My time at Mary Queen of Peace has been unforgettable. I have grown in knowledge, faith, and have grown strong relationships with friends and teachers. Through our class field trips, class bonding experiences, retreats, athletics, and recess I have learned the many virtues that need to be in place for a successful day. We as an Eighth Grade class have shared many memories that I will never forget. Each day we faced a new challenge and we would again and again overcome the obstacles. I have made friends for life here and will miss seeing them every day.
Faith from the heart seems to be lost when a form of idolatry is created to be a God. It is a misconception to worship another god that actually has no connection of miracles or righteousness to a person. As a child, I was a Catholic who believed Virgin Mary was another God, but that changed when I was exposed to evidence which led me to be closer to only God as a Christian.
In her writing titled “A Narrative of the Captivity and Restauration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson”, Mary lies out for the reader her experience of being held in captivity by Indians during the King Philip’s War. Perhaps one of the most significant aspects of this writing is the glimpse that the reader gets into Rowlandson’s faith and religion. Faith was a major aspect of life in the Colonial Period. It was of widespread belief that God was to be feared, and that he was the only way to redemption (Kizer). Mary Rowlandson was no different, but the extreme conditions of her captivity caused her faith to occasionally waiver. Most of the time throughout her journey in captivity, she depended on God, and the

The Immortal life of Henrietta Lacks, this book is intriguing. The contribution of the of the “HeLa cell” it created tremendous bounds in the advancement of science. However, the experiences were dreadful, the Lack’s family went through a lot of it to deliver this to the scientific community. The bias in American health care at the time were unacceptable, therefore, she experienced the atrocious service provided there by the people who worked there. Just reading about what she went through with the service from a hospital, she had a horrendous fever, the doctors wrote she was in acceptable health, this on any standards is unsatisfactory she went for help, is receiving inadequate care. This is unacceptable, discrimination just grinds my gears.
Prior to reading The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks I had heard of the HeLa cells and their contribution to medical research, but I had never really known where they had come from. In fact, I had never even associated the cells I heard about with an actual human being before reading this book. I found the book intriguing in the way it interweaves the story of the Lack’s family with the scientific history, racial politics, and medical ethics. Not only did I learned a lot about the science surrounding the HeLa cells and the nature of medical ethics, I also learned about Henrietta and her family. Learning about the Lack’s family along with how much the HeLa cells have contributed to science helps to humanize the story and make it more than a scientific history and a
The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks is about a poor African-American woman that died from cervical cancer at Johns Hopkins Hospital in 1950, but in the end it turns into religion and spirituality. I know that there are many religions, but do not know much about religion and how it can affect people’s lives. The book also shows how Lack’s family believes in God, the struggle of Lack’s family with the creation of those cells, how the cells got used by people, and the sad part when Deborah wants to know who her mother was and the Lacks family could not afford a health insurance.
Henrietta Lacks died on October 4, 1951, and she was only thirty-one years old. Henrietta was an amazing and caring mother. She had five kids of her own but they didn’t really know her mother very well. Henrietta death affects her whole family, but it affected her two kids Deborah and Joseph (Zakariyya) the most. They both wanted to find out what happened to their mother, but Deborah Lacks would do anything to find out the truth about her mother.

Even though that there are thousands of soldiers fighting in this war, each individual soldier makes a difference and is a life, there shouldn't be one individual soldier's life over another that way everybody's a somebody
“ Humans have long used animals for a variety of purposes. For hundreds of years, people have hunted for food and clothing. Between 10,000 and 18,000 years ago, humans began to domesticate animals such as dogs, goats, sheep, and chickens as beasts of burden and as food,”(Encyclopedia). Despite animal cruelty humans have used animals to recognize there beauty by painting them in all different types of looks creating master peaces all through history.
When Mary and I met up this week the first thing she said was she wanted to talk about her work with the ERA some more. She told me that after reading the adamant it really ignited something within her and that she couldn’t understand why it was so difficult for women to be treated the equally as everyone else. She work only green and white for five years and for two years she picketed at a mormon temple in Bellevue, Washington. She also when to Utah as an ERA missionary to talk with women about equal rights. She said she continued on with her Civil Disobedience and modeled her behavior after Alice Paul one of the founders of the National Woman’s Party.
The Holy Virgin Mary was created by Chris Ofili in 1996. It is a mixed media painting, including paper collage, oil paint, glitter, polyester resin, map pins and elephant dung on linen with the size of 243.8 cm X 182.9 cm. The artwork portrays Mary, a black virgin, wearing a blue cape covers from her head down to her body. The cape wraps around her body, leaving an open space that reveals her right breast that was actually a dried lump of elephant dung. The woman was positioned standing in the center on a yellow-orange background with swirly lines that created a little detail in the background.
