BATH (WENY) - As a way to honor those who were either missing or held captive while fighting oversees, the Bath VA held a special ceremony for National POW/MIA Recognition Day. Every year, on the third Friday of September the United States recognizes those who were prisoners of war and those who are missing in action, as well as their families. "Often we forget about the sacrifices after the wars have past and years go by. We're fortunate we still have World War II vets, Korean vets and Vietnam vets that are here today who were former POW's, says the Bath VA Medical Center Director. Michael Swartz. One of those former prisoners of war being World War II veteran, Bob Nobels. "See we were good for three days, we had ammunition, food everything
Honoring those that have served our country has been a long-standing tradition in one of the countries with the best militaries in the world. We even have an annual holiday celebrating those who have served where an entire day is dedicated to veterans in our country. But the question is often asked as to why we honor these veterans with their own day, and why they are treated with the utmost respect year round. I believe the answer varies from person to person, but the answer is clear to me.
were taken as hostages and became missing during the war. These Prisoners of War and Missing in
Honoring our Veterans is so important. They fought for us and some died fighting for peace. Veterans Day is also known as Remembrance Day, a day to remember those who died, but also celebrate those who fought on and lived through the battles. We should keep honoring our Veterans because war is not over. We still have people fighting for us right now. Veterans has been celebrated for so many years and in 1938, the day had so many ceremonies and parades that Congress marked it an official holiday.
Not many people would withstand having to go off to war knowing their life was on the line. There is much respect and gratitude inclined towards those who did and sacrificed everything they had. Our cordially veterans - the ones who fought and endured the bestial wars, the ones who knew they could fall at any moment, the ones who, despite the horror and fear
It is important to remember how much of daily life is affected by the work of veterans. Walking on streets, going to school, eating at restaurants, and hanging out with friends all depend on the service of veterans. They may not receive the proper amount of recognition from the younger generations, but their work is appreciated. In actuality, they gained vital information that can be shared with the future generations. They have gained respect and honor for their duty for our
People often say that freedom is not free and that price has been paid by countless brave individuals. These brave individuals are known as veterans. Veterans should be remembered, respected and honored because of their sacrifices, courage, and patriotism.
When I was asked what Veterans Day meant to me I didn’t have a specific answer. I could give the cookie cutter answer of to honor the men and women who fought for this country’s freedoms, but I wanted to go deeper. What makes these specific people so special and worth honoring? The reason may be because of the sacrifices they made or the bravery they showed; or it be for the tough times they have gone through and still have to go through. Maybe we owe them for not being just our moms, dads, aunts, uncles, grandmas, and grandpas; but for going above and beyond what anyone could ever ask of them.
Veterans day is always 11/11. A veteran will risk their lives to save other people. Veterans can get a mental illness from war because of the violence. Just because they have gotten PTSD does not mean they will be violent. About 77% of veterans from post-9/11 have had problems getting a job. But there is hope for more of them to get a job
Veterans Day mean a lot to me because if it wasn’t for those who fought for us, then we wouldn’t have our freedom. I honor the brave soldiers who fought for our rights, and those
vetrans day is about commemorating vetrans. when our school district holds an assembly in their honor, it lets them know that they are remebered and still thanked for their services. having all these students come together shows they are respected. when we listen to them speak we validate their experiences in war, and how they gave time of their lives.
Any man or woman who goes to war to serve for our country should always remain recognized for their sacrificial decisions to protect all the people of the United States. That is why Veteran’s Day is so important to the not only the troops’ family, but to everyone. Individually we recognize the hard work that they do, the daily sacrifices they make, and putting their life on the line for our freedom and justice. Veteran’s day is for current troops who are serving and for former troops as a consequence to renounce their great doings. All veterans should always continue to obtain recognition for when they served no matter when or where it was. If it weren’t for our
“Hello mother, father, this is your Louie talking. This will be the first time in two years that you’ve heard my voice. I am now interned at a Tokyo prisoner of war camp and I’m being treated as well as can be expected under wartime conditions.” As a viewer we can see the look of pure disgust and longing upon Louie’s face. It was evident that he wasn’t eager to read what was prepared for him as it depicted a false perception of what his wartime conditions were truly like. The fact that he had to make it seem like he was well when in fact he was anything but. I am now able to understand that what those in society often herd about their captured soldiers was quite often incorrect. The enemy wanted to portray an image that hid the true conditions and circumstances the American soldiers were subject to. I not only found this film inspiring as it showed the resilience American soldiers had whilst confined in the prisoner of war camps but also found it interesting as it showed the truths of war so vividly in way that could never be achieved through the use of written words. As a result of this film I am able to see how much we owe these men for our freedom, we were never truly able to appreciate the sacrifice made by those men and women until viewing this incredible film. They went through so much to ensure the freedom of many generations to come and if it wasn’t for these men who knows what our lives would be like today.

The Maasai are a pastoralist tribe living in Kenya and Northern Tanzania. Much of their land falls within the Great Rift Valley. The main source of their livelihood remains livestock, consisting of cattle, sheep, and goats. Traditionally, Maasai do not feed on game meat as this is associated with the hunters-gathers (Dorobo people). They have relied on their livestock, mainly cows, for most of their nutritional needs. Milk, meat, and blood constitute the basic components of the Maasai diet.
In The Canterbury Tales, the Wife of Bath gives an in-depth look on her life and understanding on the world as she perceives it. During her Prologue, we learn that what she calls experience stems from her first three marriages, but during her last two there is a shift in power. The Wife of Bath demonstrates her understanding and power throughout her first three marriages both physically and emotionally and the contrast of her lack of control in her last two, thus revealing the true meaning behind what she believes is experience during these marriages. The Wife of Bath’s authority can be viewed as realist when paralleled to the chain of being because of the emotional control she has over her previous husbands and the simple fact that she
