I have shown that I am dedicated and have a passion for veterinary medicine by pursuing any opportunity I encounter to broaden my knowledge of the profession. I have come to appreciate the different possible career options that I could pursue as a veterinarian. Assisting with companion animal examinations and vaccines, preparing large and companion animals for surgery, and doing post-mortems on mink kits are all opportunities I have had over the past five years. Engaging in these experiences, I have learned the qualities required to become a successful veterinarian. There are many duties of being a veterinarian. Vets treat sick and injured animals. They also euthanize very old or sick animals. This way, animals can die in a relatively pain-free way. Preventive medical care is provied. They vaccinate and provide check-ups to make sure animals stay healthy. Vets give owners advice about animal care and breeding. Like doctors, vets may focus on a one area of medicine. Before becoming a veterinarian, a specific education is needed (“Veterinarian”).

What skills and knowledge have I developed that will increase my opportunity for positions of greater responsibilities in the veterinary profession? I understand the value of drug calculations being correct. In my job that can be hard task for non-human primates, as we go off past weights to calculate the drugs. This may be an overdose or under dose but I understand the effects the drugs, and am ready with more injectable anesthetics or reversals or life supporting equipment in case of emergencies (Tear & Busch, 2012).

A Bachelor's degree is recommended but is optional. The path towards a veterinarian starts with High School. Then, to a collage for a Bachelor's degree. Then, to a veterinarian school to get a doctor’s degree. It will take four years if you want the Bachelor's degree. Four more years for the Doctor’s. I am interested in becoming a veterinarian when I get older. I do have to know a lot of science to be a veterinarian. Science and math are the two main parts of being a veterinarian. The animal it’s self is science. Veterinarian has to know the structure and the bones of the animals. Recently I read the Velveteen Rabbit and I learned that love is joyful and painful at the same time. When the rabbit was in the agonizing yet delightful process of becoming real. I have a stuffed animal dog who is real to me like the Velveteen rabbit was to the boy. I adore him mostly because of his color, texture, and scent.

This encompassment allows them to connect with people and animals, making them not only a good doctor that people can connect with. There are couple of reasons that I may interested in the veterinary medical or veterinary technology professions. I want to help the patients that cannot tell you what is wrong with them. This means extra critical thinking, which is a reason why I am interested in the veterinary professions. Problem solving is another result that comes with a patient that cannot tell you what wrong with them. As the veterinary, they should to be able to eliminate what is not wrong with the patient and determine what is wrong by what the patient is doing and what the owner has told you. Critical thinking and problem solving are two major skills veterinaries need in this field and I am excellent as well as expanding on those skills. I obtain a desire to help
