I've always wanted to work in the nursing field since I was just a little girl. I grew up around nurses, EMT’s, and Pharmacy Technicians. It finally occurred to me that I wanted to be an Registered Nurse when I sat and watched my great grandma pass away. She was on bed rest and a bunch of nurses, and hospice came every day to help her. I watched and observed them, and imagined myself as a registered nurse.

When I was 13 years old, my sister almost died. She was very ill with mononucleosis. Coupled with that, she had two severe concussions in a four-month time period. Both the mono, and the concussions caused her to have frequent seizures. The road to recovery was very difficult not only for my sister, but also for my family.

In the day of the life of a Registered Nurse, they can perform many different duties depending on what population they work with. It can conclude performing physical exams and health histories. Provide health promotion, counseling and education. This can make a difference by helping the patients or the public learn about various health topics such as warning signs and symptoms of disease or managing health conditions. The career I am pursuing is nursing. One main reason I am pursuing this career is because I want to take care of people and to save lives. Saving lives and taking care of people is my passion in life. The elderly and the sick need more attention and help, and I want to be the one to take care of them and make them feel better. I want them to get up and move around and just be happy on the inside and out. I also have the main qualities to become a nurse or even a doctor. I have the skills needed such as communication, problem solving, critical thinking, emotional stability, and organizational skills to get the job done.

Registered Nursed Working with people has always been something that I have plan to continue to work through in college. I see registered nurses frequently when I go to the doctor at any hospital. Students who want to become a Registered Nurse after high school should either go into a Bachelor’s Degree program which is 4-5 years to complete or an Associate’s Degree program which is 2-3 years to complete. There exist a concept in which despite where a person came from, that person can aspire to be whatever he/she wanted, as long as hard work is completed. This concept, that anyone can grasp is known to be called the "American Dream". I would argue that this is one of the best parts about living in America, considering that I am first-generation Vietnamese-American, coming from Vietnamese parents who migrated to the United States. Living here has taught me that I have so much potential and opportunities, compared to the stories my mother use to share when she was in Vietnam. I may not have had the sunshine of beginnings due to the fact that I had a rough transition with adjusting to America, however, I have managed to be ranked top 10 in the entire senior class, which was achievable because I've put enough heart in to school.

Nurses help patients when the doctor is busy doing other things. A nurse helps in many other ways they check your blood, your heart race, pules and ears etcetera. They get you ready for when the doctor comes and checks u out to see what your concern is.
