What makes a great president? Being the President of the United States is one of the most difficult positions to be in. And throughout history there has been presidents who faced crisis and made society a better place, and then there were some who did not live up to their greatest opportunities. Gerald R. Ford was the 38th President of the United States of America and was considered below average in all aspects of his presidency including relations with foreign affairs, the economy and social/political cases in our country. In fact, according to scores based on Fields of History, Law and Politics, he was ranked as below average. This proves that he was not worthy compared to the levels of presidents before his time.

The president exerts every type of leadership imaginable. The presidency, which was created with a great amount of power for our use needs to be in the right hands. The president can only lead us in the direction that we are acclimated to travel. He can’t order congress to disobey their duties, he can’t lead our civil servants to be fraudulent, and lastly, he cannot lead our people and public into something they are unprepared

We have had many presidents in our country’s history. The presidents themselves don’t last forever, but their impacts, legacies and memories do.They contributed to generations and future generations. But nobody is perfect and you can’t please everyone so of course in the eyes of some people there were presidents they believed to be better than others. Not everyone’s favorites will be the same. I myself believe that George Washington, Lyndon B Johnson, and Abraham Lincoln were some of the best presidents, but however with all good sides there are bad sides like presidency's I believed that the worst presidents were people like William Henry Harrison, John F. Kennedy, and John Tyler. However like I said before, everyone will have different rankings of the president's let's see if you agree and here are my reasonings.

There is the possible risk of a president becoming a dictator. A president may start abusing their role, and try to remain president for longer, gaining an overpowering amount of control. This is a large problem, for if a president becomes a dictator, he or she would take over and control the whole country. This terminates all democracies set into place and takes away the freedom promised in the First and Fifteenth Amendment. This mistake has already been made before, with Vladimir Putin, the current president of Russia. In Russia, a law was placed that there was no term limit, however, you could not remain in the offices for over two terms consecutively (Wikipedia, 2018). Vladimir Putin managed to gain enough power to claim four terms consecutively. That is two terms over the limit! He has gradually become more and more overpowering, becoming more and more of a dictator rather than a president. We can all agree that we do not want this happening to the U.S. We want to keep this beautiful country a free democracy. We can prevent this conundrum by addressing it in two ways: reducing the role of the president and enforcing stricter rules. We could try making the president not such a large role. For example, Canada’s prime minister has a smaller role than the U.S. president, so we could try making the president’s role more like a prime minister’s. This will not give them as much

Because of their positions in the government and their resulting influential abilities, presidents are either praised for advancing the nation, criticized for not doing anything to help the country, or even making the country’s situation worse. Their success as president is dependent on the success of the country. People don’t take into consideration the attempts presidents make, but only those things that help or hurt the country. This leaves room for there to be a good president who may not accomplish much and a bad president who may accomplish a lot.
