Barack Obama
"When I take an unemployment rate of 10 percent down to 5.5 percent, when I drive the uninsured rate to the lowest it's ever been, when I restore people's 401(k)s, when I make sure that we're doubling clean energy, and we are reducing our carbon footprint, and high school graduations are the highest they've ever been, and college attendance is the highest it's ever been, and LGBT rights have been recognized and solidified in ways that we couldn't even imagine ten years ago – when I look at those things, I can say that in terms of not just managing the government, but moving the country forward, we've had a lot more hits than misses. We've made a difference in people's lives. And that is ultimately what you're looking for."- Barack Obama

It's about Change" "Stand for Change” are some of the sayings he had throughout his terms. During his campaign there was still horrible conditions in the economy, and issues with Iraq. During his time in office, Obama signed the Affordable Care Act on March 23, 2010, with help from a Congress that was mostly democrats it passed. No votes came from the Republican side. Polls showed people against the health care plan, which changed the medical insurance worldwide. However there were some down sides some people who were unable to afford health insurance were grateful at first, but some people found large increases in costs, as well as not having their, choice on what doctors or hospitals they could go to. Some were without a health insurance plan after Obama promised they would not lose their doctor or their health care plan. Some other accomplishments: he ended the 2008 recession, and he passed the International Climate Change
Obama is the best president we have ever had because he changed and created many things that we needed in today's society. He created Obama Care, and this has many benefits that many people don't know about. People has outnumbered the negative side with the positive side. This led to Donald Trump's repeal of obama care. Obama care slows the rate of rising health care cost. It does this by providing health care insurance for millions and preventive care free. Preventive care is any medical service that defends against health emergencies. The purpose of this is to help people stay healthy. Obama care also gives kids benefits they can stay on their parents insurance up until their 26. This increased profit for insurance companies.People always want to say obama care isn't even that good, but if they really looked into the facts
The 2016 Presidential Campaign candidate, Bernie Sanders, believes in creating a better America. In proving to the American people, rich and poor, how great the country can be if all people vote for who is trusted best as future President of the United States. The political figures in government care about money and wealth, not the people. Bernard Sanders would be the best choice for President for the main reason that he is concerned about the issues in America that create inequality for the people. The issues addressed by this candidate will create social and economic equality.
Here i am going to list every Thought that went through my mind while watching this Biased Video
Obama’s overarching campaign theme was the need for change. His theme of change had two facets. First, it meant a change in the White House, replacing the failed Bush presidency with a Democratic presidency. Second, it meant a change in the way that Washington worked. Divisive partisanship should be replaced by a more cooperative post-partisanship approach. The excessive influence of lobbyists in the legislative process should be replaced by a greater concern with the public good. Obama believed that voters were not only unhappy with the Bush administration, but that they were also unhappy with the nature
One thing Barack Obama did was reform health care. Barack Obama proposed and signed the Affordable Care Act, covering 32 million uninsured americans beginning in 2014 (Star Tribune). Health care is now mandatory for all citizens. With 20 more million americans insured the uninsured rate has dropped from 20 percent to 12 percent (America Magazine). Provisions of the law make care accessible to those who had previously been left out. Obamacare requires that mental health be covered as comprehensively as a physical condition. No one can be denied insurance for a pre-existing medical issue. Companies can no longer charge women more than men for insurance (bbc.com). It’s estimated that 22 million people would lose medical insurance if Obamacare was repealed (bbc.com). By passing the Affordable Care Act, Barack Obama has accomplished what numerous Presidents for over a
“‘I can’t abandon the American people now when they need me more than ever,” Obama told reporters at a press conference. “We’ve come this far as a nation, now is not the time to do something different. This is the change you wanted and this is the change you’re getting.’”
Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders is a man who is ready to take on the hard issues of this world. He will not sit back and allow large businesses to pay their way into office. He will not rest while the people of the United States suffer, instead he will rise to the occasion and change America for the betterment of the people, not his pocket book. Candidate Sanders is a man of principle and moral. He fights to change the evils in this world and to create a better tomorrow for you ,your children and, your grandchildren. He will not be bullied or persuaded to change his beliefs by large corporation. He will not lie and manipulate the American population. He will not take away the civil rights of the people. He will not allow racism to cloud
On November 4, 2008, Barack Obama won the presidential election; Obama was sworn in as the 44th president of the United States on January 20, 2009. Originally, Obama 's health care plan did not include a mandate and was criticized. In the Jan. 2008 presidential primary debate, his response to the criticism was, "A mandate means that in some fashion, everybody will be forced to buy health insurance. Instead of going that route, his plan, he said, "emphasizes lowering costs." … the government will compel you to buy health insurance. Elect me and I 'll give you lower costs and let you keep your freedom … what 's she not telling you about her health care plan? It forces everyone to buy insurance, even if you can 't afford it, and you pay a penalty if you don 't." (Cline). At the time of his election, voters were under the impression that Obama was against the idea of an individual health insurance mandate. In an interview with Ellen DeGeneres in February of 2008, speaking of his opponent at the time, Hillary Clinton, Obama states: “she mandates that everybody buy health care. She’d have the government force every individual to buy insurance and I don’t have such a mandate because I don’t think the problem is that people don’t want health insurance, it’s that they can’t afford it…I focus more on lowering costs…I could mandate everybody to buy a house, and that would solve the problem of homelessness. It doesn’t” (Ballasy). Six months after Obama took office, he changed his mind
This is a major milestone in Obama’s presidency. Five of his predecessors had totally failed in creating universal health insurance. Obama was able to sign into law the Affordable Care Act (2010) early in his first term (Glastris, Cooper and Hu). This is set to benefit 32 million uninsured Americans. In addition, the initiative is mandated to carry out experimental measures geared towards cutting the growth of health care cost which is believed to be the leading cause of long-term fiscal challenges in the US.
Seven years and two-hundred-thirty-four days into Barack Obama’s Presidency, his Presidential veto power has, for the first time, been threatened by an override. After unanimously passing the Senate back in May, the House has passed the “Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act,” a bill that will allow victims of the 2001 9/11 attacks to sue Saudi Arabia, which is believed to be a major benefactor of the terrorist act. The bill passed the lower chamber of Congress by unanimous consent in a voice vote, but despite extreme bi-partisan support, President Obama is expected to veto the bill. The Obama Administration has vocally renounced the bill, as they believe it will open the door to legal retaliation against the United States. If the President
Thesis: Obamacare is quiet beneficial for all Americans citizens. Despite the potential downfalls, being that it provides access to healthcare, promotes health and drives an increase in overall cost.
@Bold [above] I agree with your comment, but. I feel you left some facts out.
Throughout the history of the United States, we have had presidents from all walks of life. Some good, some not. All have left behind a legacy. Some were more memorable then others, and some just down right horrendous. Barack Obama has been the United States President for the last seven years. He has spent almost 2 terms in office passing bills, creating new policies, and bettering the lives of Americans. While not everybody loves him, it would be a hard to argue that he hasn't gotten a lot done while he's been in office. For example, he has started the process of creating affordable health care that is accessibly available to all Americans. He has helped restore the economy after one of the biggest recessions the U.S. Has ever seen. He has
President Obama talked about several things that he already had accomplished while he was in office. One that stood out to me was he reformed health care. I have mixed feelings about this. In some ways, I think it was good because when you take your children to the doctor for a physical or shots you do not have to pay your co-pay. Also when a woman goes in for her well woman exam she does not have to pay a co-pay either. I think this has helped a lot of families since this was changed. The thing I don’t like about the reformed health care is that now the cost of insurance has increased, and it is now required that all Americans have healthcare or you have to pay a penalty. Another item he stated that he accomplished was making our economy stronger.
left it out of his speech. All in all, however, Obama’s performance and delivery were mostly considered as great and nearly immaculate.
