Behavioral or Process Addictions & Addiction to Substances “…because people are slaves of whatever controls them.” 2 Peter 2:19 (Contemporary English Version Bible) It is interesting to note that throughout the ages, historical evidence has suggested that human beings have been interested, and remains interested in satisfying many needs be they physical or spiritual, and this has result that when these needs are met somehow many of them have fallen into the mistake of staying tied to those things of what they have liked, as these have produced in them some kind of pleasure in their lives. However, with respect to which many have been called “behavioral addictions” it has been a large controversy between those who believe that conditions such as food, shopping, sex, shopping etc. could be addictions, and those who believe that these are just another classification of conditions of human behavior. …show more content…

2) This statement leaves many questions answered in some way, especially when the biochemical process that occurs in the brain is observed and as the text states: “Addictive behaviors alter brain chemistry in much the same ways as psychoactive drugs do.” (Inaba, 2011, p. 330) However, when these situations are discussed from a theological point of view, undoubtedly will show that both of them, whether they are called substance addictions or behavioral addictions are nothing more and less that a type of bondage in those who suffer.
