Agency Change Each Monday, Bellevue/NYU’s Program for Survivors of Torture (the Program) holds a clinic to offer physician or psychiatric services to their clients. During this time, the Program also offers Art Therapy and Yoga Therapy for clients and their children. The clinic staff includes doctors, psychiatrist, and nurses who are moon-lighting for our program and are Bellevue employees and staff from the Program including doctors, psychiatrist and front desk staff. Over the last four months, there has been many instances during the Monday night clinic where the clinic staff was not preforming in a professional manner towards the clients. There have been many illustrations where simple tasks were not completed because it was an …show more content…
From there, the group would need to discuss budget concerns, space availability, specific reasons there is tension. During the meeting, the group can rate the different changes the agency agreed to implement by difficulty and importance. Each staff member from Bellevue and the Program will be able to provide their thoughts about issues within the clinic and ideas about how they feel it can be improved. As changes start to occur, the staff can be up-to-date on the process through team meetings, so every member is aware of the changes. It is expected the training for trauma informed care would be held at the highest importance. One approach is Trauma-Informed Primary Care, which can be done in a half-day training. It requires a genuine commitment and support from the clinic and institutional leaders (Machtinger, Cuca, Khanna, Dawson Rose, Kimberg, 2015). Either a trained psychologist or social worker will train the entire Monday night clinic staff during a mandatory meeting. This can allow a space for questions, comments and concerns from staff members. An expected concern would be how clients miss their appointments or come very late to the appointment. Clients are traveling from far away for these services, so they may expect to keep their appointment or get a new one without any repercussions. The group and create policies for future issues with

In a trauma informed agency, it’s important that all staff are frequently updated with the principles of trauma informed care (Trauma-Informed Care: A Sociocultural Perspective, 2014). Such principles would involve a collection of resources, evidence based research, academic findings, reports, and quality approaches used by collaborating agencies (Trauma-Informed Care: A Sociocultural Perspective, 2014). Resources are very valuable to staff when they are needing a new strategy, in the case of their clients not responding effectively to former methods (Trauma-Informed Care: A Sociocultural Perspective,
Services provided include Individual Counseling for all ages, Personal Growth Counseling, Family Counseling, Group Counseling and Psychological Aspects of Grief. Issues addressed in counseling may include mood disorders, anxiety disorders, emotional impairments, family dynamics, behavioral problems and anger management. I work from a trauma-informed lens and believe that counseling is more effective and measurable when goals are outlined and mutually agreed upon. The goals and techniques of therapy will be based on each client individually according to their needs.

This paper explores the scenario of a client and looks at the presenting problem from an ecological and strengths perspective. It will also explore advanced clinical skills, intervention strategies and ethical dilemmas encountered. Methods for evaluating progress will be discussed within the social context of the case. Termination and follow-up approaches, and any ethical dilemmas will be included. Any problems with oppressed populations will also be discussed. Finally, the limits of the chosen model and limits of the practitioner, evolution of client and practitioner identities, any ethical or social justice issues for the agency, and an evaluation of the practitioner’s effectiveness will conclude the paper.
The meeting is set up to go for two days and the agenda is set up to go through each person at a fast pace but allowing for a thorough discussion on each matter. I watched the meeting on Thursday September 17, 2015 from 12pm-4pm and was able to understand the importance of the actions as a nurse and
The term “Psychological trauma” refers to damage wrought from a traumatic event, which that damages one’s ability to cope with stressors. “Trauma” is commonly defined as an exposure to a situation in which a person is confronted with an event that involves actual or threatened death or serious injury, or a threat to self or others’ physical well-being (American Psychiatric Association, 2000). Specific types of client trauma frequently encountered by which therapists and other mental health workers frequently encounter in a clinical setting include sexual abuse, physical , or sexual assault, natural disasters such as earthquakes or tsunamis, domestic violence, and school or/and work related violence (James & Gilliland, 2001). Trauma-informed care mainly aims at realizing the impact that trauma brings and identify the potential paths for recovering. It also goes ahead to recognize the symptoms and signs of trauma in the staff, clients, families, and other people who are involved in the system (Withers, 2017). After this, the
Sullivan, Murray, and Ake (2016) identified that in the child welfare system, the provision of trauma-informed care is particularly critical due to the fact that when compared to other child-servicing systems, it has been determined that within this system, the likelihood of exposure to traumatic events is higher. Their study is focused on the description and evaluation of the first nationally available trauma-informed training resource developed for
The facility also has a dedicated consumer advisory group made up of representatives of the local community whose main task is to provide patients and carers perspective of hospital issues where feedback is necessary towards addressing the issues faced. Natalie: How do you communicate these goals and other information within your group? Do you typically speak face-to-face, via social media? Etc? Savannah: We have multiple ways of communication. I would say, that we definantly use both social media and face-to-face communication. So every Thursday evening we have a group meetings in the basement and our whole staff gets there, including the CRE and other authorities. We discuss any upcoming events whether it is an even we are hosting in the great room for our residents or if it is move-in or move-out or seasonal breaks. We just discuss all of our major responsibilities and then we also get a lot of email from our CRE who is the person who is in charge of us. We just summarize what we 've learned as well as any new information. We also use Groupme a lot to communicate.
The new leadership will oversee the hiring of additional staff who will keep the required ratio of 1:4 staff to clients. Increasing buses for transportation will bring more clients to the center. The relocation to a bigger building will increase space to accommodate more clients per regulation. Effective marketing outreach as recommended will reach a wider base of clients across neighboring cities, hence more clients will know about the services and enroll. Raising funds will increase more cash that will be used to cater for extra expenses which will be incurred because of this expansion. Not only increasing clients have a broader financial impact, but the bigger picture of reaching out to more chronic patients who need help is part of what the agency mission and what it strives to do every day. Besides, helping these chronic patients will relieve a lot of stress in their family and free up more time for them to work, hence contribute to the economy as well as reducing costs of going to a nursing home instead, and which can be very
In “The Case for Torure” Michael Levin executes poor grammar, inadequate evidence, and ridiculous ideas to voice his opinion. The grammar is what is to be expected from a high school student, not that of a philosophy major. His facts are insufficiently backed up, and he provides no evidence, or rebuttals whatsoever. The entire paper is more of an opinion than an intelligent argument.
When working with clients in today’s society it’s extremely important to take into consideration the specific needs of each individual. Serious contemplation is given to the approaches and methods regarding the client’s need and presenting matters. Trauma appears in many forms in society, even from the 1960’s due to the impact on returning soldiers from war. Since this, trauma has been categorised and widely researched leading to numerous theories. Psychotherapies were one of the first approaches to be founded in the 1970’s, which were the foundations to counselling
The International Non Governmental Organization working on human rights issues that I have chose is Freedom from Torture.
