Beauty does not define a person. Beauty is a combination of qualities, such as shape, color, or form, which pressures the aesthetic senses, especially the sight. Being able to define who someone really is, does come from those qualities. Someone’s personality comes from inside of someone. The outside only shows part of us but not who someone really is. Beauty does say or show the real qualities of who someone truly is.

“Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it” (Marilyn Monroe). There are many different ways that beauty can be explained. Beauty is not always what people think it may be especially when it has many different meanings. Beauty can be a person place or thing. What people considers beautiful may not be beautiful to another. Beauty is not only something that pleases the eyes, but also pleases the other senses and the mind. True beauty makes you see beyond the pretty sights. It will give you insight or understanding of something amazing beyond just the outer appearance. Beauty is confidence and having a beautiful personality.

What is beautiful can vary greatly from person to person. Many people disagree on what beauty truly is because it is so subjective. “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder” is an incredibly common phrase in our language, and it is quite truthful. A lot of young people in newer generations have a similar concept of what beauty is, but that was not always the case. Long ago, Native Americans were inspired by absolutely everything in nature. Every leaf, textile, and element was precious to them and beauty was not hard to come across in the untouched environment they resided in. They did not have to point something out and describe only that as beautiful, because nothing around them was ugly. Now, in the 21st century, beauty is much more than nature.

Beauty is defined as a quality that pleases or delights the senses or mind. So many people today are programmed to think that beauty lies in a person’s physical appearance. I think that beauty is in what a person sees in another person. What might make one person pretty, makes another one hard to look at.

One’s personal definition of beauty, and how to attain that beauty can drastically differ from the next. As far back as the ancient Egyptians, woman and men have been using cosmetics to enhance their beauty. Throughout history trends and beliefs about beauty and the use of cosmetics have changed consistently, and our ideas and conceptions about beauty still fluctuate from year to year, season to season. One thing that hasn’t changed over time, the concept of adding color to lips, eyes, and nails in the hopes of feeling beautiful, and the advertisement cited here shows how little that has changed.

Many people believe that beauty is just on the outside while everything is on the inside. Not many people think that they are beautiful because of society today. While everyone is criticizing certain things that people do, they could be destroyed inside, yet still be happy around the ones they care about, to not hurt them or to not put a burden on them. Yet when somebody finally does what society asks it’s still criticized by many. All they think is that there’s a certain body image that humans have to maintain to.

There are many definitions of the term beauty, but in a constantly changing world it is impossible to find the correct definition. One of the most famous quotes says: that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Therefore, the beholder can set the focus on inner or outer beauty. While defining beauty, three aspects are important for me; well-groomed appearance, intelligence, and humor. Many people claim that the appearance does not matter, but in fact everybody knows that it is a lie. The view of beauty is not universal. Everybody, male or female, is free to make up their own definition of beauty.

Imagine you are at home, watching tv. Flipping through the channels, you see a preview for next week’s episode of Toddlers & Tiara’s. They show the girls dressed in frilly, sparkly attire, fake teeth, fake hair, fake tans, and makeup that could transform their faces into someone in their 20’s. These children are usually misbehaving, disobedient, overdramatic and they are between the ages of four and six. Any person could see that this lifestyle is incredibly harmful to these children not just because of what it does to their appearance, but what happens when these little girls’ minds become tainted with the thoughts of needing to be beautiful and talented in order for people to like them.
