Growing up I was always fascinated by the sciences, and I attribute that mostly to watching Bill Nye growing up, because he made a subject that ordinarily would have been daunting easy to approach. This is something that I believe was one of Bill Nye’s goals, and he achieved it marvelously. Which is why I have always taken the enriched science classes.
Bill Nye is very inspirational in his work today, using his background in engineering and the sciences, along with his social influence, which he gained through his career in entertainment to influence politics, policy making, and societal views on the sciences. Such as in his 2012 debate against Ken Ham, or when he met with President Obama to discuss climate change and science education.
Since I was a child in elementary school I was always interested in the sciences. To me it never seemed to matter what type; it could be space science, biology, or even chemistry that I would awe over. Without reading and writing I would never be able to accomplish the understanding that I have today about science; without it I would be in complete ignorance of how evolution and biology worked, or why baking is just palatable chemical reaction, I would have never been able to expand my knowledge outside of what the classroom taught me. I remember when I was still in elementary school all I wanted to learn about was the ocean, but there were no topics of discussion that even narrowly correlated to that subject; I was left
It was another scorching hot summer day in Los Angeles, California. Manhattan Beach is the place to be on a hot California summer weekend. Any time the temperature hits 80 or above in California the beach is where we go. This day was one of those days, the temperature hit 89 degrees, and it was sticky hot. The type of heat that makes you feel like you’re going to melt. I hate hot days, preferably I like cold nights. You can just grab a blanket and sip on something warm and you’re ok. The beach is the best place to find quick and free entertainment for the kids and me. We packed our bathing suits and towels and hopped in the car and headed towards the beach.
In the Civil War, soldiers would not have to do much training, and the only practice they would get was in a real battle. The soldier that you are about to meet is George W. Nye, he wasn’t a general or any highly ranked soldier, he was just a private who went to war for the thrill and to be with his friend. But the civil war was the bloodiest war in American History, plus it is considered the first modern war for its huge technological advances in warfare and manufacturing. This will tell you about George’s life before, during, and after the war
Ithaca College, known as IC, is a private college located just an hour’s drive south of Syracuse, in Ithaca, New York. The school was founded in 1892 as a music school. While it has always specialized in liberal arts, Ithaca College also offers a number of programs in business, science, and communications. It is popular for its degrees in journalism, performing arts, and health sciences.
Ever since I was a child, I have loved science. I learned at a young age to always keep asking questions and to never settle with just simply not knowing something. The thought of how everything works on a molecular level never ceases to fascinate me. I have other interests spanning multiple fields, but none can compare to my love of science. I quite enjoy being in the labs and getting to do experiments to uncover answers that were otherwise unknown to me. It is that curiosity and interest that keeps my fascination towards the realm of science strong.
Let us not try to kid ourselves any more, we all know that racism is still going on in America today, even if we refuse to admit it. You may not be raciest and I am sure that you have seen racism whether it was broadcast on the television, internet or in real life. I personally like the way that Morgan Freeman looks at the whole situation of racism, and do away with the labels black, white, brown or yellow. We should be referring to people as man and women or children. When I was in the navy I told my sailors that there was no black or white or Asian there was only one color to be seen in the navy and that was blue, that was the color of our uniforms, and that is the way that they should look at each other as a sailor nothing more nothing
Science has always been the most fascinating and intriguing subject to me. I enjoy studying different concepts while collaborating in groups, performing lab experiments and researching a variety of topics. This is why I hope to be placed in the honors science course next year. I feel that my strong grades, my positive attitude towards learning science and my work habits show that I am prepared to pursue an honors science course in ninth grade.
He has been Keeping the big screen alive with dignified acting and class, Morgan Freeman has been in the spotlight for 18 years since his breakthrough role in Street Smart. Morgan was one of the first African-Americans to play roles not written specifically for an African-American. Nye was born on November 27, 1955, in Washington, D.C., to Jacqueline (née Jenkins; 1921–2000), a codebreaker during World War II, and Edwin Darby "Ned" Nye (1917–1997), also a World War II veteran, whose experience without electricity in a Japanese prisoner-of-war camp led him to become a sundial enthusiast.
Today we visited some art galleries located in fancy business buildings around 57th street and 5th Ave, although they are mostly prestiges galleries, it was hard for me to imagine how people visit those galleries casually to see arts. Also, I feel that the space layout of these galleries is very limited by the structure of the building, which make the atmosphere more commercial than the other galleries we visited before.
New York City's beautiful Battery Park is without a doubt a gorgeous place to visit 365 days a year! It sure is an amazing location that always excites newcomers and international tourists. There's a great array of cool activities that you can engage in once you arrive at this charming place. You can tour the famous Museum of Jewish Heritage which is a must-see for sure. Take a look at the top-rated exhibitions, like the "Beyond Chicken Soup". It highlights the important role of the medicine which was used as a tool of discrimination and acculturation of the Jewish society. There, you can enjoy inspiring stories of Jewish immigrants shown through short movies at the museum. Once you're done with the renowned museum, don't miss the Manhattan
In my schooling, I studied subjects that include science along with mathematics which helped me to develop awareness in the above courses.
From the moment I joined the Science Olympiad team in 6th grade, I was hooked. It was incredible to compete with hundreds of like-minded peers around the state of Texas while learning about biology, environmental science, and even Rube Goldberg machines all in the same weekend. In high school, I continued with my passion for science by participating on the science bowl team. This new form of competition was quick-paced and exciting, forcing me to be quick-witted and bold with my answer choices. When I transferred to Saint Mary's Hall, I had the opportunity to take a wide variety of science courses that really pushed me to go beyond the text and really comprehend the material. Throughout the summer of my sophomore year I was able to take an
Bill’s love for science was cultivated at a young age due to his parent’s influence. He was born on November 27th, 1955 to Jacqueline and Edwin Nye, who were both science and math enthusiasts. Jacqueline’s skill in math lead her to become a codebreaker during WWII, while Edwin was held for four years in a Japanese internment camp. Since there was no electricity in the camps, it was here that he developed a love for sundials that was consequently inherited by Bill as well. Later in his life, Nye attended Sidewell Friends High School before enrolling at Cornell University and acquiring a degree in mechanical engineering (“Bill”, A&E). It was at Cornell that Bill was a student of Carl Sagan, who he has stated as being an important inspiration
