Freedom is a thing that is mainly discussed in the United States, for me freedom is something that is very important in the United States without them the place that we live in would not have been the same. Without freedom we couldn’t have the right of freedom of speech for example if someone were to talk about the president and it would be an opinion that the government doesn’t agree with then that person would get arrested like in some countries. Without freedom we could not pick the religion that we want just like some countries where you got to join that religion that the people tell you to join and if you don’t want to be in that religion you would get punished. Another thing that if we didn’t have freedom we would not have the right to assemble like if there was a boycott about something we couldn’t be able to give our point of view on that current situation and we could not fight for what we want or deserve. Last but not least without freedom we would still have slavery all around the world, african-americans would be doing everything separately compared to the whites we wouldn’t even be in the same …show more content…
The three documents share one concept which is freedom, but this concept is explained in different ways for example in the bill of rights it’s talking about rights that we the Americans have like freedom of speech and religion which can protect us if one day someone decides to violate our civil rights. Also in the emancipation proclamation it talks about how some slaves got the opportunity of freedom when they were finally free and they had the chance to join the Union Army and Navy alongside the whites. And finally in the four freedoms it talks about how every place in this world should have the four freedoms which are freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of fear, and freedom of
Having freedom is what makes the people who they are as humans, and what they are meant to be. Freedom is simple as saying small and easy things, "Freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two make four. If that is granted, all else follows" (Orwell 84). Before anything else, freedom is the most important thing they can all have, because without it,
The idea behind freedom is to be respectful and useful to our society but also to do so at your own wishes. Freedom is important to everyone. If someone is deprived from this innate right, they will either lose an essence of their soul or go mad. When freedom is guaranteed, a person can think freely, go anywhere they want, speak their opinion freely without fear from other people who would cause harm to them for their opinion. Freedom of opinion is among the most important aspects of freedom. In some societies where freedom of opinion is not
Since the beginning of A Long Way Gone by Ishmael Beah, the protagonist of the novel Ishmael endeavors to flee from the hardships enkindled by the RUF rebel organization that has amalgamated the country of Sierra Leone, officially making it a war zone. Moreover, for more than two years Ishmael has attempted to escape from the rebels, moving from village to village, rummaging through abandoned homes. Seemingly, the rebels would make their way to Ishmael, sweeping all villages. Deprived of food or any sign of hope surviving as a “lone wolf”, Ishmael enlisted in the Army of Sierra Leone to fight against the radical organization. Ishmael risked his life for the prime purpose of surviving and to pursue freedom. Furthermore, self-determination was one of the reasons for such bravery, but it was also due to specific objects that aided in Ishmael’s journey for freedom. Nonetheless, in his literary work, A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Soldier, Ishmael Beah uses symbols to underscore his central theme of oppression and/or freedom. The most evident symbols that accentuate the theme of oppression and/or freedom are the moon, the rap cassette tape, and the AK-47.
The Magna Carta was signed by king john in 1215. Essentially, it said that the king had to fallow the laws of the land and not to abuse his power. Also it gave the people many right they didn't have before. Next the English Bill of right, "creates separation of powers, limits the powers of the king and queen, enhances the democratic election and bolsters freedom of speech"(Study.com). Then the declaration of the rights of man and citizen is considered on of the most important document the French revolution. It gives rights, like freedom of speech, religion, and assembly. The declaration of Independence announced that America is free and separate from England and is no longer under the authority of England king. it also says that all men a free and equal and have unalienable rights. Additionally, the bill of rights gives all Americans rights, for example, freedom of speech, assembly, press, religion and the right to bear
Although all three documents shared similar characteristics, there were differences between the English Bill of Rights, the Cahier of the Third Estate and Common Sense. Each document addressed issues
These freedoms include freedom of speech, religion, press, assembly, and petition the government. All these freedoms do what they include in their names, gives people the right to do that action without the restriction of the government. Freedom of speech is what the United States thrives off of and what makes us the greatest country in the world. Freedom of speech gives each and every person their own belief, idea, and thought process without being limited on what can be said or the topic being discussed. Most other countries destroy freedom of speech at its core, forcing their people to be closed minded and given limitations. If the American government tried to take the freedom of speech away from the people the whole country would fight back as freedom of speech is a privilege that they will not let be taken away. The only form of speech that should be limited is based upon certain illegal activities or actions but other than that no limitations should be placed upon the people. Not every person is going to agree with other people's ideas and theories but they are allowed to say what they want wherever. Not a single person should have the right to be able to change the rules that have been set for hundreds of years. All the freedoms basically revolve around freedom of speech because with speech comes the right to fight the government, the right to prove your religion, to join together in a group to fight as one, and to share new to all the people of the
While the three documents all have some basic ideological similarities the three differ on the main issues they are addressing. The Declaration of independence was written in response to a Tyrant and it stressed equality for all people and that everyone has basic human rights. The Constitution is the backbone for the United States Government and set up how the country would work. The Constitution emphasizes that people should be the source of all government power and that power in the government should be spread out. jefferson’s letters to Danbury Baptist addresses the issue of a state organized religion and the wall between church and state.
