Big Questions: The Big Question

My mother has always had major health issues, going in and out of hospitals all the time, but she wouldn't go down without a fight, and luckily, we still have her here with us. Any mother would want the best for her children, so one day my mom dropped everything in Reynosa and decided to move here, to the United States, in order to give us more opportunities and a real chance to succeed. Therefore, my parents have taught me to be the responsible, strong, and hard working person I am today.

My parents work hard to give us the best they can which I truly appreciate. They're both two Mexican immigrants who have horrible jobs because they don't have the same opportunities as others and get discriminated against on a daily basis. I'm proud of them both even more now since my mom is finally getting her residency after 19 years of waiting then soon she's going to become a citizen after that my dad is going to apply for residency. He could've have applied first, but he wanted her to because he wanted her to land a better job. I consider them my heroes because they look after us and care about us. They keep a roof over our heads and food on the table, even if it's not much. They work hard to try to give us a better life because they want us to be successful in life, they want us to be able to experience everything they didn't like going to college and having a good job that actually pays well. My three brothers are my heroes as well. Sure they act like I annoy them, but I know they love me like I love them. They are very protective of me and they teach me how to stand up for myself. My oldest brother Edgar has babied me and taken care of me since I was born. Whatever my parents couldn't afford to give me, he worked hard to help them out. He has been the one who has dropped me off at the bus stop when it was too cold, dressed me when I was too young to dress myself and he was the one who did my hair despite having no experience before

My parents are the reason I am who I am today, They sacrificed so much for me and for my brother, my dad would work all day every day and he would get out of work pretty late. My mom would work during the day and get out at 4 and pick up me and my brother, take us home feed us and then go back to work for another 2 hours and be home by 6. My parents gave up so much for us at a young age and didn’t get to enjoy nor acquire a higher education due to financial problems, and I am utterly proud of how far they’ve come and all their successes. They came from nothing to living the life they desired when they were young, having to sacrifice absolutely everything just for their children.
