It was different than what I expected from a doctor’s office. Surprisingly the roof was flat not pointed like most offices and not a very tall building. I expected lots of rocks, small bushes near the door, smooth concrete building with slight indentions for decoration, metal plaque inside the concrete and the area
Despite their best efforts, Drs. Thomas Ashford and Russel Collins are struggling to attract clients to their new dental practice, Ashford-Collins Dental Clinic. They took great effort in the preparing to open their clinic. Not only did they take business classes in preparation, they carefully chose the right location, with ample parking, and made sure to create an aesthetically pleasing clinic with all of the right amenities to appeal to clients. Two areas they should have spent more time was researching their competitors to identify possible differentiators, and identifying a target market. Their mass marketing efforts have been expensive, inefficient, and not successful.
Let us discuss some of the tips that help you to manage your dental practice.
When I was five years old, one of my front teeth fell out because I slipped after running on a wet tile floor that my mother had mopped. I landed face first on the tile floor and within seconds my tooth came out and I was covered in blood. Interestingly, my mother tried saving my tooth by dipping it in milk and inserting it back in my mouth, however in the heat of the moment my father took it out thinking that such a method would never work. This event triggered a sense of fear in my mother causing her to pursue dental benefits for me. With the loss of my tooth, triggered a sense of fear in my mother and was one of the main reasons why she pursued dental benefits for me. My mother felt guilty for about four years for the empty hole in my smile until my permanent teeth came in. =>Need photo of missing tooth for interview
When you are recovering in a beautiful space, you will feel more serene and relaxed, which will have a positive impact on your health. Examining health clinics, you find that the majority of them were not designed with the idea of beauty in mind. In most cases, they will have white walls, fluorescent lights and an overall sterile feeling.
The challenges for traditional, sole practitioners are many; younger dentists enter the market with significant debt – upwards of $300,000 from dental school – and often have difficulty purchasing the necessary equipment, which can cost more than $750,000, to provide outstanding clinical care. In search for a solution, more dentists are realizing that there is power in numbers. Group practices, those with at least five dentists, are on the rise and becoming a growing fixture in the dental industry. One of the main reasons is that many are leveraging a new, progressive business model that employs dental support organizations (DSOs) to help with administrative and IT tasks. This partnership lets dentists focus on just being dentists while cutting costs and improving their job satisfaction.
Accessing dental care is a serious problem sweeping across the nation. So many people are not getting the dental care they need simply because they are not close to a dental provider. Many organizations have done research to help find a solution to this growing issue. Some feel education is lacking for the general public on oral health care, creating more of a need for dental procedures. Others feel it is the geographic location in which the dentist are practicing. I personally feel the problem is the missing mid-level provider in the dental profession. Oral health care definitely needs a break through to end the problem with access to care.
In anticipation of the future growth, the Kathy Swanson decided to strategically expand the hospital in two phases, with the two top floors designed to be empty interior which can be developed at future date when there is need for more expansion. Kathy Swanson also approved an operating room design that will accommodate increased capacity in the future.
Practice design has direct relationship to patient flow. A common held belief in dentistry is that there should be a separation between general dentistry and hygiene. This concept has each dental provider working from dedicated ‘general dentistry’ spaces, chairs, and setups and dental hygiene can only perform cleanings in hygiene chairs and rooms. This forms dental ‘departmental walls’ or work areas done by ‘dedicated’ function and creates a lot of walking and patient scheduling delays. The definition of dental inefficiency and ineffectiveness is when staff members walk from the end of one hallway to another to tell the dentist that the patient is ready for an exam or a procedure.
Our doctors are highly trained to provide the best quality of treatment possible to our patients. In fact, all of our doctors have gone above and beyond what is required to practice dentistry. We focus on continuing our education in order to keep up with the most modern techniques and practices in the field. This additional training allows us to offer above-average care to our patients.
A severe shortage of dentists has hit rural America leaving millions of people stranded in a dental desert. Individuals who are low-income, older adults, minorities, or those with special needs often have a harder time accessing dental care. Rural areas of the country are more likely to have poorer residents who are without dental insurance. These citizens must travel long distances to seek out a dentist. Accessing adequate dental care has become a major health concern in the United States, leaving many with tooth decay and other serious health concerns. In order to fix the broken system of oral health care the government, states, and private sector need to come together and create new funds for dental programs. States should consider adopting dental therapists or dental practitioners as a way to provide general care to those living in dental deserts. The American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA) has created a task force on the Advanced Dental Hygiene Practitioner (ADHP) and with the approval from the ADHA House of Delegates, has established a scope of practice and educational guidelines for those pursing this profession. ADHP’s are a viable solution for rural communities facing oral health barriers. These practitioners provide basic procedures and assist with prevention of tooth decay by providing education on effective brushing habits. Rural areas of the country need dental therapists and advanced dental hygiene practitioners because they will save lives, reduce

For over sixty years, society has been used to the standard of visiting the dentist twice a year for a periodic six-month cleaning. This customary visitation originated from ‘Bucky Beaver’, an iconic spokesman from 1950’s toothpaste commercials, and since this promotion it has become a tradition; however, recent evaluations have studied and questioned the frequency of dental visits.

I paced into the entrance of the newly built Kaiser Permanente medical building, taking in the vast amount of sunlight that poured in through large windows that extended from ceiling to floor. I am always excited to stroll around any type of medical facility considering I am majoring in health science, with intentions to move into the medical field. On my walk to my interviewee’s lunch room, I took in the interactive and soothing environment. Visitors can sit and listen to a self playing elegant piano playing delicate music, or appreciate a glass wall eloquently decorated by a periodic table. I am excited to visit my aunt, Veronica Leon, whom when on the job, is not able to sit down and take in the soothing environment. She instead
