Almost everyone has used a coupon in his or her life. They may be used in grocery stores, clothing stores, restaurants, etc. Almost 100 percent of the time, people have good experiences with coupons. Saving money is always a good feeling to most people. However, when I was 16, using a coupon was one of the most traumatizing experiences of my life. Coupons are definitely a great way for saving money, but for me, it was a life changing experience. For many kids, turning 16 means freedom. It also means some parents can use their child’s new driving skills to pick up groceries, their siblings, or even dinner. My parents made me do all of these tasks at some point in my life. Tonight we were to feast on fast food. We debated what to get and eventually decided on Zaxby’s. Generally, my Mom always made my Dad pick up the food, but tonight she decided it was my turn. My heart raced and a wave of nervousness washed over me. At this point I was about to face my biggest fear, talking to people whom I don’t know. My mom then pulled out a small piece of paper, “Get what we normally get”, my Mom said, “and use this coupon to get one of our meals for free,” as she handed me the coupon. I stood there in fear. What was this foreign object in my hand? I knew it was a coupon, but I had never used one in my life before. I was in complete shock, and my parents could tell I was. Why was something so east and simple one of the mortifying experiences for me? I slowly grabbed the keys to my car and went down the basement stairs. I started to go over everything that could possibly go wrong during this trip. As I went through my garage door and walked towards my car, I started to panic. I opened my car door and sat down in my seat. As I gripped the steering wheel of my car, I reassured myself that I would be able to do it. Though, in the back of my head, my mind was racing. I pulled out of my driveway and kept going over everything I would say to the cashier. I imagined the scene in my head several times, but could I do this?
