Ever since I was eight years old I knew I wanted to help animals one day. I have a love for animals that is unbreakable. The day I decided I wanted to become a veterinarian was very tragic. Some neighborhood kids decided that they were going to try and make a baby bunny climb a tree, and they broke it’s leg in the process. I ran to the bunny’s rescue and carried it inside. I had no idea what I was doing, but what I did know was that I had to help the bunny right away. I then grabbed a pencil, some gauze and tape. UW applicants must complete at 90 quarter credits of coursework, at least 50 of them need to be in Chemistry, Physics, and Biological Sciences. The courses I will be taking are Biology/Cell Biology, Genetics, Animal Anatomy, Physiology, Advanced Physiology, Organic Chemistry and many more. University of Washington’s yearly in-state tuition is $11,578 USD. Before I become a veterinarian I will take a “Veterinarian’s Oath” which is where I promise to to use my powers only for good and not evil (“UniversityofWashington”). In the end all the hard work, schooling, and money I put in will all be worth it because I will finally be a veterinarian.
Job Skills, Talents and Experience
As a veterinarian there are many skills that are needed. Veterinary medicine is so much more complex than just medicine, one must develop many different types of skills. Before becoming a veterinarian one must learn good interpersonal skills, customer service skills, active listening skills, time management skills, quick decision making skills, compassion skills, etc. Most importantly a veterinarian has to have a passion for animals. A veterinarian must connect with both animal and owner.
I am perfect for this occupation because I already have great customer service skills, interpersonal skills, and a huge passion for animals. Having good interpersonal skills is important because I will be connecting with the animals owners and explaining what types of treatments their animals will need