The Bill of Rights, the United States Constitution, and Declaration of Independence are three of the most important documents U.S. history. These documents are important because they are the rules and freedoms that this country was built upon. Some people may look at them and think that they are meaningless, or that they are simply a bunch of old papers that difficult to understand. They might be old and difficult to understand but in reality they are what makes the U.S. a free country. One question people might ask is “What do each of these documents mean?” The Declaration of Independence was written to represent freedom from British rule, it is divided into four sections the introduction, preamble, indictment, and conclusion. The Constitution is the establishment of U.S. laws, and the Bill of Rights are the first ten amendments that list our basic rights and put limits on our federal government.
To American’s freedom means many different things depending on who you are, due to the fact that everyone has their own opinions. To American’s, freedom could mean having the right to do things that they want to do with rules or as the Webster Dictionary states it “ the quality or state of being free;...”. I believe that the Preamble to the Constitution is the statement that provides the most driving representation of America today because it talks about “establish justice, insure domestic tranquility…”, with the way the world is today I feel we need more of these things.
The Memorial and Remonstrance Against Religious Assessment was a petition created on June 20, 1785 by James Madison. As the author of the Bill of Rights, Madison wanted to create the said petition as an appeal to “A Bill establishing a provision for Teachers of the Christian Religion,” that was a tax statement proposing to support Christian preachers. This bill went against the First Amendment as the government had no right to involve themselves in holy matters, especially in a way that made it seem as though religion was a Government right to the people. Madison argues to the Virginia Commonwealth that as free people of America, one and all should have free range of belief; that the separation of church and state should remain as it was.
Abraham Lincoln said in his Gettysburg Address that all U.S. citizens have a responsibility to uphold the Bill of Rights to assure that a “government of the people, by the people, for the people shall not perish from the earth." The ten amendments of the Bill of Rights represent a citizen-based government that Lincoln described, giving all citizens equal and fair rights. The right to freedom of speech, the accused and convicted cannot receive cruel and unusual punishments, and a speedy and public trial found in the Bill of Rights should be upheld by the government in order to honor soldiers who gave their “last full measure of devotion” and to ensure “these dead shall not have died in vain.”
Freedom and justice are what England’s Bill of Rights, France’s Declaration of Rights for Men, and America’s Bill of Right all have in common. All three countries did not like the rules or leaders at the time thus, revolutions against them occurred. Then, these documents were created because people wanted change. The first of the three is England’s Bill of Rights which inspired America’s Declaration of Independence, which lead to France’s Declaration of Right for Men. Furthermore, I will explain the contents of each document, how all three documents relate to one another, and which of these I would prefer to live under.
There are the positives of having freedom as well as negatives. Living in the United States you are not required to do anything as for example China it is a state law that makes them learn martial arts. We have the freedom over here to do as we wish in most situations, like we can go to college, we can work even though they set certain hours that we can work but then again we can pick a shift. Having your freedom is the most important thing in the world because it gives you the right to do as you wish. To me I think that some people take their freedom for granted, doing stupid stuff like committing a crime that they get locked up for. We all have certain things that we enjoy and even though
Freedom means living life as one wants, everything else is a form of slavery. If a person is not allowed to make his or hers decisions, if he or she is not free to live life as he/she wants than he/she doesn’t have power over his or her existence. If freedom was not essential for every human being than no one would have found so fiercely for it. If it was not important than today we would not be still fighting to keep and extend our freedom.
I believe in individual liberty it is extremely importance to any society. One thing that is important to an individual liberty is freedom, which I value the most today. Freedom give people the opportunity to speak, the right to their own opinion and pursue happiness. Freedom is very important to every human being because it gives you a chance to express yourself and give you an overall quality of life. However, there is certain limitations when it comes to freedom that we all must live with and that is the laws that we all must obey.
