Ms. Hurts Period 6 9/23/16 Mrs. Hurts What is harming life “water” ? The major resource in the world “Water” for most people meaning life which created all living things that exist; has come to a point of scarcity. Imagine living in world where the most needed resource “water” was unavailable. For some, around the world people have been experiencing it. Countries like China and India have been suffering of bad and poor quality water. But it did not happen until the last years that people began experiencing it. This issue has made some to call for the need of better restrictions to maintain water by having governments to have better water conservation policies. Critics of this say, that water conservation is everyone 's responsibility and that it should be up to the person to lower the use of consumption. Water has been affected by the individual, therefore the most of people will argue that the causes of this are misuse of water, environmental chaos, and overpopulation which will lead to the destruction. One of the biggest environmental problems being experienced by the new generation is misuse, that is given to water. The waste of people due by irrigation, aquatic parks, car washers and bad use of domestic water will have a negative effect. “Wasting water is a luxury we can no longer afford.” (Alok Jah). This is true for some places like California where in the last years californians started to import water to grow their crops but raised the price
According to the International Water Management Institute environmental research organisation global water stress is increasing, and a third of all people face some sort of water scarcity. Where demand exceeds supply and no effective management operates, there will be conflicts between the various players involved.
Water is one of the most precious resources, which support the life of almost everything in the world. Indeed, the world is covered by 75% water, but most of this water is not suitable for human consumption or use. On the same note, the world has been increasing its consumption of water due to the increasing population, leading to increased demands. The increased water consumption, which has been a result of high population, is worrying because the matter may lead to massive water shortages in the future.
Countries will face many problems due to climate change and the capacity of a government to provide health care will be reduced dramatically. What water scarcity does not necessarily mean the availability of water, with the planet being 70 percent water, but the quality of water. Presently, poor countries are already being affected by water scarcity. It is reported that currently 1.2 billion people do not have access to safe drinking water and this figure will be 2.7 to 3.5 billion people by 2025 if effective steps are not taken to mitigate the water scarcity problem. Climate change causes different factors which may headway for political and social conflicts, so water scarcity will have major impacts on populations’ health. South Asian Studies is a reputable research journal out of the University of Punjab, which has been printed and available online since 1984. Muhammad Zakria Zakar, one of the three authors of this article is a professor at the University of Punjab. Rebeena Zakar, second of the three authors is the Chairman of the Public Health and Quantitative Social Research department at the University of Punjab. Third and final author of this paper is Florian Fischer, a professor at University of Bielefeld in Germany. The evidence of human caused climate change affecting the entire worlds water resources I can use to support my argument on water scarcity and its effects on
Among all of the resources in the world, there is one that we do not often consider to be diminishing. The masses take this resource, water, for granted. When the average person takes a single look at a world map, they see multiple blue oceans covering the Earth. But, although we are surrounded by water, our clean water reserves dwindle rapidly. In her article, “Water Works”, Cynthia Barnett attempts to bring this issue to greater light and offers her own solutions. While I agree with many of Barnett’s points, she fails to look at the arguments of her detractors to the detriment of her already flawed case.
Water sustainability is an ever-growing problem because of the increase in population, and over consumption used by agriculture, industry, and domestic which are using more water than we are able to supply. According to CBS News, California’s water shortage has been a big issue since 2011. Climate change has a lot to do with the amount of water we have available to us because the amount we need does not cut out to the amount needed to satisfy the population. Therefore, conservation is key; we must take into consideration the amount we use in a daily basis. Both you and I can easily save water we have, directly and indirectly like what we consume with what we eat, buy and use, which would overall improve water sustainability.
Many people know that water is essential for human-being and it is not only valuable for health and life, but water is also important for industry and agriculture. Furthermore, use of water has a spiritual, cultural and recreational dimension. However, water resources are not infinite. Wide and inefficient use of water resources can lead to irreversible consequences, such as water shortage. This essay will firstly discuss the problem of water shortage on examples of developed and developing countries and include the diversification of the same issue in the different parts of the world. It will also identify causes and effects of this environmental problem on society and other spheres of life. Moreover, in this essay I am going to propose
Earth is filled with vast amounts of water, yet it’s like a cruel joke to people who cannot drink it due to its toxicity to us. Likewise, fresh water is our most precious resource that people depend on every day. Our society is based around the use of large amounts of water in our everyday lives. Charles Fisher, a three time winner of the Gerald Loeb award, a writer for the magazine Fast Company, and the author of The Walmart Effect and The Big Thirst, tells a different story. In the article Will the World Run out of Fresh Water, which explains that people take water for granted and never see its true value like people in the past, published at the Detroit Greenhaven Press in 2012. Because we use vast amounts of water and never see the process in which water is given to people, Fisherman proposes this idea that water is taken for granted until we run out, which is more than true.
