My desire to pursue the field of nursing stems from my fascination on giving support to those in need. Working in the customer service industry has helped me develop essential skills needed as a nurse. Such as, giving good customer service, having patience with an upset customer, and having the ability to solve an issue accordingly. Some of the qualities that I admire in nurses are empathy and quick thinking while being under tremendous pressure. The desire to become a nurse was not influenced by my teachers or my family, but from an interest in the medical field. I also enjoy rigorous and fast paced work, while at the same time using critical thinking skills.
After earning my BSN in nursing, I am planning on becoming a mentor for future nurses.
I cannot attribute my desire of becoming a nurse to following the footsteps of a family member, nor caring for a sick family member as I was growing up. I am a first generation high school student, furthermore, a college graduate. I became a mother at the very young age of sixteen. Being so young and growing up without the care of my parents, it was always said I, too, would end up in a rough situation and not be able to care for my child being so young myself. I continued out my days and nights being a high school teen mom. I graduated from high school in three years by attending night school while I was pregnant; allowing me to finish school sooner and obtain a better job that would allow me to take care of my son.
Nursing has always been a natural choice for me. From the time I was a little girl I received satisfaction and enjoyment from providing care for my great-grandmother, ensuring my elderly neighbor wasn’t lonely, various forms of problem solving and all things science related. Compassion, care and critical thinking are merely
All my life I have wanted to make a difference in the world, to make my mark. I may not be able to do this on a worldly scale, but I can start by helping one person at a time. My plan for the future is not an easy one, but it is worth it. I intend on becoming a Registered Nurse to begin, then later going further and becoming a Practitioner Nurse. Hopefully with my plans, I can get there fairly quickly. I will be attending Western Oklahoma State College, starting off with my basics, which usually take about two years. Then go into the Nursing program that Western proffers, putting my Associates degree under my belt. I would like to start working as fast as I can in order to get all the debt I will have paid off so I can attend a Southwestern
The nursing field gives a person the opportunity to work with and care for elderly, sick, and injured patients. I want to join the registered nurse team because they take on multiple medical settings. Registered nurses are known as RNs. They are responsible for multiple things. Being a RN has a lot of responsibility. The topics I will be covering are: job description, specialties, trends, salary, benefits, and required trainings. These are essential things that a person needs to know before going into nursing school.
Your choices will affect you throughout your life, whether it is a big or small decision. For example, it could be something simple like eating fast food for the third time this week or it could be important like going to an interview for a new job position. When you are young, you change your mind every chance you get. This might be why deciding what job you want for the rest of your life is difficult. Currently, 1. I want to be a RN, which is a registered nurse. Registered nurses do a lot to help their community and the people in it. With this job, I would be able to give back to the community by helping people. This makes me feel like I would be a better person.
My lifetime goal is to become a Registered Nurse since I was 18 years old, but, unfortunately I did not have the opportunity to go college, but to go to a technical school and get a medical assistant degree. Since then, I worked in many different doctors’ office in Florida as a Medical Assistant until 2 years ago when I met my husband and moved to Maryland. Luckily, with my husband's support, I have been having the opportunity to go back to school and continue my education.
Since my work experience in an educational environment I have developed a passion for working with children. From working as a teaching assistant in an additional needs school I have been able to work closely with various students, some of which having profound and multiple learning difficulties, I have been fortunate enough to see the work of nurses and medical professionals who care for these children. This has inspired me to pursue a future in the nursing sector. Thanks to my work I have been able to see the small and big developments that each child is able to make.
As a result of my past, growing up in a single parent household and raising my own children in a single parent household, I am able to manage stress in a healthy way, patience, and empathy. I believe the rigorous and intense demands of nursing match my capabilities. I feel like I was person is born with the characteristics of becoming a great nurse. As a nurse, I would like to be a caring leader in healthcare, a team player, and most importantly, a role model to my three children. As a nurse you really are putting someone else before yourself and that person you are helping becomes so appreciative of you for doing that.
From that moment, I knew I wanted to share my passion for caring towards other people. I decided to pursue Nursing due to my past experiences that helped me develop fundamental qualities that defines a successful nurse. With that being said, I established a set of goals to remain on this path for success.
Several themes have emerged throughout my life, which I believe make nursing the only career choice for me. This include development of a love for science, passion for helping others reach their full potential, love for caring for people when they are in need, and passion for working in the most diverse of fields. Even at a young age I was drawn to nursing, due to the science of it. I recall working in a laboratory class where the instructor asked us to come up with our own laboratory. I struggled to find the exact right answer to ensure that my work was perfect.
Graduating this year from high school is going to be a major turning point in my life where important decisions will be made. Even if I am ready or not decisions will be made and new obstacles will come my way especially when it comes to college. My choice of attending college stems from me wanting to earn a good education and successful job. I plan on furthering my education in nursing. My goal is to learn more about nursing and the medical field that way I can become a Registered Nurse and eventually work with moms’ and babies in labor and delivery.
Choosing a career can be difficult, but it take time to make the right choice. I have made the decision to become a registered nurse. On this journey I know it’s going take commitment, hard work, and maybe some tears. When I tell people what I’m going to school for that ask me “ Is that really what u want to do”, my answer “Yes”. Every since I was in high school I have dreamt of becoming a nurse. I have conducted an interview with Kim McPherson (RN) to get a better understanding what a nursing career has in stored for me. Mrs. Kim McPherson is an full time instructor for nurse adie at Southeastern Community College. Before doing this interview, I always thought having a nursing job would be easy because nurses really don’t interact with the patients only when it time to give them their medicine. Once I became a certified nursing assistant, I was completely wrong. Nurses has some responsibilities such as making the right judgment calls, giving medicine on time, safe environment. I asked Mrs. McPherson a question about having a nursing career.
Always having an interest in healthcare, I desired a career that would allow me to directly interact with patients and enhance their quality of life; nursing was a field that would allow me to achieve that. During
For as long as I can remember, the career I have wanted to be is a nurse. I want to be a nurse because I enjoy being around people in their times of need. I believe that the cure for many of the people's illnesses is not just by the medicines they take; it is the care they receive as patients in hospitals and also in their homes. I find that I enjoy the aspect of helping others very much. Unfortunately, my family cannot afford to pay for my entire education therefore; I hope to use my skills and love of helping others to help me pay for college.
When I was younger, I wanted to become a doctor or a nurse. I used to play with my mother’s stethoscope countless times because I thought I was a professional. I thought I knew what it took to become a doctor because I knew how to listen to a family member’s heartbeat. I just automatically knew I wanted to become a doctor. I don’t know if it was because I knew my mother had breast cancer. I don’t know if it was because I struggled with battling sickle cell. I wanted to help people like how doctors and nurses helped take care of my mother and myself. All I wanted to do was to help patients like myself.
