This investigation will study how birth order affects creativity and risky behaviour throughout developmental stages. This is an important issue as many previous studies surrounded birth have concluded birth order affects personality and lifestyle. The theory of birth order holds an importance to the study of psychology as it has also been concluded that birth order can affect behavioural choices and metal process. The purpose of this investigation is to determine whether a child is born first, second, third or last is linked to the development of the child’s personality and behavioural choices, specificity creativity and risk taking. The study was conducted to observe how creative and risk taking are connected, as well as what part birth order plays in this connection. Both adult male and female subjects were surveyed and studied. The subjects were first given a survey to completed, questioning about creative attitudes. The survey consisted of thirty true or false scenarios, this tested creativity levels. This test group was also experimented on, researchers ask the adults to complete a task. If they were able to successfully complete the task they were rewarded with money, but if they were unsuccessful in completing the task they would be shock with electrical impulse. The subjects did not actually have to complete a task but their wiliness to complete the task was used as data, this study tested risk taking ability. The results of the surveys showed that adults who scored high in the creative aspect of the study, scored high in the risk taking aspect of the study as well. This proved that the correlation method was related to the study and results. This meant that two variables being studied fluctuated together, leading to the conclusion that independent and dependent variables influenced the study, cause and effect. The purpose of this study was to measure the levels of creativity displayed by students and compare the findings to birth order. The subjects of the study were in a private school in Southwest Louisiana. Forty children aged 10-14 in grades 5-8 were studied. 22 of these students were female and 18 were male. The data was collected in three different types of ways. First data entry was “Eisenman's Personal Opinion Survey” (Boling, Boling and Eisenman, 2006), second data entry was based on the students’ ability to arrange and create polygons and finally students were given “The Alternative Uses Test of Creativity” (Boling, Boling and Eisenman, 2006).
