The Jamestown and Plymouth settlements were both settled in the early 1600's. Plymouth and Jamestown were located along the shoreline in Massachusetts and Virginia, respectively. Although both had different forms of government, they both had strong leadership. Leaders of Plymouth and Jamestown are both compare because they both came from England, Native Americans aided the newly incorporated groups by supplying them for food, and both empires resulted in the starvation and death. However, in Jamestown, John Smith set a goal to make money and get rich, developed the idea of everyone for themselves, men were the dominant gender, and Smith abandoned the colony and never decided to return. As for Plymouth, William Bradford 's’ goal was to have religious freedom, the group helped one another, families were unity of the empire, and Bradford was more caring and considerate of his people and remained this way for the rest of his life.

A benefit to settling in the Middle colonies benefits was that they were not strict about anything. There was desirable land that could be acquired easily and prevailing social and economic equality. They embraced everyone who wanted to settle, regardless of who they were. There was freedom of religion, ethnic diversity and they were very against slavery.

The two colonies had a government and an economic growth, which the Europeans accomplished to make, resulting a balance in society. Though, at the same time the settlers faced many hardships which they later had to overcome in the colonies.

The English had two main colonies in the new world, Jamestown and Plymouth. The first colony was Jamestown, established in Virginia in 1607.Jamestown was settled by Captain John Smith, and was named by after King James I. And Plymouth is in Massachusetts it was the second English settlement in North America. The Englishmen were attempting to settle in the new area they encountered many struggles along with sickness and hunger.

English settlements along the eastern seaboard later became the thirteen colonies which would form the US. To establish a presence in North America, England relied on private trading companies, one in particular, the Virginia Company, established the country’s first permanent settlement in Jamestown, Virginia, in 1607. Puritans, reformers who wished to “purify” the Church of England, settled in New England but their efforts lacked success and some wanted to split from the church. Among those who desired to split from the church were William Bradford and John Winthrop who both assisted in bringing new settlers to the colonies. The Puritans’ values of hard work, thrift, and responsibility led to thriving settlements and financial success.

Beginning in the late fifteen hundreds, Europeans from England started to make their way over to the New World to explore and settle down. The British ended up in the area known as the Chesapeake region. After failing to establish their first colony, they started working on the colony of Jamestown, which had many ups and downs. About fifty years later, a group known as the Puritans came searching to settle in the New World for religious reasons. They ended up in the region of New England and began establishing the colony of Plymouth. These being the first two colonies successfully establish in North America, there is a lot of learn. From the social, political, economical, and ecological standpoints, there are many things to compare and contrast concerning the two colonies.

Another component comparing Jamestown and Plymouth colonies would be their aspects on Indian relations. The English colonists arrived in Chesapeake Bay where the Powhatan Indians had been calling home for quite some time. There were over thirty Indian tribes totaling 14,000 Indians. This is where the first colony, Jamestown, was settled in 1607. I believe this created a lot of tension between the Indians and the new settlers considering the previous settling and attacks of the Spanish on the Indians. The Indians lived such a generous way of life welcoming the new English settlers by offering them food. However, the good intentions faded quickly after. The leader of the Powhatan Indians, Powhatan, was intending to entice the English through generosity and their selfless attitudes. Sure enough, this act of kindness was overlooked by the English colonists, and they immediately began searching for wealth such as tobacco. As we have spoken about in class, Jamestown was a colony that significantly valued material objects and wealth; whereas Plymouth colony did not focus their rule around that idea. The new colonists were so set on acquiring wealth that they failed to grow crops such as corn and beans. This led the English to depend more on the Indians for food since the Indians were very successful farmers and knew how to live off the land.

In the 1600’s two different times colonists sailed from England to America. Both landed on the east coast of America. The first ship landed in what today is Virginia while the other one landed in Maine. One stuck together and worked to survive, but the other carried a prisoner and was a free for all. Both handled coming to the ¨new world¨ but we learn about both of the different dates today.

Plymouth had cold Climate, and had thin and rocky soil for limited farming, it was known for its lumbering, shipbuilding, trading, and fishing. Jamestown then fell into problems because of unwillingness to work, lack of survival skills, inexperience, which led to diseases and poor relationships

The british were very unfair and very unattractive to the american colonies mostly because of power and money the american colonies just wanted independence and self ruling for their own colony that's why we had the american revolution. In the 1760s, shortly after the conclusion of the french and indian war, the british parliament passed a series of laws and taxes on the american colonies.They created unfair laws and taxes on the british.The colonist disagreed with great britain on the fairness of these laws and taxes which led to conflict between the two sides.Eventually, this erupted into the American Revolution.(doc 1) The american colonies wanted to make there own decisions and have their independence.But the british wanted to rule and make laws and taxes for the american colonies also to punish the americans for their wrong doings.The american colonies do organized protest in spite of these laws and actions.Patrick henry responds to the stamp act patrick says in one of his speeches king George is a tyrant he breaks rules he is a threat to his own people.When Patrick Henry puts that in his speech it really lets you know that what they were doing was wrong and for king George to be leading it makes it even worst because he knows what he is doing and did not really care alongs as the british colonies were getting money for the debt they were in after the French and Indian war.
