came to United State, I lived in Thailand Refugee Camp, which is called Mae Suri. I had lived there for about 9 years and then my parents decided to come to United State for a better life and the opportunity for us. Not only education better for us to get but live in refugee is really hard. We couldn't go outside the camp and we don’t have a job in camp. So much stress and depressed. Life in refugee is hard, but at least we know the language, but coming to a new country and start everything again is extremely hard and you can’t even speak the Language.
When people ask what America means to someone, they usually say freedom, but are we really as free as we would like to believe? We have freedom of speech in America, but we easily attack those who speak of things we do not agree with. Unlike other countries, we can express ourselves by the way we dress, but we are judged by others by the way we look. We are all supposed to be treated equally whether you are man, woman, block, or white, but even now in 2017 women make less money, blacks are still targeted, and men are still perceived as leaders. People migrate to America because we are known as the land of opportunity, but the rich just seem to get richer and the working people seem to get empty handed. Is freedom really the first thing that
If I had to move out of the country I would bring many items with me. I would bring my cellphone, my laptop, clothes, a lot of pictures, makeup, shampoo, conditioner, and other personal hygiene products. I think pictures would be important to bring out of the country because you would wanna be reminded of your memories back in America. I would definitely bring my favorite blanket and pillow so I can always feel like I’m at home. I would bring my phone so I could always be in contact with my friends and family and so I could always entertain myself. I would make sure to bring the stuff in my hope chest. My hope chest has many items from my childhood such as old party decorations and toys. I’d love to bring my favorite movies because they remind me of home and who wouldn’t
There are an abundant amount of reasons people migrant to the United States, but one vital purpose Latinos take an enormous risk on crossing the border, is for the simple fact that they want to escape poverty. An explanation as to how a majority of the employees in warehouses are Latino Immigrants can be due to the neoclassical theory that encompass two levels, which are the macro theory as well as the micro theory. The macro theory level specifically explains that the wages in the United States are high, while the wages in Mexico are extensively low. Due to this wage gap, workers from Mexico move to the United States. Furthermore, in the micro theory level, immigrants make their decisions based on cost-benefit calculations. To be more specific, they outweigh the costs of
records. That money is hold off until the worker can prove the wages are theirs. This
I believe moving to United with my whole family and adjusting to the culture and language has been the distress in my life. My family moved to United States a year ago. At first I was really excited to move to United States. But when I arrived here with my family it was very hard. I never thought I would have to get mature really fast and think about the family’s future. The culture difference and the living style of United States and Nepal are completely different. In my country, children’s usually don’t work until the graduate and get a degree. We didn’t have to work and stayed at our parents house. But here I found out that children move from their parents house and live alone. While I was back in my country, I was just a high school kid who was about to complete his High School. Children didn’t have to get involve in big family decision and didn’t have to worry about the financial. Our jobs were just go to college get a degree and then get a job. But coming to United States have opened my eyes. My mom and dad don’t speak English
I did not grow up in a family where food was always ready on the table for me. After my family immigrated to the United States, harsh realities forced both of my parents to work long hours in order to provide for our family. Under such circumstance, I rarely had the company of my parents and was forced to take care not only for myself but also the rest of my family.
American, from the time of its discovery, has always been a place where those not excepted in Europe come to start fresh. It is because of this that I am not surprised to hear that many Jewish people came to the United States for the very same reason. I did find it intriguing though how come of the immigrates refused to change to the cultures here and started the tradition of Orthodox Jews. It is also amazing to see the widespread variation in the religion of Judaism. There are the super traditional views of Judaism, Orthodox Jews, who haven’t changed much over the years and also there is the modern Jews who change their religion with the culture of the time. Even in this groups there are variations of following. One group that even came up
Maybe my first and last name had revealed to everyone that I am not from America; I am from Saigon, Vietnam. About four years ago, my parents and I migrated to the United States. There are a couple of reasons why we decided to leave our mother country, but the main reason was because of the academic opportunities, such as honor classes and College Credit Plus classes, American offered to students. With these phenomenal chances, I can achieve my long life goal: become a knowledgeable doctor that could helps those in need of medical treatments. In order to become the knowledgeable I dreamed to become, besides the academics opportunities, I chose biochemistry and psychology along with the pre-medical program as my majors in college. Next to my
Why does the UAE rank the fifth-largest country to receive international newcomers in the world ? Refugees escape from war in their countries while others hope for a better life and look for a good career and some look for the best place to go and seek security, independence, benefits and satisfaction. These are what people look for and that's why people immigrate. The number of people immigrating to the UAE is rising throughout the years and the numbers will keep on increasing: Today UAE’s population reached to 9.346 million (**). Like any other country, having people immigrate to the UAE has a positive influence on the UAE’s economy, education and culture.
