The Zika virus possess a health related issue to the population and adding the virus to the FDA’s tropical disease program increase the potential to find a cure and properly educate the community. From my understanding this bill is a regulatory policy, intended to ensure levels of quality, safety and efficacy. Other politicians such president Barack Obama, and Republican United States Senator Marco Rubio support the bill and the additional funding but others like Mississippi Republican Sen. Thad Cochran, are still concerned about the additional funds. The bill continues to be passed with a $1.1 billion budget with the support of most democrats and with some resistance on the republican side. This is an example of legislators contributing to the health of the society through
Prince Rogers Nelson was one of the most unforgettable icons to ever live. Prince was born into a legendary family, his father was currently a musician and prince was considerably familiar with the twist and turns of generating a name for himself. I was fortunate to live a quick few years with Prince as a musician. He is definitely celebrated today in many different ways and Prince will always be remembered for his outgoing and frisky personality.
There are many current issues in Congress, especially after coming off of the brief vacation. With the election approaching quickly, Congress has its priorities jumbled up. With the short time to solve multiple conflicts, Congress is trying to focus on the partisan banter over the funding for the Zika virus. Republican's want to spend less money on funding, whereas the Democrats want to spend and give more to the CDC. James Arkin shared, "Republicans scoffed at President Obama’s $1.9 billion request, but agreed to fund $1.1 billion". The CDC and the Planned Parenthood Clinics already have funding for such viruses, which means the addition of more money would be unnecessary. Even though the disease clinics have shown to be running out of funds,
In 2014, two Polynesian mothers and babies were infected. In 2015, from February through April, seven thousand cases in northern eastern states as well as Brazil and Colombia were reported. In 2016, Zika Strategic Response, is a plan aimed to helping affected countries focusing on managing and preventing the spread of the virus, received donations from thirteen donors in the amount of $23.9 million dollars. In 2017, candidates are being evaluated during trials of a possible vaccination.
Also known as the Zika virus, is now spreading into 2 species in many parts of Brazil. Researchers in Brazil have stated that out of 500 mosquitos, 450 mosquitos are contained with this insane virus we all call, “Zika Virus.” This disease is really shocking to the world since the Summer Olympic Games are happening and many countries, especially from the United States because most athletes are scared that they might bring home the virus and spread it in their nations or it's just painful to have it when you're in a country that is nowhere home. The reason why I picked this current events is that this virus has been going around for quite a while now and it's still amazing how a small mosquito can end up killing a person in many ways. It's also shocking when you hear an athlete who has a chance to win a gold medal for their country, but they are denying it because of their health issues and the future consequences that could happen. Remember that the Olympic is only every 4 years, so it has been a long time for them to train and not being able to go is a shame, but also its for their own health conditions, not what citizens want to see, a guy with a virus coming home. This “Zika Virus” has no end to it yet because there is no cure yet to be found and there has not been a human trail yet done to fix this
My opinion concerning the Zika virus is one that is strongly built upon the principle that government aid and funding in regards to health care is necessary to ensure the safety of American citizens. A fatal virus such as this one that spreads through a country at an exponential rate is not a epidemic to be taken lightly. Nor is it an issue that should be dismissed simply because of libertarians believing that healthcare should be handled at a private level because of the sinister idea of a large scale imposition of government aid that would provide assistance to citizens that are weeks, or even days, away from dying. The two biggest political parties of the U.S. seem to understand that this issue is a pressing one, and that funding to combat
When I was made aware that the Nelson textbook was required for this class I remember thinking “great, another $70 dollar textbook I’ll probably never use”. In lieu, of purchasing the textbook, I decided to rent it, and now that is a decision I am actually regretting. The Nelson textbook is unlike any text that I have purchased in the past because the information provided is indeed useful. Every chapter I read, I learn something I did not know, I get an idea, or I get a template/format I can use in the future. Never would I have thought that I would be excited about purchasing a textbook, but this one is definitely worth having in my professional collection.
My experience in Thomas Nelson is awesome, I really like the study environment, trio program, tutor zone, and advising center here, they help me success my academic years. I always need to schedule my class and work and list down my to do list, in order to get everything finish. In addition, I'm also suffering ADD, and English is my second language, so I have to spent extra time on my homework and study than others. Therefore, to know my advantage for learning is important, which is be patience, and this is the reason that I can be an outstanding student and a member of PTK at Thomas
“Introduced into Brazil in 2013, the Zika virus has brought mild illness to the populations of 65 countries, and has become epidemic throughout South and Central America. Since 2014, at least 1,638 babies with grievous birth defects have been born to women in Brazil who were infected with Zika during their pregnancies” (Zika epidemic in Latin America may have peaked, and scientists predict it will be over in 3 years). Researchers say that until about the year 2026, most people will already be exposed to Zika in Latin and South America. That means that most people in those countries will be immune to the virus. Researchers said recently that herd immunity will most likely take over by 2019. With that being said, the epidemic will be put to an
You may think you’ve heard Marion Thomas Nelson’s story before, but you’ve only heard one version. This is how it happens the second time.
As more awareness of the Zika virus grows the cost to combat its detection, prevention and treatment grow too. Without the funding to address and implement necessary testing, precautions, and treatment the Zika virus will have a tremendous global impact on the already poverty-stricken originating regions as well as those who visit impacted areas. “Despite the US Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA’s) issuance of emergency use authorizations, diagnostic tests are slow, expensive, and of variable accuracy.” (Gostin, Hodge 2016)
A bill is an idea that someone proposes to be a law. For congress to pass a bill into law it must first go the “Legislative Process”, to navigate this is must go through a complicated course of detailed rules formal procedures and over 200 years of congressional customs and traditions. The president, a member of Congress, political parties, interest groups, or individual citizens can propose can propose can propose a bill. For bill to become law the Senate, House of Representatives and the President must approve it.
The two articles describe some basic knowledge about the Zika virus. Nearly 30 countries reported the Zika virus from last spring. Many experts began to study how to treat the Zika virus. However, the warning from World Health Organization predicated “ As many as four million people would be infected by the end of the year”. At the present stage, find out the root reason by international cooperation become the most important thing.
Dangerous diseases constantly appear in the news. Currently, Zika virus is causing a demand for action to protect the general public. Due to the public outcry, President Obama has decided to ask Congress for money to fight against Zika virus. To analyze this within the context of political science, two things must be understood. First, understanding the broader sense of why the president needs to ask Congress for funding. Second, is to understand what happened when the president asked Congress for money to fight other diseases, like Ebola.
CDC and WHO categorized ZIKV infection as a global and public health. Zika virus infection is spreading dramatically, and the government must provide funds to control and prevent the disease. Indeed, President Obama and health care agencies support actions directly to the eradication of the Zika virus outbreak. In fact, the director of CDC, Dr. Frieden believe that measures are needed and are crucial because evidence from studies shows that the infection and the severe birth defect related to the disease are growing stronger. According to McCarthy (2016b), the CDC received reports indicating that more than 2900 cases of Zika were in the US territories, primarily in Puerto Rico so in March 2016, Dr. Frieden, decided to request funds from the
After reading about President Nelson’s life it really impressed me the story about the doctor who started bleeding in his stomach. The reason this impressed me was because none of his colleges could do anything to help him through their medical knowledge, but only the power of the priesthood could save the life of that man. What a blessing to have such power nowadays, and what a joy to have men of God spiritual prepared to act in the Lord’s name.
