James Brown Miller, also known as “Killin’ Jim”, “Killer Miller” and “Deacon Jim”, was the son of Jack and Cynthia Miller. He was born on October, 25, 1866 in Van Buren, Arkansas, and was married to the cousin of another famous old west outlaw, John Wesley Hardin. And at the age of one, he moved with his parents to Franklin, Texas. However, just a few years after the move, both of Miller’s parents died, and he was sent to Evant to live with his grandparents. At the age of eight, Miller was again orphaned after both of his grandparents were found murdered in their home. Miller was arrested for the crime, even though he was only eight years old; in the end, he wasn’t charged.

Benjamin Hall and Eliza after spending time in the employment of a large landholder by the name of Samuel Clift at his property at Wallis Creek, Maitland, the couple made the decision to strike out on their own and establish a cattle and horse farm where in 1838 as a toddler, Ben Hall was relocated from his birthplace of Maitland, NSW, to a remote farm in the vacinity an area referred to today as Ben Hall's Creek. The family travelling by bullock dray, including their chattels and stock, the journey lasting three weeks. Upon arrival at Ben Hall's Creek, which is situated close to 'Ben Hall Gap National Park', roughly 90 miles north of Maitland. Furthermore, Ben Hall's Creek flowed into the Barnard River, and the area was known as a very wild and inhospitable place with extreme cold during the winter, often covered in snow, and far removed from civilization.
Benjamin Lawson Hooks, the former leader of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), was born on January 30, 1925 in a residential area called Memphis, Tennessee. He was a son to Robert and Bessie Hooks. His guardians were both poor individuals, and his fatherly grandma, Julia Britton Hooks (1852-1942), an alumna from Berea College in Kentucky, was the second black woman in the United States to graduate from high school. Hooks came from a family that esteemed training and energized civic interest in community undertakings (Finkleman, 14). As an adolescent, he was urged to do well in his studies, and his grandma Julia Hooks, a staunch supporter of the NAACP, imparted in her grandson the need to challenge racial obstructions that constrained African Americans full interest in the issues of local community, state, and country.
