There are few weaknesses in my argument draft about the representation of Bigfoot. One of these weaknesses deals with the second supporting point in my argument, which is the representation of Bigfoot changing as a horrific beast to a non-threatening human anomaly dealing with the reluctance in the scientific community or science-driven society to accept paranormal entities defying science. For this supporting point, my argument only contained one piece of evidence and one source backing my position on the representation of Bigfoot. This is an issue for my argument because my other supporting points have two pieces of evidence defending them. With only having one source, my credibility comes into question because I am not consistent in my argument …show more content…
In my second counter argument, I used the movie The Ghost of Bigfoot to show that Bigfoot was seen as a horrific creature during that time period. The main issue with this counter argument is that it does not directly refute my belief of Bigfoot being a comic relief in the 21st century. The whole basis of my argument deals with how Bigfoot’s representation changed from horrific to comical over time, so a counter argument expressing that Bigfoot was horrific in the 20th century is irrelevant for this paper. This counter argument is basically just another supporting point because it does not even show how movies and television shows could be a comic relief in the 20th century. One solution that can fix this counter argument is to create a different counter argument. A “new” counter argument could talk about how Bigfoot is a horrific creature in the 21st century rather than a comical relief. For example, the movie Exists, portrays Bigfoot as horrific and killing beast that terrorizes people in the woods (Exists). This new counter argument makes my argument stronger because it is a direct refute of what is being argued in the paper, which that Bigfoot’s representation being comical in current
For over a 150 years man has been troubled by one great mystery, a mystery that has baffled all who have witnessed it and all who have tried to solve it. This mystery is commonly known as Bigfoot, a tall hairy man/ape who lurks in the woods in almost every country on this planet. Some say it is just an ape, some believe it is a man in costume, and others are true believers of this hairy phenomenon. For more than a decade and a half this creature of myth has caused enormous contradictions in the field of science, bringing about one question. Does Bigfoot exist?
Introduce the second main point of the argument. Then, provide evidence from the sources. Multiple pieces of evidence should be provided to support the main point.
Bigfoot, the name heard sitting around the campfire roasting marshmallows, listening to scary stories. This iconic creature has been the cause of disagreement amongst folklorists and scientists looking for proof of existence. Many scientists believe this is just a product of wrongful identification or someone trying to perpetuate a hoax. Scientists would have society believe these are all hoaxes; even with evidence out there supporting the existence of Bigfoot.
Grover Krantz, admits that’s the height of the creature is within human size but the chest is too large to be human like. He quoted “ I can confidently state that no man of that stature is built that broadly.” Eventually they got a second opinion by David Daegling and Daniel Schmitt, they are anthropologists. They both claimed that the chest was “impossibly wide” for a humans body and also said that the creature walks in a manner impossible for a person to duplicate. Many people say they don't believe in Bigfoot because there is a lot of fake videos and pictures, but people tend to ignore the scientific evidence that is given to the world about him.
In the sporting society there are many opinions and statements about athletes and which person is at the top of the league. A common argument that often appears on the sporting networks is who is the next Micheal Jordan? Many people used to think Derrick Rose would be, until his mishap of injuries. Nowadays the common argument is, “ Who is the better athlete? Lebron James or Kevin Durant?” Although Durant has been able to carry his team throughout many years, James is a very well rounded player, he’s been found at the point, bottom of the key and even on the far wing for the 3!
After reading this issue, and making some research in the subject, I believe that this is not an opinion article. The writer, Jay Pennell, did not state his position about the race and the NASCAR restart rules. In fact, he just gave an overview of what happened at Talladega Superspeedway. So, he cited the drivers’ opinions and comments about the race, and described what happened. It is, indeed, a controversial issue but Pennel did not give his opinion. My general feeling about this issue is that this problem seems to be something that has occurred before. It was not the first time that a botched restart affected the outcome of the race. As a consequence, on October 20th, the NASCAR made changes on the rules to reduce to one attempt instead of the customary three tries at a green-white-checkered finish.
Bigfoot is by far one of the most controversial creatures in all of history. Generally, it is described as a large, hairy, ape- like creature. It is reported to have many physical similarities to an ape, however it walks on two legs like us humans. Just as its name clearly states, Bigfoot is said to have very, very large feet. The range of its height is between 6-10 feet tall and it is said to be either brownish or reddish in color.
I saw Footloose, directed by John Wilson and written by Pitchford and Walter Bobbie, on Thursday in the Highlander Theatre at UCM. The story is about a high school boy who moves to a small town with his Mom after her divorce. He is an outsider, and is surprised to find that it is against the law to dance. Then, he decides to take a stand and fight the law so that everyone in the town has the right to express themselves through dance.
Exiled to the wilderness, the Nephilim soon began to adapt to the climate and their harsh new living conditions. One of these adaptations involved growing hair all over their bodies.
On September 19, 2017 Kirkwood Community College held "The Hook Up" an hour-long seminar in the Ballantyne Auditorium. "The Hook Up" covered society's view on of "hooking up" and how people who "hook up" are viewed by society. The events speaker Mrs. Tiffany Mitchenor had the audience participate in every aspect of the seminar in order to convey to them how societal view affect people and those around them. Almost immediately Mrs. Mitchenor had the audience give her titles used to describe Men and women who have intercourse quite often and with multiple partners. The results were staggering, almost immediately women had a large list but it took longer to find titles for men and the tiles were harsher for women than for men as well. Mrs. Mitchenor
The most significant element I found in establishing my credibility and use of the specific type of evidence was for me to know about the different types of supporting materials that I can provide for my evidence. The two main supporting materials that I must know for my speeches would be verbal and nonverbal supporting materials. Using verbal evidence, like charts and pictures, can really clarify your speech topic, as well as giving the audience something interesting to see as prove of your topic. As for nonverbal evidence, like expert opinions, interviews, and even statistical results, they are also used to prove a point within your main point, as well as clarifying what your point really means. The reason why it is important to understand what kind of supporting evidence you are using is because with it, you can go even further on how you want your speech to be formatted. Using the different variety of supports can really change up your format, resulting in the audience to better follow along during your speech, if done correctly. In contrast, for those who do not understand the concept of giving your speech clear and connecting evidence, the audience will just simply plug out. You need to make sure that the structure of the speech
However, the end of the article lacks the same level of effectiveness in the appeals to ethos. For example, Martin notes that when blank do blank, they are considered to be “oppositional” to authority. The usage of the word Blank is jarring to the reader; unprofessional and immature, it is a shift from the researched, intelligent voice she has established and the reader is less likely to take the authority seriously. This damages the strength of his credibility and his argument.
While on the way to church my son and I noted a little girl riding her bike and I immediately stated that she was innocent and he corrected me with the statement “you mean ignorant.” I never reached completion of my thought and his statement frustrated me to the point that I had a headache after our discussion. He made me come to the realization that philosophy is discussed daily without the awareness of its existence.
Establish the reliability of the argument by employing one or more of the seven types of evidence discussed in Bedford, p. 518.
A suggestion would be to include references. Doug Powell (2006), L. Weider, and B. Gutierrez (2014), have shown us there are many ways to extract thoughts and styles of arguments to support a belief.
