In today’s fast paced world one may not realize the importance of their nurses when an appointment is made at a clinic, or visiting the hospital for a medical procedure. Registered Nurses, along with other medical staff, are responsible for keeping you healthy and alive in some circumstances. A Registered Nurse has a great deal of responsibilities but vary based on which career path chosen. Registered Nurses educate patients about their health condition and medications they need to take. Registered nurses consult doctors and other health care officials during their time on duty. These nurses operate and monitor health equipment, help perform diagnostic tests, and analyze the results. It is a Registered Nurses responsibility to start Intravenous lines, also known as IV’s, and to administer medication through these lines. Microsoft office programs continue to make charting, memos, and presentations easier to create. Microsoft PowerPoint is a program used to create presentations. While interviewing local nurses, it was determined that PowerPoint is often used to display certain policy changes, any information nurses need during their shift or any upcoming certifications. Mrs. Cassie Gaudet, RN, states, “Power Point is used for any presentations in my job.”
Another Microsoft Office program frequently used daily when being a Registered Nurse is Microsoft Office. Microsoft word is often the chosen program when you are just typing a note. Microsoft Word is a computer program that allows its user to type any document needed. Documents that can be types in this program would be letters, memos, resumes and any other typing documents needed. While interviewing Mrs. Cassie Gaudet, RN, she stated, “I use Microsoft Word for memos, and any type of letters that go out on my floor”
