Throughout history there are numerous amounts of men and women who have made an impact on our growing nation. These men and woman have helped shape our country and our way of life way before any of us living today were even thought of. They were the ones who fought through the hard times and took chances to make movements that one our freedom and let us live freely. One of these great leaders was a man by the name of Benjamin Franklin. Ben was born in colonial Boston on January, 17, 1706 which is where he would on be educated until he was the age of 10. Franklin was avid writer who was self-taught. He used his reading skills to help expand his vocabulary as well as form sentences in complete thought. In 1724 Ben ran away from Philadelphia and traveled to England. No one really knows why he did this but when he returned to Philly in 1726 he opened up his very own printing shop that became very successful for him. His business profited by printing Government pamphlets, books, as well as currency. Through his success he would take control of his own newspaper that addressed the people with useful information known as the Pennsylvania Gazette. He Would also become the publisher of “Poor Richards Almanack” which was mostly comprised of sayings based around diligence. In January of 1706 the future of America was changed forever with the birth of Benjamin Franklin. Born in Boston, Massachusetts Ben was the son of Josiah Franklin and Abiah Folger, Ben was the youngest son of 17 children. Josiah was a soap maker and he wanted Benjamin to enter the clergy. Ben went to South Grammar School where he excelled, he even skipped a grade. Unfortunately with such a large family, Josiah was unable to afford the education that it took to become a clergyman. Ben only had the luxury of formal schooling for just a few short years.
