Blue jays are natural forest dwellers, but they are also highly adaptable and intelligent birds. They are a familiar and noisy presence around many North American bird feeders. The blue jay's "Jay! Jay!" call is only one of a wide variety of sounds the bird employs—including excellent imitations of several hawk calls. Blue jays are sometimes known to eat eggs or nestlings, and it is this practice that has tarnished their reputation. In fact, they are largely vegetarian birds. Most of their diet is composed of acorns, nuts, and seeds—though they also eat small creatures such as caterpillars, grasshoppers, and beetles. Blue jays sometimes store acorns in the ground and may fail to retrieve them, thus aiding the spread of forests. Common in

I chose the city of Kankakee, Illinois not only because I was born and raised here, but because I believe that there is so much potential for change here. Kankakee is a 100% urban city in Illinois and is located 45 minutes from the south side of Chicago. Kankakee has been known to some as a very southern suburb, but it is not. Kankakee is a part of a tri-city area and is not included in the southern suburbs of Chicago. I heard a recording of Jay Leno saying that Kankakee is one of the worst places to live years ago and that lit the fire in me to return and see great things happen here. Kankakee is often talked about in a negative way from the residents and those who visit the area, but I see the potential of this city in its people.
Why would I want to have a thirty-minute conversation with the now deceased Syracuse Alum and NFL player Jim Brown? Jim Brown is a strong African American male who had lived through different stages of life, someone who acquired great knowledge growing up. Brown was and still is now a hero, someone most athletes look up to, someone who has motivated me after learning about the history of him. He dealt with racism in his lifetime, the transitions from being home with family all his life to the college life. Additionally, Brown was capable of staying on top of his academics, while participating in athletics. Furthermore, I feel as if in a way we are connected, both black males who looked to use football as a way to more opportunities in life,
Before the 1880s, the are of eastern Brooklyn that was to become Brownsville was known as New Lots. This territory was primarily farmland, but it was also the location of the city’s largest waste dump, as well as the site of several facilities that supplied stone and other building materials. In its early history, New Lots had a diverse population. English and Irish settlers, Jewish immigrants, and a small number of African-Americans farmed the land. Others were attracted to the area by the open space and relatively fresh fresh air it provided. Brownsville at one time was a place for waste-disposal, a tenement slum, a haven for Jews before they were accepted, the cradle of a major crime origination, a testing-ground for public-housing and
“Mockingbirds don’t do one thing but make music for us to enjoy they don’t do one thing but sing their hearts out for us that is why it is a sin to kill a Mockingbird” -Harper Lee Mockingbirds are only here to sing their songs and to bring us joy. A Blue Jay is someone or something that preys on the week. Mockingbirds have to be shielded from the Blue Jays. Although Mockingbirds don't always need to be protected they do have to be protected from Blue Jays because they are gentle creatures whereas the Blue Jay is territorial and corrupt.
The Colored Junior College was established to provide an opportunity for African-Americans to receive college training. The Junior College progressed so fast that by 1931, it became a member of the Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools and was approved by the Southern Association of Colleges. In the summer of 1934, the Houston School Board changed the junior college to a four-year college and the name to Houston College for Negroes. When the university opened its doors in September 1947, it had 2,300 students, two schools, one division and one college - the Law School, the Pharmacy School, the Vocational Division, and the College of Arts and Sciences. Responding to the changing times, in 1973, the 63rd Legislature designated Texas Southern University as a special purpose institution for urban programming. As a result, four more academic units were added - the College of Education, the School of Public Affairs, the School of Communications and the Weekend College.

Mocking jays are a jabber- jay which was a bird that was genetically altered by the government so it could hear a conversation and then perfectly replays it, that cross bred with your average mocking bird to create the mocking -jay. This bird couldn't perfectly replay conversations, but it could perfectly sing back tunes and melodies.
Hi my name is John Brown,do you ever wonder who had over five sons and helped start the civil war. Yep you bet that was me I John Brown raided one of the southerners biggest military supplies outposts. The reason I did this rational idea was to cause a slave uprising in the south,Anyways moving on to how I became a hero to the north but a terrorist to the south. I was born in 1800 in Hudson Ohio,my father was Owen Brown and my early life was wild I was made part of an Indian tribe as a young boy and I also tamed a squirrel like a dog. After this I was big in reading I studied a lot about slavery and started a passion for hating it. After this I moved to Missouri and married Marry Brown. The legend of Black Aggie is one of Baltimore’s most popular legends. You could ask anyone about Black Aggie and, most likely, they would have an experience of their own to share. To briefly explain, Aggie is a cemetery statue. She was located just a few miles outside of Baltimore City in Pikesville’s, Druid Ridge Cemetery. Her head is bowed and she is black in color and in mood. Surrounding Aggie, were dead trees and lifeless grass. Nothing would grow around her. During daylight, you can see the amazing detail and artistic beauty; however, when viewing her at night, her presence is ominous and threatening.
It was a fun day in New York at Yankees stadium The Home team (My favorite baseball team) the New York Yankees were up against the Toronto Blue Jays. I was wearing my Aaron Judge shirt sitting in my seat when the game started the first two innings was scoreless. Second, Aaron Judge comes up with two guys on base and hits a double scoring both runs. Then, I look at the jumbotron and see Aaron’s calm smiling face. The next few innings was intense the Yankees and the Blue Jays battle for the lead. Next, the seventh inning stretch comes around and we all rise from our seats and sing.
The Jayhawks are an American alternative country and country rock band that emerged from the Twin Cities music scene during the mid-1980s. Their country rock sound was influential on many bands who played the Twin Cities circuit during the 1980s and 1990s like Uncle Tupelo, The Gear Daddies and The Honeydogs. They have released several studio albums, including five on the American Recordings label. On hiatus from 2005 to 2009, the band has since reunited and released a new album, Mockingbird Time, in September 2011.[1] After another brief hiatus, The 1997 touring lineup will be reuniting to play shows in 2014 to support the reissue of 3 albums released between 1997 and
The Prairie Meadows Scholarship will help me to pursue an education at the University of Iowa. With the money given I would use it to earn a degree in engineering or a degree dealing something with the law. My favorite subjects in High School were math and science. My whole life math has always come easy to me and for some odd reason I have a passion for math. During my Junior year of High School I took my second physics class and gained an interest in physics. Besides math and science, when I was a young boy I always dreamed of becoming a police detective, I used to run around the house pretending I was getting all of the “bad guys”. Now a days I also find being a lawyer fun and intriguing. I plan on earning my degree and graduation college.