The author, Maude Barlow, begins her article by stating that there is a problem concerning the world’s water and how it can affect the people’s way of living. She includes three possible outcomes that could result from how people are mistreating the water supply. Sources of freshwater are becoming scarcer as people keep polluting and depleting them. As the lack of clean freshwater decreases, the amount of children dying increases, more so than war and diseases altogether which occurs more frequently with those that are of low socioeconomic status. Those that belong to companies dealing with water exchange are taking advantage of the shortages by selling them to regular people at expensive rates; this could ultimately lead to the market’s dictating
Water is a fundamental resource necessary for all life on Earth. Humanity would be extinct without it. People think there is an unlimited supply of water, however there is not. The overuse of water is a problem that needs to be stopped. Society needs to learn to live in a more sustainable way. If humanity continues to overuse Earth’s natural resources the way it does today, the Earth will run dry. To prevent the depletion of water, people need to be aware of their impact on the environment and live sustainably. By controlling the population, limiting fossil fuel usage, and stopping greed, the depletion of water can be prevented.
In less than a year, California residents will not have enough water to drink, and their beautiful state will turn into a desert. This problem is not limited to California, the entire world is facing clean water shortage problems. If the human community doesn’t pay attention to this problem, in a few decades the number of people who die due to lack of water or hunger that is caused by water shortage will be over millions a year. Polluting the remaining sources of clean water is also another problem. Some factories and farms are releasing their chemical waste into the close by water sources which causes contamination of the water. Harvesting new sources of water is required in order to increase the remaining sources of clean water, and also preventing water contamination is necessary because the process of removing waste from the water is very expensive. In order to solve the
As I investigate on this topic, I’ve found many facts that amazed me. I am fascinated by the details and statistic provided from the articles. I’ve found the usage of water being restricted, the effect on nature and animals, and ______.
Many people have suffered from water crisis. Places like California have been dealt with this for some time and has affected so many people lives. Is destroying the most important areas where water is needed. In addition, several people get caught by this situation which eventually leads to death. This is definitely a major issue in today 's world since is destroying the state of California. Most people who come to California for their first time are not even aware that these problems occur and are just putting their one life in risk. Water should to be conserved in order to keep it in the years to come.
The earth’s population is over 7 billion and growing. This has caused many people to question the provisions that will be provided in the future for the coming generations because of the overconsumption of individuals. The earth is already struggling to sustain its natural resources for the vast majority of people living here, so bringing more children will cause extra strain on trying to preserve them. Water is an example of a
Water scarcity is the lack of sufficient available water resources to meet the demands of water usage within a region. It already affects every continent and around 2.8 billion people around the world at least one month out of every year. More than 1.2 billion people lack access to clean drinking water. Water scarcity involves water stress, water shortage or deficits, and water crisis. While the concept of water stress is relatively new, it is the difficulty of obtaining sources of fresh water for use during a period of time, result in further depletion and deterioration of available water resources. Water shortages may be caused by climate change, such as altered weather patterns including droughts or
Grants from the government need to be numerous, broad, and simple. The government can promote better landscaping by giving grants for different methods of helping the environment, such as reducing water or preserving ecosystems. Smaller grants should be given to homeowners, and larger grants to schools, businesses, parks, and other types of institutions. The easiest type of grants to give out would be for water conservation. Homeowners or institutions could choose their own methods of reducing water use, such as watering lawns less frequently, and then apply for a grant. In order to receive the grant, they can prove they reduced water usage by a certain percentage through water bill data. A similar method could be done for energy conservation. Grants can also cover costs of buying native plants and trees. Applicants would just have to provide proof that they bought and planted native plants, and the government would provide a reimbursement. Currently, the EPA has a lot of information about how to make landscapes more eco-friendly, and they already have numerous grants. Therefore, they should be in charge of creating, giving, and approving grants.
