Blade Runner 2049 is a sequel to a classic 1980’s science fiction cult film. Hans Zimmer and Benjamin Wallfisch collaborated on the score of the film after several rappers and musicians dropped from the project. At that time, Hans Zimmer, the Oscar-winning composer, was first contacted by the film editor, who said that the film production team was having problems in producing soundtracks to the film. After watching the movie with the film director in his studio, Zimmer tried out a chord progression on his keyboard, which was ended up becoming a guidance to the score. The ending music is slow and very emotional as Deckard lies on the ground and dies. It is a twist that leaves the viewers in anticipation for some possibility of Deckard being saved having accomplished his mission. This creates a unique end to the film and a great achievement by the score.
Music is used in film for different purposes. It entertains the audience and refreshes the movie by creating suspense, emotions, and a sense of rush. In listening to the soundtrack, the viewers are captivated by what is happening in the film and relate to it.
