Bigfoot Research Paper

Performing extensive research, I located and listened to any recording I could locate of a Bigfoot speaking. Mary Green’s book “50 Years with Bigfoot: Tennessee Chronicles of Co-Existence” was also used as a reference. Mary had compiled a dictionary of “Bigfoot” words, along with phrases based on a notebook kept by Janice Carter.

The tale of Bigfoot or Sasquatch traces its origins back to the Native American tribes of the Northwestern part of the United States and Canada. The natives told this tale of a group of giant hairy wild ape-man like people that protect the forests to give reason for respecting nature and preserve order. Bigfoot sightings have spread throughout the United States and the world. Our fascination with this creature have spiraled into almost mass hysteria among people to find and prove this creature is real. I decided to observe and analyze the film Bigfoot.

Bigfoot is NOT real. There is no evidence that he is part human, there is no DNA evidence, and there is no valid video or picture evidence that proves he is real. He is just a legend that has been passed down for years. It’s impossible for something that is 7-10 feet tall, covered in fur, and lives in the woods can survive for so long.

I experienced the Bigfoot language first hand in August of 2011, when colleague and good friend David Paulides visited East Tennessee for a few days. These people have given detail of its features and characteristics. Bigfoot is described to have a rancid odor which is smelt from miles away. It can weight up to 1,000 pounds and it reach higher than eight feet in length (Gaffron, 16). Its footprints tell a lot about Bigfoot as well, from them scientists deduce his extremely wide strides of six to eight feet, the four inch to 24 inch foot size, and the unusual disproportionate width of the ball of its feet (Fahrenbach). With all its obvious differences Bigfoot also shares common traits with primates, for example the hair some bone structure, and a minimum mental capacity.

The Blackfoot People are one of the many Native American Indian tribes that roamed America in the early 1700s. Like many tribes they were nomadic hunters that lived in the Great Plains of Montana and the Canadian provinces of Alberta. The name is said to have come from the colour of the peoples shoes that were made of leather. They had typically dyed or painted the soles of their shoes black.

A large, hairy, human like primate that is believed to roam in the Northwest of North America. This primate is believed to range from six to ten feet in height, with very large human like feet. Known to often have a foul smell to it hairy body. Bigfoot studiers say that it moves slow and emits a high pitched cry. It has multiple names for different regions of the world. In North America, Americans call it Bigfoot , and in Canada, canadians call it Sasquatch. In the mountains of Asia, the himalayas, it is known as the Yeti or Abominable Snowman. The Yeti is similar creature to the American Bigfoot. A large muscular primate, covered in either dark grey or light brown hair. Believed to weigh around 200 to 400 pounds. Estimated to be 6 foot tall.

Bigfoot (or “Sasquatch”) is a tall, dark haired cryptid humanoid that has become a mystery to the American people. Unfortunately, many believe that the furry beast is simply a hoax, while others know what they saw in the mysterious forest. Based on countless discoveries, Bigfoot has existed at some point. Considering the proof presented by dedicated Bigfoot scientists and fans, totally debunking the controversial topic of Bigfoot would seem ignorant. Perhaps people are not digging deep enough to find the creature.

Chupacabra- Chupacabra -- which means "goat sucker" -- got it's name from the first reports of mutilated goats. In September 1995 Madeleine Tolentino and other eyewitnesses claimed to have seen a creature "three or four feet tall, with skin like that of a dinosaur, it had bright eyes the size of hens eggs, long fangs and multicolored spikes down its head and back." Other eyewitnesses have also said that it looks part bat, part kangaroo, and part alien Grey.

Creation mythology are present in a multitude of cultures around the globe. The Native American Blackfoot tribe is one of the many civilizations who has a creation myth, for my paper I will be referencing Blackfoot Creation and Origin Myths. One can understand a lot from one’s society by analyzing creation stories and other important texts. The Blackfoot tribe uses these myths to explain the start of their society, the myth is broken up into parts; my focus will be on, the making of the earth, the order of life and death, and old man and the great spirit. With a lack of first hand experience of the creation of the earth, creations myths give incite to who a certain society thinks.

In American Mythology, there is one creature that sticks out from the rest. This animal is getting more and more popular by the minute for its odd body. This creatures name is Bigfoot. To start-off, Bigfoot’s origin across the earth is widespread. There are many reported incidents involving Bigfoot each year.

What did the early American pioneers see when traveling the uninhabited wilderness of the early 1800’s? Could they have be seeing a black bear standing momentarily on its hind legs or was it actually what we now call Bigfoot today (“The Canadian Encyclopedia”). The origin of Bigfoot dates even further back to Native American myths portraying a large aggressive ape like animal walking on its hind legs eating children and animals (“New World Encyclopedia”). Since then there have been thousands of reports of supposed Bigfoot sightings including footprints, photos, videos and the actual carcass of a deceased Bigfoot.
