Thomas Jefferson was one of the best presidents that the United States had. I say this because he did many things that changed the lives of many Americans. I do consider his presidency to be a success even though he had some troubled times. He did whatever he could to avoid conflict and believed that any man could be reached by reason. He did very important things such as negotiating the Louisiana Purchase and launched the Lewis and Clark Expedition. He also believed that the power of the federal government should be limited.

What does it take to become a Supreme Court Justice in the United States? It doesn’t matter what race you are; which neighborhood you grew up in or how much you have. From living in a predominately black town, and not know where his next meal is going to coming from, Clarence Thomas has proven that all barriers can be overcame. He was the second African American to serve on the court. Thomas served as a Judge on the “United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit” from 1990 to 1991. After Thurgood Marshall (the first African American to serve on the court) announced his retirement, President George W. Bush elected Thomas to become a candidate for the position. Clarence Thomas has been serving on the Supreme Court for twenty-six years.

He was very successful, having many accomplishments as president, including leading America in the Spanish-American War(Andrews). One of his biggest impacts was the raising of tariffs to promote American industry(Andrews). Many people were starting to throw their support behind Mckinley, making him a very popular man. Everything looked like it was going well for the President.

Theodore Roosevelt graduated from Harvard in 1880. He then married his first wife, Alice Hathaway Lee and entered Columbia University Law School/ However, he dropped out after a year to enter public service. At the age of 23, he was elected to the New York State Assembly and served two terms from 1882 to 1884.

Throughout America history many people tried really hard to make things their way. President, spokesmen and others on the government board works in their own way to balance out the majority rule and the rights of the minority. John C. Calhoun was spokesman of the south and Richard Hofstadter evaluation on his concepts of minority right and equality and how it played a role in America history.

With that being said, he collected thousands of books and kept them at his estate Monticello, which later in life he donated to the Library of Congress after the British burnt the original down in 1812. Furthermore, he studied law in Virginia and became one of the nation’s best lawyers. Likewise, he valued his farm and his main income came from his tobacco crops.

In 1969 he graduated with a Bachelor’s from Southern University Agricultural and Mechanical College. Thomas Nast, 1840-1902, was a political cartoonist who is known by some historians as “the father of modern political American political cartooning” (Simpson, ANBO). This is due in part because Nast was the person who created the donkey symbol to represent the Democratic Party and elephant symbol to represent the Republican Party.
