Gallup Organization, a website that has its news based on United States world polls and public opinion research, made a poll in 2013 that shows eight percent of Americans are trying to gain weight (Brown).

For this group of people, it is not as simple as just eating hamburgers. Many teenagers or young adults are the demographic group that have a difficult time gaining weight. Eating a few hamburgers everyday will not help thin people put on any pounds; these people are called hardgainers. According to Bodybuilding Workouts, a credible internet based network that publishes various sports articles, “a hardgainer is the naturally skinny person, who no matter what he or she eats, always seem to remain the same body weight” (Rivera). Performing cardiovascular exercises such as swimming, jogging, and cycling are excellent exercising methods for losing weight. However, lifting heavy weights is the best type of exercise to select when gaining weight. Even though this method is a slower way to gain weight, it improves the appearance of people since muscle is also being added on instead of fat. Therefore, it is highly recommended if one is patient and looking forward to gaining mass in the long run. As long as one perfects one of these three methods, they will be successful.
People should know three proper methods to gain weight: gaining only fat, gaining only muscle, and gaining fat along with muscle. Dieting and exercising are two crucial aspects in a person’s life. With the right mindset and motivation, this can be done to anyone who wishes to succeed in gaining mass.
